Among the supplies brought back to the Empire were various poultry and livestock, thousands of types of grain seeds such as wheat and corn, and hundreds of mineral resources including coal, granite, and more.
Humans perfectly displayed the Earth’s wealth of goods. With Rhys’ spatial storage fully packed, nearly half of the entire starship’s rooms were also filled.
“That’s everything.” Enzo counted the items three times in total. “Mr. He Qin, Major General Rhys, have a safe journey.”
“And thank you for letting us take the little leopard with us.” He Qin had a rope looped around the baby leopard’s neck. The little one fiercely growled at every human and zerg passing by, and He Qin wrapped the rope around his hand twice.
“Not at all, it’s the least I can do.” The leopard stared at him with a gaze that hinted at being torn apart by a beast. Enzo waved his hand and took two steps back.
After exchanging pleasantries, it was almost time to leave. He Qin checked the time on his phone several times, while Rhys stood outside the cabin door, repeatedly looking into the distance. Both seemed to be waiting for someone.
“Majir General, the cockpit is ready. We can depart anytime.” The soldier in the cockpit had been waiting for a while and seeing no command from the Major General to depart, sent someone to notify him.
“Just wait a moment.”
As soon as he finished speaking, camouflage military vehicles appeared on the only road leading to the airport.
“Vroom…”
The jeeps lined up neatly and sped toward the direction of the starship, capable of matching sports cars in speed, performing slick drifts before stopping outside the airport.
Tall and sturdy men dressed in camouflage uniforms marched rhythmically into the airport.
“Xiao Qin, this time we’ve come to see you off.” Zhuo Yan represented the team.
Last time when He Qin left Earth, due to the secrecy demanded by the zerg race, no one knew his departure time or could come to see him off.
This time, the men canceled all their tasks, freeing up the entire day, just to gather all their brothers in the team to bid farewell to their little brother.
“I’ve packed the gifts I brought for everyone. Take them on missions, they might save your life when necessary.” In addition to individual gifts for each person, He Qin also gave each of his brothers a ‘Zerg Protection Shield’.
This protective shield was exclusive to the zerg military and could only be acquired through Rhys’s connections.
Unable to fight alongside them, he could at least protect their lives to the best of his ability. With their brothers now equipped with advanced zerg technology, they were probably the safest frontline unit on Earth.
“After you return, find out the gender of the zerg eggs and send me a message. Also, if it turns out Qi Lun really did that thing, let me know.”
“You must not neglect the zerg rules just because Xiao Qin has a good nature. Take good care of the little zerg cubs and your mate. Understand?”
“Yes, I understand, Female Father.” Rhys obediently nodded his head, listening to Ivan’s instructions.
Even in the military, he would find time to visit the annoying Qi family, just to see Ivan who gave birth to and raised him. This departure might mean not seeing them for a long time, a first-time experience for Rhys.
At times like this, Rhys didn’t know what to say. He could only quietly tug at the sleeves of the zerg’s garment, expressing his reluctance to Ivan.
“Rhys, Xiao Qin, my children, you need to depart.” Ivan also came along with the men’s vehicles to see the children. Unlike the excited Earth humans, he remained composed.
They would have to leave sooner or later, and delaying any longer was pointless.
“We’ll meet again, Female father, brothers.”
“Take care of yourselves, Xiao Qin.”
After bidding farewell one by one, He Qin and Rhys walked side by side into the starship. The hatch closed, and soon the starship disappeared from view.
Once out of Earth’s atmosphere, without the risk of burning up from excessive speed, the starship accelerated rapidly. At this rate, it would take about three days to return to the central star system.
The pitch-black expanse of space seemed like a monstrous creature ready to devour, and He Qin stood in front of the starship’s glass, using his mental senses to feel they were navigating between stars and planets. Space debris like artificial satellite fragments and dust drifted around the starship several times.
Under the Major General’s orders, the male zerg’s room could not be accessed freely. Over these days, the room had not been cleaned promptly, accumulating a layer of dust and stagnant air.
Given Rhys’s current condition, he couldn’t afford to inhale these harmful substances excessively, so he delegated all cleaning tasks to the cleaning robots.
Rhys took out a new set of feather blankets from the spatial environment. “Male Lord, would you like to rest for a while?” Knowing they were leaving Earth, the male lord hadn’t slept well.
Unlike the previous return to the Empire with the zerg, this time, he could openly sleep with the male lord in the same bed.
“You must be tired, Rhys.”
“Yeah, a bit.”
He Qin looked at his partner. The female zerg was wearing a radiation-proof suit he had bought at an Earth market, which softened its sharp edges with a gentle glow.
Perhaps due to excessive nutrition, the zerg’s egg were almost the size of ordinary zerg eggs after nearly four months. Rhys’s waist remained slender, but his belly had grown significantly, no longer fitting into his tailored military uniform.
It seemed that after returning, he would have to consult Dr. Bu Ya immediately in the Zerg Obstetrics Department.
“Come here, lie down.” He Qin leaned against the head of the bed, patting his thigh.
Rhys obediently laid his head on the male lord’s strong thigh. He wasn’t sleepy, but lying like this felt quite comfortable.
