Chapter 11: Goodbye
Just as Kurono had said, he had given himself the task of paying for dinner as well as thanking them for the service, then going back to Shizune and taking her outside with him getting his car back. Shizune returned to her attitude from the beginning of the date since she didn't know where they were going now, the simple movement of the car besides passing the landscape was the only thing that indicated that they were moving, but that wasn't important to her as she was busy with the conversation she had with Kurono
"And how about your first experience in such a restaurant, Shizune-san?"
"Well, it was quite nice if you ask me, obviously it was all new to me, but it was thanks to you that I didn't feel nervous about something like that."
"That's good to hear, although I think I'll choose something more normal next time."
"Next time? Hehe. Does that mean you'll ask me out on a date some other time, Kurono-san?" This was Shizune's chance to get revenge for all the surprises Kurono had given her, and an amused laugh appeared on her face when she noticed how nervously Kurono spoke at that moment.
"W-Well... As long as you're willing to accompany me, so..." The laugh that came out of Shizune had been enough for Kurono to realize that he had lost that time, but that laugh was not the least bit annoying to him.
"Haha, you don't need to worry, Kurono-san... Actually, I'd be very happy if you invited me some other time. I've had a lot of fun up until now."
"And that we haven't finished yet, I hope that what follows is to your liking." Shizune's curiosity had returned to her with the words that Kurono had just said and she was about to ask what exactly he had prepared, but she had to stop when she felt how the car stopped and Kurono got out to help her to do the same.
The first thing that caught Shizune's attention was that they were a little far from the city, but not so far that they had lost sight of it. Although it was summer, the night was cold enough to need to wrap up a little, and Shizune didn't take long to realize it at the same time that she felt how the jacket that Kurono was wearing passed over her shoulders giving her the warmth she needed.
"I don't want you to have a cold because of me, although I should have thought about this point before, I hope my jacket is enough." Shizune understood what Kurono meant and knew that it would be useless to refuse to accept it, so she simply hugged that even more garment so that the cold of the night did not reach her too much.
"Thank you, Kurono-san, though, could you tell me what exactly we're doing here?" The confusion was still in Shizune. She had also realized that at that moment they were in what seemed to be an elevated and open area, and in the distance, there was a simple structure with railings to prevent someone from falling and a roof with perfect seats to see the view in the distance.
Kurono didn't answer, he simply took Shizune's hand and started walking in the direction of said seats. Shizune didn't refuse and followed him because she wasn't afraid that Kurono would do something strange, she was sure that he would tell her the reason for all that, but when the sight of the area appeared in front of her, she was practically speechless.
"It's quite hypnotic, don't you think?"
"It is beautiful…" The view of both had been replaced by the night image of the city, the great magnitude of colors and buildings combined with the notorious silence of the place gave a unique capture of it, and the lights that it transmitted created an amalgamation of tones difficult to describe, but in addition to that, the distance was enough to appreciate the night sky that night that was above them being adorned by the innumerable number of stars and the moon in all its splendor.
Shizune had been trapped with the landscape, she felt that if she looked away a bit that view could disappear, but she had to quickly come out of her trance when she felt Kurono's hand lightly touch her shoulder and then indicate her to take a seat.
A pleasant silence had appeared between the two, the beautiful image before them was still where it was adorning their eyes, the cold was still present, and caused both of them to approach each other looking for the warmth of the other to the point that they could not be closer, but not it didn't bother them at all, it was another one of those pleasant moments, but unlike the previous ones, it was too special to forget.
"I really hope you enjoyed tonight, Shizune-san."
"You can bet it, Kurono-san. It's been a long time since I had this much fun, I don't know how to thank you for all this."
"I already told you, as long as it was to your liking and there was a smile at the end of everything, it would be enough for me."
"Then I think you made it, hehe." Tranquility was what was present at that moment, each one enjoyed the other's company, the night continued to advance and the unique feeling they felt grew greater as that happened, neither had said one more word, but Kurono was the first to speak when he asked Shizune a question.
"Shizune-san, could you close your eyes for a moment?" Shizune thought about it and accepted it kindly. She had closed her eyes without being able to see anything other than her eyelids covering them, but that didn't mean she couldn't feel something happening around her neck just as Kurono was close to her, but she didn't have to wait a long time when she heard that voice again telling her that she could look and realize what that was.
