“How about you and Xiao Qin stay for lunch, Major General?” Chief Lin eagerly invited Rhys, pulling out his phone to instruct the kitchen staff to start preparing the meal.
In the presence of the male Lord, Rhys’s identity is first as He Qin’s female lord, and second as a Major General of the Zerg.
Rhys would not make decisions on his own; he tilted his head, quietly waiting for the male lord’s response.
“Chief Lin, there’s no need to trouble you to prepare lunch for me and Rhys. I have some personal matters to attend to,” He Qin replied with a smile to the honest Chief Lin.
It seemed he was getting better at finding reasons that sounded irrefutable to avoid things he didn’t want to do.
Indeed, this excuse of “having personal matters” was particularly effective.
Anyone with a bit of social intelligence wouldn’t ask a guest, “What personal matters?” Thus, they couldn’t successfully argue against it.
“Then I won’t keep you. Here’s a pass that allows you to go almost anywhere within the corps,” Chief Lin said, handing over a pass in a cardholder.
He Qin accepted the pass and then cautiously approached the Zerg diplomats, “Do your job well and don’t disturb me and the Major General, understand?”
“Yes, yes, Lord He Qin,” the diplomat replied.
He Qin’s tone was a bit impatient, because from Roy’s words, he had learned that Ivan had suffered ridicule and bullying from some Zerg in places he couldn’t see. The diplomats in front of him was among those snobbish individuals.
He was indeed a very ‘vindictive’ and ‘protective’ person.
“Male Lord, are you in a bad mood?” Rhys asked.
“Hmph, those who only know how to bully the weak don’t have the right to affect my mood,” He Qin said dismissively, though he was seething inside.
“Male Lord, what is your relationship with that Earth female?” After being disciplined several times by He Qin, Rhys had learned not to dwell on things and to ask questions directly.
After all, the male Lord had said if he hid his thoughts or suppressed his emotions and got caught, the male Lord would sleep in the guest room for a week.
“I knew you were jealous,” He Qin teased. They happened to be on a deserted path, a bit tricky to navigate, with He Qin scouting ahead and occasionally warning Rhys about stones or hidden pits.
“Sister Xiaoya is a very caring older sister to me, akin to an ‘older brother’ figure in the Zerg,” He Qin explained, though he didn’t want to admit that Xiaoya and the other female soldiers had always claimed to be his ‘worrying mothers.’
Heads could be broken, blood could be shed, but dignity must not be lost.
Realizing he had overthought, Rhys gazed at the male’s back, pondering for a while before finally mustering the courage to gently tug at his sleeve, “Sorry, my male Lord,” looking as guilty as a scolded golden retriever.
Seeing Rhys’s docile demeanor made He Qin want to tease him a bit.
“Then I’ll punish you…” He Qin’s eyes sparkled with mischief, his playful side emerging once again.
“I’ll follow male Lord’s lead.” Here was another foolish female who willingly walked into He Qin’s grasp, ready to be bullied.
He Qin’s eyes drifted from Rhys’s flushed lips, then downwards, lingering on the well-defined chest. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, his gaze gradually descending further.
Rhys felt his heart tremble under the intense scrutiny. He sensed that the male Zerg could see through his clothes, taking in every detail of his body without any barriers.
This look, it seemed like when a hungry male Zerg spotted a delicacy.
Could it be that the male Lord intended to treat him like a meal on this path, to ‘devour him whole’?
The more he stared at the female zerg, the hotter He Qin’s heart burned. He pushed the towering Zerg Major General against a sturdy tree trunk, one arm around his lean waist and the other hand behind his head, fiercely pulling at his lips.
It was just after morning training had ended for the soldiers, a time when they returned to their dorms to rest and await lunch. He Qin guided Rhys along the path marked by the military insignia and his memory, leading him to Alger and the others’ dormitory.
“Careful,” He Qin swiftly caught the female Zerg who almost stumbled over the steps due to weak legs.
“Thank you, Your Highness,” Rhys rubbed his calves; the male Lord’s strength had grown, leaving his back scorched from rubbing against the tree trunk.
After training, sweaty men would typically remove their cumbersome clothing upon returning to the dormitories they had shared for ten years, revealing their bare upper bodies in front of their brothers.
To prevent soldiers from engaging in unauthorized activities out of sight of their superiors, the dormitory doors were left unlocked in the military.
As He Qin pushed open the door, several shirtless men resting on their beds simultaneously looked towards him. He reacted quickly, immediately covering the female Zerg’s eyes with his hand.
The men responded in unison, swiftly grabbing the clothes lying on the beds, some even snatching those carelessly thrown on the ground.
“Don’t take mine, that’s my shirt.”
“Nonsense, this one has a hole, it’s mine.”
“Hey, stop fighting over it, it’s almost torn apart.”
“Whose is this? It’s so slim.”
In the chaotic scene, the men were in disarray for a moment.
They naturally didn’t feel uncomfortable being shirtless in front of He Qin, but mainly because their ‘brother’s wife’ was also present. Even if their faces were thick-skinned, they wouldn’t dare to appear half-naked in front of the ‘opposite sex.’
“Alright, you can open your eyes now,” He Qin removed his hand and couldn’t resist tousling the few strands of silver hair that stood up on the Major General’s head.