“Rhys, why do female zergs have wings, but male zergs don’t?”
Rhys couldn’t immediately answer the zerg’s question. It was a question he had never thought about over the centuries, and no male zerg had raised it before.
However, he had once seen a drawing in a rare book in the library. “I once saw a drawing in a certain book. It depicted that millions of years ago, male zergs were as numerous as female zergs, and the male zergs in the drawing had wings.”
“Can that book still be found?” He Qin continued, suddenly interested if male zergs also possessed such powerful weapons.
“It should still be available. After we return, I’ll ask Jack to find it for you,” Rhys replied. He knew his male lord was always fascinated by wings. Whatever the male lord desired, he would make sure to fulfill it, especially if it was just a book.
Rhys felt the male zerg’s thigh shifting and looked up in curiosity. The male zerg rubbed against the wooden bedhead, appearing hesitant to speak.
“Male lord, is there something you want to say?” From his understanding, there was definitely something troubling the male zerg.
He Qin stopped rubbing his back. “Um, Rhys, about… ”
He hesitated for a while before explaining, “Actually, the night before last, I noticed something unusual around my scapula.”
Upon hearing this, Rhys realized that the male zerg, who liked going shirtless, had been obediently wearing shirts these days and even voluntarily put on pajamas to sleep.
He thought the male zerg finally started taking his advice seriously, but was it just to cover up the unusual thing on his back?
“Please take off your shirt quickly and let me see,” Rhys said, unbuttoning the male zerg’s outer garment.
He Qin’s back was still smooth as usual, but what was unusual were the red patterns around his shoulder blades. On closer inspection, there were even some cracks beneath the red lines.
“Do you feel anything?” Rhys asked softly.
Rhys ran his hand along the raised patterns. He was afraid of hurting the male zerg if he pressed too hard, so he pulled his hand back.
He Qin shivered, making the red patterns appear brighter. “I don’t feel anything special, just itching.”
“It looks like the bone sutures during the growth of juvenile wings.”
Female zerg cubs don’t hatch with wings. The wing growth period for female zergs is between 3 to 5 years.
The shoulder blades of female zerg cubs begin to grow rapidly. To allow for the wings’ flexible contraction, the skin is stretched, creating a gap.
During this stage, the back of female zerg cubs is particularly sensitive. Clothing fabrics cannot be too rough, or they’ll constantly feel itchy.
Is the male lord experiencing this now?
“Male Lord, it seems like you’re growing wings.”
“What? Am I not a male zerg?”
Wait, even if everything was a mistake, mating between female zergs couldn’t produce offspring, right?
“Perhaps it’s… atavism?” Rhys speculated.
To facilitate a comparison, Rhys also extended his wings. The enormous wings completely covered the large bed. He carefully retracted the wing spines and aligned the base of his wings with the male lord’s.
The wings, coated in metallic colors, shimmered under the light.
In He Qin’s eyes, Rhys’s wings were absolutely stunning. He even dreamed of having “Major General’s Wings.”
He noticed that Rhys’s wing roots also had patterns on the skin, but they were silver and not raised.
“It really looks like it,” He Qin murmured to himself. “Could I really have wings? That would be amazing!” With that thought, He Qin jumped excitedly off the bed.
Rhys wasn’t as carefree as He Qin. Over the years, He Qin had never exhibited atavism. Rhys was more concerned about why He Qin was experiencing this change.
Was it due to He Qin’s frequent use of psychic abilities? Or was it because of that blue potion?
Inside the room, the elder female zerg looked worried, while the young male zerg looked exhilarated.
Quite the extreme contrast!
“Boom.” “Thud.”
The interior of the starship shook, and the room lights instantly went out. The hanging lamps swayed dangerously, looking as though they might fall any second.
“What’s going on?” Rhys hadn’t even had time to retract his wings before he used his light-brain to contact the cockpit.
“General, it seems there’s a problem with the starship’s combustion chamber. I’ve already sent someone to investigate,” the female zerg opposite him replied fearfully under Major General’s interrogation.
Rhys then contacted another female zerg via light-brain, “Alert all patrols and send a team to inspect the fuel chamber. The rest, guard the entrance with the trading supplies, and be wary of anyone suspicious sneaking onto the starship.”
Vaguely, Rhys sensed that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.
“Understood, Major General.”
Rhys, with his exceptional night vision, found the emergency power switch. “Male Lord, I’m going to the command center to assess the situation. Are you coming with me?” It was too dangerous to leave the male zerg alone here.
At this moment, a large hole appeared in the fuel chamber wall, and two figures jumped onto the starship from their spacecraft. They stealthily left the fuel chamber before any zerg soldiers arrived.
It seemed like they knew detailed information about the starship. Along the way, they had preemptively destroyed hidden surveillance devices.
In the darkness, green arrows flashed on the walls, then disappeared moments later. Following the arrows, they hurried towards the central room of the starship, keeping low and moving quickly.

Author’s note: He Qin: “Stranded on Earth, transformed on the battlefield, my psychic abilities matured unintentionally, and now I’ve grown wings?”
Rhys: “The male lord is indeed quite special.”
