Chapter 272: What Are You Touching?!
Chapter 272: What Are You Touching?!
Seeing Lin Fengmian gloating, Luo Xue pursed her lips and tightened her grip on the Zhenyuan Sword.
“Is it that funny?”
Lin Fengmian’s grin stretched so wide that it was nearly ear to ear. “No, no, I just remembered something happy.”
Luo Xue snorted coldly. She hadn’t expected that while she could perform the Thousand Illusions Technique, it required Lin Fengmian’s Demon Emperor Technique to sustain it.
Without his technique as a foundation, the spell would automatically expire after three days.
The last time they were separated, Luo Xue had used her real appearance to travel and hadn’t noticed the limitation.
But this time, with Jun Yunshang present, she couldn’t risk showing her true self for fear of blowing her cover.
After wrestling with the issue for an entire day, she reluctantly decided to bring Lin Fengmian along again.
Tonight, she had waited until the very last moment before responding to Lin Fengmian’s calls through the Double Fish Pendant.
Responding too early would leave her in a sealed state, unable to monitor Jun Yunshang, who might very well be whisked away by someone else without her knowing.
Lin Fengmian beamed, his expression full of mischief. “Luo Xue, you still have to take me with you this time, right? Let’s take down the Heaven-Soaring Sword Saint together!”
Luo Xue rolled her eyes. “The first time I see someone so eager to die.”
Lin Fengmian chuckled. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! You have no idea – when I got back, I was able to fight across entire cultivation stages!”
“I could take down a peak Foundation Establishment cultivator like a father disciplining his son-quick, clean, and easy.”
Although Luo Xue did not quite understand where he found the Foundation Establishment opponents, she did not doubt his words.
With a faint smile, she said, “You’ve seen the landscapes of the peak of the Soul Severing Realm. Isn’t being invincible among your peers below the Nascent Soul Realm just a basic practice?”
Lin Fengmian wasn’t discouraged, maintaining his grin. “That’s why you should give me this chance, Luo Xue. It’s only beneficial for my cultivation.”
Luo Xue wasn’t swayed by his sweet talk. Her expression became serious. “We need to set some ground rules!”
“If your Demon Emperor Technique shows any signs of losing control or invading your soul, you must tell me immediately.”
Lin Fengmian nodded quickly. “No problem, no problem!”
Luo Xue frowned at his frivolity and snapped, “I mean it!”
Realizing her seriousness, Lin Fengmian adjusted his demeanor and solemnly nodded. “Understood!”
As cracks of light began to form in the surrounding darkness, he quickly hopped over and grabbed Luo Xue’s hand.
Seeing her glance at him, he grinned. “All right, Luo Xue, I’ll do whatever you say.”
Luo Xue was completely speechless. Was this guy made of stone?
Meanwhile, Lin Fengmian was filled with pride as he held her hand.
Heh, chasing after a fairy requires a thick skin.
You couldn’t expect a fairy to confess her love to you first, right?
However, Lin Fengmian had no intention of being a lapdog.
After all, as the saying went, “A lapdog licks and ends up with nothing.”
If Luo Xue hadn’t been loyal and unwavering towards him, he wouldn’t have risked his life for her either.
Her loyalty came first; his devotion followed.
As darkness enveloped him, Lin Fengmian opened his eyes to find himself in a mountain cave in the wilderness.
Smiling faintly, he stood up and touched his face, feeling the soft, smooth skin beneath his fingers.
Sure enough, it was Luo Xue’s stunning and peerless visage.
“What are you touching?!” Luo Xue’s angry voice echoed.
“I’m not touching your chest, so it’s fine,” Lin Fengmian replied with a mischievous grin.
“Scoundrel! You want to touch my chest?!” Luo Xue stomped her foot in outrage.
“Uh…”
Realizing his slip of the tongue, Lin Fengmian let out an awkward laugh. “Of course not. Touching myself is boring anyway.”
Luo Xue had no interest in arguing with this man, who had clearly been tainted by the Joyful Union Sect, lest he say something even more scandalous.
With their souls resonating, Luo Xue once again cast the Thousand Illusions Technique, her appearance transforming back into Lin Fengmian’s.
She spoke concisely, “Over the past four days, I’ve taken her quite a distance. The truce zone of Chongming City lies ahead.”
“I originally wanted to take her into the city for some rest, but it seems that the Ninth Princess is in the area. I was worried that it might be a trap, so we stayed out.”
“After resting for a night, I reverted to my original appearance, which delayed us for another day.”
“By noon today, the Dragon Seeking Disk will pinpoint the location. You’d better make it into the city before then.”
Lin Fengmian nodded. “So you’re really handing over control of your body to me?”
Every time he came over, Luo Xue would voluntarily let him take over her body, leaving him somewhat embarrassed. It felt as though, regardless of the world, he was always in control while she acted as mere support.
Luo Xue sighed. “I am not good at dealing with this stupid woman, nor do I want to. Besides, isn’t this supposed to be training for you?”
Lin Fengmian raised an eyebrow. “What did she do to make you so exasperated?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.” Luo Xue’s tone was one of resignation.
After adjusting his robes, Lin Fengmian walked out of the cave and spotted Jun Yunshang sitting idly, visibly bored.
The moment she saw him, she excitedly stood up. “You’re finally out! I was worried that you were injured again.”
Lin Fengmian smiled faintly. “It’s nothing, just a small wound.”
Seeing his smile, Jun Yunshang stared at him momentarily dazed before breaking into a gentle smile of her own. “You’re finally smiling… So you’re not mad at me anymore?”
Astonished, Lin Fengmian asked Luo Xue inwardly, “Luo Xue, what’s going on? Have you not smiled at her for days?”
Luo Xue stammered awkwardly, “Maybe?”
The truth was, she had no idea how to interact with Jun Yunshang. For the past few days, she had simply remained silent, focusing on traveling and keeping her distance.
Jun Yunshang, who was consumed by anxiety, had no choice but to endure it.
Lin Fengmian sighed. “Seriously, what kind of grudge do you hold against her?”
Luo Xue huffed. “No grudge. But don’t forget – our target is her father!”
This reminder weighed heavily on Lin Fengmian’s heart, something he had deliberately avoided thinking about.
Looking at Jun Yunshang, who now appeared to be on the verge of tears, he said to Luo Xue, “Cold treatment like this isn’t a good approach.”
“Oh? What brilliant solution do you propose?” Luo Xue challenged.
“Take things as they come,” Lin Fengmian replied helplessly. “When the time comes, let her decide whether she wants to love or hate. It’s all up to her.”
Seeing Lin Fengmian’s silence, Jun Yunshang became even more worried. “Are you still angry with me? I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have deceived you.”
“If I hadn’t listened to Ye Ling and gone to Kang City, none of this would have happened. It’s all my fault! I shouldn’t have kept it from you.”
Tears streamed down her face as she rambled incoherently, “I didn’t do it on purpose… I was just afraid you’d hate me. If you don’t want me around, I can go on my own…”
“If you’re still angry, you can hit me or scold me. Just don’t stay silent like this – it scares me…”
Lin Fengmian sighed deeply. “Luo Xue, look what you’ve done. You’ve scared her half to death.”
The silent treatment really doesn’t work.
Luo Xue hadn’t anticipated that her cold demeanor would push Jun Yunshang to the brink of collapse from guilt. A pang of regret crossed her heart.
Perhaps the best course of action… would have been to leave her out of their plans entirely from the start.