"This..." A simple but beautiful necklace was hung around Shizune's neck, the first thing she did was look at it carefully for a few moments and carefully appreciate it. A small blue stone was embedded in it and it was noticeable that it reflected the little light that reached the place, Shizune was about to ask a question, but Kurono was the one who spoke first making her understand what it was.
"It's a gift for you, Shizune-san, and don't worry, it's nothing fancy, actually Rena-san helped me choose it for you, I wanted to give you a present so you can remember this day and I thought it would look perfect on you, I hope you like it, haha…" Kurono was really nervous, he had almost finished all his plans for the night, and that was one of the most important ones for him, he really didn't know how Shizune would react or if she would like his gift, but he was simply exaggerating things.
"I love it, Kurono-san... This is the first gift I've received from you and I promise I'll treasure it forever, thank you so much, hehe..." Beautiful, that was what Kurono thought at the moment that the sight of that beautiful woman in front of him appeared before his eyes showing him that charming smile that was too unique, many feelings were being generated inside him and he didn't know if he could resist, but a loud sound made him calm as he realized how shocked Shizune had been at that moment.
A crimson light appeared filling the darkness that was still in the sky, the bright flashes and the characteristic sound of an explosion were what reached Shizune causing her to be caught by them, it was a wonderful sight, and Kurono's voice was heard to understand a little more.
"I found out there was a summer festival going on today. I found this place years ago and I was sure it was the perfect place to watch the fireworks, it might not be too much of a surprise but I really wanted to share with you." With just that, Shizune finally understood the real reason why they were there, but she didn't say anything, instead, she had taken Kurono's hand as she got closer to him and leaned her head on his shoulder.
Kurono understood Shizune's action and didn't stop her from doing it, he understood that words weren't necessary at that moment, the only thing that mattered was enjoying what was happening. The lights kept exploding in the sky, the night was getting colder by the moment and the moon kept rising above them, it was a simple moment, but also, it would become a very precious one for them.
…
…
"So... I guess it's the end."
"Yes, I really enjoyed it a lot, Kurono-san. I don't regret accepting the invitation."
"I am glad that you have given me this opportunity, and… I would like to repeat it another time."
"Same here. I'll be looking forward to it, hehe." The night had seemed to come to an end, Kurono had been in charge of taking Shizune back home after having enjoyed the previous show, and right now they were in front of the characteristic building where she lived.
Both understood that it was time to separate, although deep down they did not want to, they had already said goodbye to each other and Shizune saw how Kurono was moving away from her at the same time that she noticed that Kurono's jacket was still on her shoulders to then move rather quickly towards him to return it to him.
"Kurono-san… Ah!" It seemed that the universe wanted to repeat that situation and result in something else. Basically, Shizune had tripped while she was running at that moment, Kurono was aware of Shizune's call and could see the whole situation slowly pass before his eyes and act accordingly.
Shizune had closed her eyes waiting for the impact, but it never came, and just when she opened them again before her eyes were the characteristic figure of Kurono as he held her and brought her close to him to make sure she didn't fall again. This time nothing strange happened as the last time, but if there was something special to mention, it was that both Shizune and Kurono couldn't take their eyes off each other at that moment.
They were so close, but at the same time so far away, the features of each one filled the view of the other and that special feeling could not disappear at that moment, it had been something unconscious, but deep down they wanted it to happen, the distance between them it was getting shorter, they could feel each other's breath and the inevitable happened in that instant.
Warm, was what remained in them after experiencing that brief moment where nothing else seemed to matter more than the person who was in front of each one, the seconds that lasted felt eternal, and the feelings they were experiencing were enough to take the cold away from them, and then separate as a few simple words came from both.
"Bye, Shizune-san..."
"Bye, Kurono-san..." They had finally said goodbye, Shizune watched as Kurono got into his car and drove off into the distance as she continued to feel the warm jacket on her. She didn't wait long, she walked slowly until she reached the interior of the apartment and closed the door behind her to lean on it.
Her attention was positioned on nothing with a lost look without being able to control the blush that was on her cheeks as she brought her delicate fingers to touch her lips and remembered that beautiful moment at the same time that she could not control the happiness and the beating of her heart.