The men wanted to approach but hesitated because of the Major General behind He Qin. They stopped about a meter away from him.
“He Qin, what are you wearing?” He knew that the first thing his brothers would criticize was his splendid Zerg attire.
He Qin confidently unbuckled his belt. “Enough talk. I came to borrow some clothes from you guys. I’m sweating to death in this thick outfit,” he said, unbuttoning his jacket.
“You’ve grown taller, He Qin. You can wear this old one of mine. It’s a bit worn out but very clean.” Alger measured both their heights and pulled out an old-style military uniform from his cherished suitcase.
This military uniform, the male Lord also has an identical one; Rhys had seen it in the male Zerg’s separate wardrobe before.
“Long time no wear, thanks bro,” He Qin took the clothes and naturally walked into the dormitory’s bathing area as if he were at home.
While He Qin changed clothes in the bathroom, outside the door, the men and the Major General exchanged awkward glances.
“Ah woo, ah woo,” strange cries broke the tension between them.
Following the direction of the sound, Rhys looked over, and the men tactfully changed positions, clearing a smooth path for the Major General’s line of sight.
In a corner of this room, there was a large black cage housing an unknown creature that Rhys had never encountered before. It called out to him a few times in a way he’d never heard before, and when it saw his attention was drawn, the small creature began to paw at the cage door’s lock.
Zergs did not have such creatures, but Rhys seemed to remember seeing orc cubs during one of his trips, and this little one resembled them.
Did it want to go out? Rhys immediately sensed what the little one wanted to express.
He approached the cage, half squatting down, and grasped the huge lock head. With a strong tug, the lock snapped into two pieces.
“Major, be careful of being bitten. This little thing is fierce. Brothers get scratched when they feed it,” Alger extended an arm marked with bloodstains before the major general opened the cage door.
Rhys glanced at the scratches on the man’s arm, then turned back to stare at the small creature looking up at him.
“Ah woo, woo, woo…” The little creature squeezed out a cry from its throat, its big eyes revealing a sense of grievance.
Seeing the hero who came to rescue it stop his actions, the creature leaned its head toward the Major General’s hand with clearly defined joints, and occasionally stretched out its tongue to lick his fingers.
Startled by the odd feeling transmitted by his fingers, the Major General subconsciously withdrew his hand. With a “snap,” the broken lock fell to the ground, and the little creature took the opportunity to burst through the cage door.
“Hiss.” The men suddenly gasped.
Everyone present had suffered from the creature’s “merciless iron claws,” leading to a daily struggle to feed it.
Letting it out of the cage was an idea that the men had never had.
But what the men didn’t expect was that after bursting out of the cage, the creature didn’t run around. It retracted its claws, sniffed the Major General’s scent, and crawled into the Major General’s arms without moving.
“Hey, when did this little guy become so obedient?” Alger couldn’t resist reaching out to test it again, but before his hand could stretch out, the creature stuck its head out from the Major General’s arms and snarled fiercely at him.
Damn it, a face to show them.
Even though it had been violent first, the creature looked as if it had been wronged as it turned to the Major General, sobbing pitifully.
After He Qin changed his clothes and saw that he had restored his clean and neat self in the mirror, he disdainfully picked up his pile of gorgeous clothes and walked out of the bathroom.
“This is?”
Who could tell him, the little thing peeking out of Rhys’s arms with only his buttocks exposed, and when he appeared?
This color, this size, seems to be…
“Isn’t this a leopard? Where did you get it?”
This type mostly lives in tropical grassland areas, a wild animal cub under global protection status. How did it end up in Rhys’s arms?
“Last time, we had a mission in Country F. This little guy was under attack by vultures, so I brought it back. After it’s healed, I plan to send it back to its local habitat.”
Wild animals under global protection status eventually need to be returned to nature. Over thousands of years, the figures of many animals have disappeared from the natural world.
From ignorance to widespread awareness, humans have come to understand the importance of wildlife conservation, especially after experiencing invasions from alien species on Earth, realizing the need to coexist with all creatures.
“Male Lord,” Rhys tightened his grip on the small creature as he heard Alger’s response, looking to the male Zerg for help.
Hmm, it seems Rhys really likes this little leopard cub.
Rhys is reserved by nature, rarely showing his preferences openly. Even when he eats C-country dishes that suit his taste, he remembers table manners and quietly eats a bit more.
It’s rare to see Rhys reveal such a strong desire to possess something. “Hey, Mr. Enzo, X Legion has an injured young leopard. Can I take it home for a couple of days?” He Qin dialed Enzo’s number.
“Of course, I’ll negotiate with their leaders. Even if it’s a small leopard, Mr. He Qin, you should be careful not to get scratched or bitten.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Using his status and power to achieve his goals is not something He Qin would typically do. However, for his beloved Rhys, he willingly breaks his principles several times.
“So, shall we take this little guy with us?” He Qin squeezed the back of the leopard’s neck, pulling its head out from Rhys’s arms. He was afraid the little creature might suffocate or faint.
“Xiao Qin, you’re our savior. Hurry up and take it away.” The men cried and prayed like desperate souls, finally succeeding in sending away this difficult-to-handle little creature today.
Everyone felt amazed. How could such a wild little leopard behave so obediently in He Qin’s and the Major General’s hands?
