Chapter 14: Chapter 14: The Vengeful Thor
When Thor found himself at a loss, a sudden realization struck him.
The mission's focus was on preventing Stark's death, not just meddling with the Mandarin incident or stopping Iron Man's retirement.
Iron Man stepping away from his suit wasn't a permanent departure—Tony would inevitably return. Even if Thor didn't intervene, Stark would ultimately rejoin the fight.
This part of the mission seemed oddly redundant. So why had the system included it?
Thor frowned, thinking. The rewards for missions were always proportional to their difficulty. What about Extremis made it worthy of this "hell-level" task?
Perhaps, Thor thought, the system was hinting that solving the task required addressing the Mandarin incident directly.
Waiting for over a decade for the plot to naturally unfold wasn't an option. The solution had to come from attacking the issue at its root.
The Mandarin event revolved around two key figures: Aldrich Killian, the mastermind, and Maya Hansen, the botanist and creator of Extremis.
At this point, Killian was just an ardent admirer of Tony Stark and would be difficult to track down. Maya Hansen, however, was already a known figure in the scientific community. She had likely begun her early work on Extremis.
Thor decided to enlist S.H.I.E.L.D.'s help in finding her. After all, if Stark could stand him up, it wouldn't have been unreasonable to ask for assistance in return.

Hawaii, a Serene Beach
Maya Hansen was enjoying a rare moment of relaxation, her thoughts far from the chaos of her laboratory, when a man suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Sorry, I don't recall making an appointment," she said, raising an eyebrow. She assumed Thor was yet another man looking to strike up a conversation—and she wasn't entirely wrong.
Maya was passionate about her work. Her research had the potential to revolutionize humanity, but it was still in its infancy, riddled with challenges and limited by a lack of funding. Most dismissed her vision as a pipe dream.
She'd come here to escape the noise of skepticism and doubt. Relationships weren't even on her radar, though she couldn't deny that Thor was... striking.
Thor smiled confidently. "I know you don't take appointments. Your mind is in your lab, isn't it, Miss Maya Hansen?"
Maya froze, her expression shifting from polite disinterest to curiosity. "You know my name? And... my work?"
"Of course," Thor replied, his tone serious. "Your vision, as radical as it seems to others, is on the right track."
He continued, "But I also know the resistance you face. Most people look at the world through a narrow lens. They spend their lives trying to widen it, but when someone like you suggests the lens could be much larger than they imagine, they reject the possibility outright."
Maya's eyes lit up with recognition. For the first time in a long while, someone seemed to understand.
"I'm beginning to believe you didn't just dig up my info to flirt with me," she said with a smile.
Thor chuckled. "Well, I'm here to invest in you... and maybe flirt a little, too."
Thor's grin widened as he added silently to himself, Take that, Stark. You stood me up? Fine. I'll cut off your chance with her entirely.
Maya laughed. "If what you're saying is true, I wouldn't mind."
She was skeptical that someone her age could provide the resources she needed. Still, if there was even a shred of truth to his claims, this was an opportunity she couldn't afford to dismiss.
Thor glanced around, ensuring they were alone. Lowering his voice, he said, "I'll arrange everything you need: funding, advanced materials, and a team of experts. But as I mentioned, the world you know is about to change."
He stepped closer, his tone growing serious. "If you're ready to step into a much larger reality, follow me."
Maya hesitated, her scientific mind racing. This man, strange as he was, had sparked her curiosity. She followed him toward a secluded corner of the beach.
Thor took her hand, a spark of electricity dancing around his fingertips.
"What are you—?" Maya began, but before she could finish, a burst of lightning erupted at Thor's feet. The next moment, they shot into the sky.
