Kyudai Genso Academy

Chapter 2: The School Entrance Ceremony

Kyudai Genso Academy

The morning sun shone on Kyudai Genso Academy as a new academic year commenced, symbolized by banners of a phoenix.

First-year students, excited yet anxious, gathered in their uniforms, sharing stories and discussing future challenges. Faculty members, skilled in magical disciplines, prepared to welcome the newcomers with authority and wisdom.

On one side was Nakamura-Sensei, the "Scary-Fox" her stern gaze enough to make even the bravest student sweat bullets.

On the other side was Takeda-Sensei, the "Angel Daddy," whose serene presence seemed to wrap the students in a comforting embrace.

"Welcome, first-year students," she began, her voice resonating with authority and purpose. "Today marks the beginning of your journey at Kyudai Genso Academy—a journey that will test your limits and push you beyond what you believe possible."

Her eyes scanned the crowd, ensuring that every student felt the weight of her words.

"Here, you will not only learn to harness your unique abilities but also understand the responsibility that comes with them. Our world is one of mysteries and dangers, and it requires strength, intelligence, and courage to navigate."

Nakamura-Sensei paused, allowing the gravity of her message to settle in;

"This first lesson is not just about showcasing your powers. It is about teamwork, strategy, and understanding the essence of what makes you a part of this academy. You will be challenged to work together, to think on your feet, and to trust in your instincts."

She took a step forward, her expression softening slightly but still commanding respect.

"Remember, each of you was chosen for a reason. You possess a potential that, when nurtured, can change the course of your lives—and perhaps the world."

With a nod that signified both encouragement and expectation, she concluded;

"Now, prepare yourselves. Prove that you are worthy of the title bestowed upon you as students of Kyudai Genso Academy. Let us see what you are truly capable of."

As Nakamura-Sensei's voice sliced through the air like a katana, the students trembled in unison, their imaginations running wild.

Some could have sworn they saw shadowy tendrils curling around her feet, ready to ensnare any student who dared to step out of line.

A particularly imaginative student even whispered, "I think I saw her eyes glow red for a second!"

"Silence!" Nakamura-Sensei barked, her voice echoing ominously across the courtyard. The students snapped to attention, some nearly jumping out of their skin, while others seemed to shrink in size, hoping to avoid her fearsome gaze.

One student, in a fit of panic, even dropped his books, which clattered loudly against the stone pavement.

"She's going to turn us into stones," another student murmured, eyes wide with exaggerated terror.

But just as the students felt the grip of fear tightening, Takeda-Sensei stepped forward, his smile as warm as a summer's day.

With a gentle wave of his hand, the tension in the air seemed to dissipate, replaced by a soothing calm. The students visibly relaxed, and a collective sigh of relief swept through the group.

"Don't worry, young learners," Takeda-Sensei reassured them, his voice a balm to their jittery nerves. "Remember, every shadow has its light, and every challenge is an opportunity to shine."

The students' imaginations shifted gears, and they could almost see a halo of light surrounding Takeda-Sensei, the embodiment of a benevolent guardian.

A few even imagined angelic wings unfurling behind him, casting a gentle glow over the courtyard.

"He's like a dad from those slice-of-life anime," one student commented, a dreamy smile spreading across their face.

"Or like the wise old sage who always gives the best advice," another chimed in, nodding in agreement.

"What's the deal with The S・A?" one of the students raised their hand and asked suddenly, wearing a friendly smile.

"You inquired about The S・A? You'll find out when class begins, but one thing I can tell you is that only the strongest will become The S・A." After Nakamura-Sensei said, the students looked thrilled and were determined to challenge themselves until they reached the Up Rank Students.

"Now, you are free to head to your dorm!" Takeda-Sensei declared as the teachers entered the academic building while the students proceeded to their dorms.

Way to the dorms was lined with cherry blossom trees, their petals fluttering gently in the breeze, creating a picturesque scene that filled the students with a sense of wonder and anticipation.

As they walked, lively conversations buzzed around, each student eager to share their thoughts about the day's orientation and the challenges that lay ahead.

+At First Year Boy's Dorm

The dorm building is filled with plants and gardens nearby. As an old structure, it looks like it was built 100 years ago or even longer. The dorms house students from their first to third years of study.

