Chapter 3: Crossroads
The moment Anna and Trisha entered the building where Mr Lopez had set up the party, all eyes were suddenly on them.
Everyone obviously know who Trisha is, the beautiful daughter of a dignified billionaire who runs the Threefold Empire that actually supplies products for the companies in this city. She was definitely high class and her dress, a gold dress which illuminated her path was something which cost millions of dollars to purchase.
However, no one knew who Anna is. What attracted attention is simply her unmistakable beauty and her alluring silver dress, who's glow could actually spread far.
Anna was not used to so much attention and she slowly strode towards a corner of the building and spoke with Trisha.
"I think I'm no longer interested. I want to go back home."
Trisha frowned.
"Are you being serious right now? Relax, nothing would happen. Just take this as a simple exposure, it would make the outside world's eye to open and they would realize what a beauty that must have been well hidden for a long time. You should be yourself and move about. You should even interact with these people."
Anna stared at Trisha nervously.
"I hope you're right. I'm not feeling at ease today. As if something bad would happen."
Trisha rolled her eyes.
"Relax, nothing is happening. You're just being overly worried for no reason."
Trisha left her to greet her friends while Anna sat on her own as she admired the entire decorum. The building was lightened extravagantly and golden chandelier hung from above and illuminated the whole place with a golden light. Sometimes, the light interchanges colors, it can either be red, purple or gold or it can be dim or bright.
The waiter pulled closer and varieties of drinks pilled on the tray. "Select any drink pretty damsel."
Anna raised her head and smiled at the waiter. She stared at the varieties of drinks, Vodka, Heineken, beer, root beer, bitter wine, life... all were alcohol and she doesn't drink any of them.
"It's fine, you don't have my likes." She politely declined with a smile.
The waiter suddenly seem to smile like a fool and he asked: "Does my lady want orange fruit juice or cold strawberry juice?"
Anna's eyes sparked with interest.
"Sure, get me those."
When he left, Anna was suddenly excited. The strawberry juice is a drink she had always desired to taste before the day she would die, but because that strawberry juice is expensive, she couldn't afford it, she gave up on it. However now, she would finally get to taste the juice.
In two minutes, the waiter returned with a glass of orange juice and strawberry juice, Anna just collected the strawberry juice and the waiter left her alone.
She took a sip and the flavour of the juice spread through her taste buds which ignited a warm feeling within her.
How would it feel like not to die?
How would it feel like to live a normal life?
I actually wish that I have more time, but I don't, I also wish that I have been healthy like my mom, but I'm not.... sigh!
The next moment, the light dimmed and it introduced a special guest, with the lights spiraling, the music blaring softly.
Wealthy men occasionally went forward to welcome the important guest, however Anna was not interested. Their important guest is not her important guest, she simply savored the taste of her strawberry juice, knowing that this might be the last time she would have to drink such expensive juice.
Anna stared over to the place Trisha went to and she was there with her friends, discussing, laughing and holding hands, when Anna bent to straighten her straw that has gone the wrong way within the cup, and raised back her head, Trisha was gone.
'What...'
"Where did she go to? Wait, wasn't she here a few seconds ago, how did she leave this massive building in a few seconds?"
Anna thought for a while. "Just to close my eyes and open them, she's gone."
Chills suddenly covered her back.
If Trisha isn't in this building, she would never be comfortable, she knew that. However, she decided to calm down that maybe Trisha and her friends just stepped out to get something. Maybe, there was a catching up, to do.
Suddenly, a man walked up to her, his silver eyes staring at her with interest, a spark that actually fueled lust.
Anna glared at the man suspiciously, while slowly keeping her strawberry juice behind her. Why is this man here?
This man had been seated over the trenches in his purple tuksedo, actually minding his business. But as soon as Trisha vanishes, he's coming over to her.
"Hello pretty, I can see that you're all alone, no man by your side to protect you."
Anna glared at him and smiled, "it's fine. I don't even need protection, I'll be fine!"
Her smile was even charming that the man simply stick around, bringing up one boring topics after another that caused Anna's blood to boil occasionally.
"Oh, your dad died? Who knows maybe, he wasn't destined to live. You don't know what he would have done to you if he was still alive."
"Wait, you're a graduate? I didn't know. Have you found a good company job?"
And...
"Oh, I know. I'm really sorry that unemployment hit you hard. I'll link you somewhere if you are willing to pay the price."
Anna's face was red with fury. She did not even know how she ended up in this situation which seem inescapable.
Her eyes were red.
"You know wat Mr diovsen..."
He immediately corrected: "It's Olsen!"
"Whatever, I want to be alone. I want to ponder on this discussion so I wouldn't want to be distracted. Please!"
The man, Mr Olsen raised his hands and smiled. "Fine!" He moved back but was still rooted like six feets close to her.
Anna stared at him. "I've given you some space pretty damsel, you can remain alone in your thoughts."
Anna was stumped.
"I meant that, you should go! That's what I mean by I want to be alone."
Anna felt that the man was weird and she picked the strawberry juice that she had kept aside and began to sip on it.
However in the next minute, her head grew heavy and she could clearly feel herself floating.
She was dizzy, and it grew much worst that she couldn't stand up from where she sat.
A realization suddenly dawn on her, she has been drugged.
She raised her cup of strawberry juice and glared at it before staring at Mr Olsen.
"What did you do?"
