Major General, a Male Zerg has been found on the battlefield!!

44

The situation was quite severe.

Who could tell him what kind of reaction one should have when a brother becomes a ‘stepfather’?

Should he stand up and bang the table in disagreement? Or should he hug the other person fiercely to cover up his shock?

Neither option seemed like something he could do.

He Qin sat stiffly in his seat, stunned for a full five minutes.

“My good deed, little Qin must support me, right? Hahaha,” the man scratched his head, using a silly laugh to mask his embarrassment.

In truth, he didn’t quite understand why Ivan insisted on getting approval from Little Qin and Rhys. Was it a Zerg custom to need friends’ support for a relationship?

However, his attempt to lighten the mood didn’t earn him any praise from his lover.

“Ow, why are you pinching me?” Roy cried out in pain. He wanted to argue with the female Zerg next to him, but seeing Ivan’s plaintive gaze, his heart thumped, and the complaint died in his throat.

“Father, don’t blame Roy. Your happiness is the most important thing for Rhys and me,” He Qin seemed to have convinced himself. His expression steadied and returned to normal.

Ivan was a female Zerg who had gone through hardships. After rescuing him, He Qin paid close attention to his mental state. He hadn’t expected Ivan to find a suitable romantic partner so soon.

Now it seemed that fate truly couldn’t be stopped. He had sensed the ambiguity between Roy and Ivan, but hadn’t expected it to develop so quickly.

“Father?” Roy caught the unfamiliar term in He Qin’s words and asked.

“Didn’t you explain the situation to him?” He Qin hadn’t expected his casual remark to be so thoroughly implemented by Ivan.

With a smile, Ivan replied smoothly, “That’s right, without your approval, Xiao Qin, I didn’t reveal my true identity.”

Roy interjected anxiously, “What true identity? My dear, do you have secrets with little Qin that I don’t know?”

His lover speaking so respectfully to another man and excluding him from the conversation was not something he wanted to see.

“You should explain it to him. Roy is impatient, and if you don’t clarify, he’ll keep questioning until you do,” He Qin said with a hidden smile, seeing Roy’s anxious curiosity. It seemed they had found someone who could handle this ‘wild troublemaker.’

With He Qin’s prompting, Ivan revealed his true identity to Roy, who had already established a relationship with him.

Upon hearing Ivan’s hidden ‘little secret,’ Roy’s mouth gaped, and his jaw nearly dropped to the floor. “Ivan, you… you and Rhys are father and son?” He gestured between Ivan and Rhys.

Only then did his dull nerves realize the striking resemblance between Rhys and Ivan. They both had golden eyes and silver hair, though one had long hair and the other short.

Previously, he had thought these two similar-looking Zerg were at most cousins or distant relatives.

The ages and appearances of Zerg were truly enigmatic.

“Female father is the term for the Zerg who lays the eggs; male father is the term for the one who impregnates the female Zerg. So…”

“So, they’re ‘mother and daughter’?” Roy stammered out the words ‘mother and daughter.’

“Pfft.”

He Qin had wanted to drink some water to calm down. Now, startled by Roy’s statement, he ended up spraying all the water from his mouth.

“Ah, this outfit is expensive, little Qin, you owe me.”

Roy, sitting directly opposite He Qin, was the first to be hit by the ‘waterfall.’ He jumped up, frantically trying to wipe the water droplets off his clothes with both hands.

Knowing how much today meant to Roy and seeing him in his most expensive outfit, Ivan gently pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and tenderly helped wipe him clean.

He looked just like a ‘dutiful wife.’

When He Qin joined the military, he was at the age when boys were the most mischievous and rebellious. He often played tricks on his older, more tolerant brothers.

So, Roy and Alger, frustrated yet helpless against him, would sometimes pretend to spank the naughty boy.

In his haste, Roy tried to ‘discipline’ He Qin as he used to, by raising his hand to smack him.

As soon as he lifted his arm, it was stopped by a force. “What do you think you’re doing?”

The fierce gaze of the Zerg major general shot over. Roy suddenly chickened out and tried to pull his wrist back, laughing awkwardly.

“Rhys, let go of Roy. He’s just joking around with me. We used to play like this all the time.” He Qin knew how strong Rhys was. He was worried that Rhys might accidentally crush Roy’s wrist and hastily shouted at Rhys.

But Rhys didn’t see it that way.

Ever since he became the male lord’s female lord, the male lord had shown him nothing but tenderness and affection. And now, he was being scolded by this human?

Maybe it was due to the hormonal changes during his pregnancy, but Rhys’s emotions had been more volatile lately. The injustice he felt was almost palpable, and this couldn’t go unnoticed by He Qin.

He Qin hugged the female Zerg’s head. “It’s okay, I’m not blaming you. I was just too anxious. I’m sorry, alright?” His deep voice resonated in Rhys’s ears.

Rhys was taller than He Qin, but he obediently bent his knees and used all his strength to maintain the posture, making it more comfortable for the male lord to hold him.