In another dorm, some guardians live with the students who are their masters. Besides that, the guardians also guide the academy students along their paths.

"Take-Chan! I think we should organize the luggage to put your clothes in the closet," said the fire guardian, who was sitting on his master's bed, while Takeru gazed out the window.

"What are you looking at?" he asked.

"That girl! I think I can sense a fire aura around her, but her guardian is water," Takeru replied, his eyes still focused on the girl who was talking with her guardian.

"Huh?.. Where?... Uh?..." Fire Guardian exclaimed, momentarily taken aback by the intensity of her presence as if he were under the weight of someone else's guardian aura.

"Ren? What's wrong? Are you alright?" Takeru asked, noticing that his guardian was on the verge of collapsing, as he seemed to lose his strength.

"Sorry, Take-Chan! I'm not feeling well and I need to rest, so you'll have to handle everything on your own!" said Ren, the Fire Guardian. He has always cared for his master since his very first breath, which makes him a bit concerned about his current state.

"Alright!... but... okay, I'll see you tomorrow!" Takeru exclaimed, feeling as if he were a four-year-old child worried about his parents while playing outside.

As Takeru settled into his dorm room, he couldn't shake the feeling of anticipation that buzzed in the air. The aura of the academy, with its rich history and promise of adventure, seemed to seep into every corner of the room.

He unpacked his belongings, placing his books and personal items on the desk, trying to create a sense of home in his new surroundings.

Just as he finished organizing his space, the door swung open, revealing a boy with an easy smile and an air of confidence. His presence was warm and inviting, and Takeru could immediately sense a kindred spirit.

"Hey! You must be my roommate," the boy said, extending a hand in greeting. "Name's Ishiki Jin. Nice to meet you."

Takeru shook his hand, grateful for the friendly introduction. "I'm Shiba Takeru. It's nice to meet you too, Ishiki."

"Just call me Jin, I meant we're roommates," he said.

"Then call me Takeru," he added with a smile. Since Jin is his first friend, he can't help but feel happy.

Jin's eyes sparkled with curiosity as he glanced around the room, taking in the shared living space.

"Looks like we're going to be spending a lot of time together. Hope you don't mind my collection of books—I tend to bring a library wherever I go," he chuckled, gesturing to a stack of books he carried in his arms.

Takeru smiled, feeling at ease. "Not at all. And what kind of books are those?"

"Mostly about elemental powers and ancient legends," Jin replied, placing the books carefully on his side of the room.

"I've always been fascinated by the stories of our world and how they might connect to what we're learning here."

Jin revealed that he had a particular knack for manipulating water, a talent that he was eager to develop further.

"Water, huh?" Takeru said, intrigued. "Funny, I noticed a girl with a fire aura this morning. Her guardian was water, which seemed unusual. Maybe there's more to our powers than we realize."

Jin looks at Takeru; he simply wears a confused expression and exclaims, "Heeee!...."

The two boys in the room carry on their conversation as the first boy meets his friend, while outside, the girl Takeru mentioned waits.

"Hmmm...hmmm.....haaa!!!!.... I can't believe I nearly got caught on my first day at school," she said, but her expression mirroring that of a child who has just discovered some captivating toys in a shop.

"But he still hasn't noticed, right? So don't worry, Sei! no one will learn about your true powers until I'm gone," the Water Guardian assured his master, vowing to protect her at all costs.

"Wait!... wait!, Does that mean I look like a scary master?" Sei asked, her confusion evident as she looked at her guardian.

"Hahaha... I truly meant it," he chuckled. While guardians typically serve their masters, this young girl viewed him as a best friend. At times, she even referred to him as her brother, which filled him with joy to have her as his master.

...

The moonlight softly illuminated the academy grounds, enveloping the cherry blossom trees along the pathways in a tranquil glow.

The gentle rustling of leaves shared whispers of the night's serene beauty, while the air was filled with a palpable sense of anticipation for the days ahead.

The next day is just around the corner, and the first class is about to begin. It's time for them to start on their adventures, as tomorrow marks the start of their journey, with the world eagerly awaiting the brilliance they will bring.