“Little Qin, don’t think you’re the only ones who can show affection. We can too.” Roy raised his eyebrows provocatively, leaning in to steal a kiss from Ivan.

But he didn’t succeed. His attempt was blocked by Ivan, who also gave him a slap on the face. Even so, he dared not complain and instead held Ivan’s hand.

“Hey, Roy, you don’t mind the age difference with Father, do you?”

“Of course not. You can’t even tell Ivan is over sixty. Even if you could, it wouldn’t matter to me.”

Roy’s survival instincts kicked in, and he quickly expressed his feelings to his beloved.

“Actually, the Zerg’s lifespan is 300 years. So, considering that, ‘Father’ is only in his twenties in human terms. Brother, you’re the lucky one.”

Roy, a quintessential straight man with all the bad habits of Earth humans, was someone He Qin knew well from living together for five or six years. Roy didn’t like doing laundry, left things lying around, couldn’t cook, and sometimes didn’t shower after sweating.

For someone like him to win the favor of a considerate and gentle female Zerg like Ivan, He Qin thought Roy must have done something right in his past life.

“Still calling me ‘brother’?” Roy squinted, his smile full of implications.

“What do you mean?” Seeing the familiar smile on the man’s face, He Qin knew that this guy had another mischievous idea.

“By seniority, I can now be considered your ‘stepfather,’ right? Call me ‘Dad’ and let me hear it.”

See, Roy’s request was anything but normal.

“No way.” He Qin turned his face away, resolute in his refusal. Although he sometimes reacted slowly to things, that didn’t mean he was stupid.

“Be a good boy, Little Qin. Call me ‘Dad’ and make me happy.”

Sure enough, brothers were always eager to become each other’s dad.

“No way, I won’t do it.”

“Come on, be good. Call me ‘Dad,’ and I’ll give you a candy.”

“I’m not a kid anymore. I don’t want candy, and I won’t call you ‘Dad.’”

He Qin was really frustrated now. According to seniority, if Roy and Rhys’s father got together, then he really would be a ‘stepfather.’ The feeling of having his brother suddenly become a generation higher than him, without being able to argue against it, was quite unpleasant.

Roy had booked a restaurant that Ivan loved. During the meal, he took great care of Ivan, constantly refilling his water and serving him food.

At first, Rhys was worried that the male lord’s human friend was just having a temporary whim. If he lost interest later, he might treat Ivan the way Qi Lun did. If Ivan were abandoned again, his personality would be completely shattered.

“Roy, you have to promise to always treat Ivan well and keep him as your top priority,” He Qin said during the meal, not focusing on eating but continuously questioning Roy until he got a vow-like promise from him.

“Alright, I promise to take good care of Ivan and prove it with time, warming him for a lifetime.” Roy pressed four fingers together and raised them solemnly, making a serious vow.

Ivan was one of the most ordinary female Zerg among the high-ranking ones. The suffering he had endured wasn’t particularly unusual.

After all, under such social rules, some female Zerg were treated even worse, discarded after being played with, or traded to other planets.

Female Zergs like him, who had never felt warmth since birth, were not uncommon in the empire. How many could successfully change their fate?

Meeting someone like Roy, who shone like the sun in his shadowy world, was his fortune.

“Mm, I believe you.” Ivan clasped the man’s calloused hand and sighed.

Since he was a close friend of the male lord, his character and personality should be top-notch. After this meal, Rhys also felt much more at ease.

“Little Qin, have you found the people who tried to assassinate you?”

“What? You were attacked? Little Qin, Rhys, are you okay?”

He Qin had indeed intended to hide this from Ivan. Fortunately, both he and Rhys were fine. Now that Roy had brought it up, he had to be honest.

“We’re fine.” He Qin reassured Ivan first and then explained the situation to Roy. “But the leader of those people escaped and is still at large.”

“Who’s been sent to capture them? Enzo’s unit?” Roy asked, ordering a bottle of wine, but since no one else wanted to drink, he had to drink alone.

“Enzo’s men are on it, and we’ve also asked the local military for help.”

“I know that forest. Some of my team members have been there before. How about I take the guys and make a trip?” Anything involving Xiao Qin was their business too. The friendship between men was straightforward and direct.

With the war over and the military no longer busy, Roy could report to his superiors and take the team members familiar with the area to search. His superiors would definitely approve of something that benefited Earth.

“That would be great. I’ll send you a sketch of the criminal later. Try to capture him alive; I have some questions to ask.”

“No problem. I refuse to believe we can’t catch a small-time crook on our turf.” Roy confidently patted his chest in assurance.

“Don’t be too cocky. If you fail, it’ll be embarrassing.” Clearly, someone was skeptical of Roy’s blind confidence.

“Dear, how can you undermine me like that?”

“Ahem, don’t call me that again.”

“Then, how about ‘honey’?”

“Call me that again, and you’re not allowed to see me for a week.”

“Ah, no, I’m sorry. I’d die if I didn’t see you for a day.”

Author’s note: Roy is such a pushover!
