Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Uru Metal
"Han, you can't just say things like that lightly," Eitri said sternly, his eyes locked on Han Yu. The King of Asgard, Odin, had waged wars across the Nine Realms, uniting and ruling them. But from Han Yu's words, it seemed like the so-called "unexpected event in Asgard" was far more than just a catastrophe.
It might even involve... the destruction of Asgard!
Han Yu asked, "Odin has a daughter. Do you know about this?"
"How do you know that?"
Eitri's eyes narrowed in shock. Everyone knew Odin had two sons, but almost no one was aware that he once had a daughter—Hela.
She was also known as the Goddess of Death, Hela.
Hela had once been Asgard's executioner, Odin's right hand, and the first wielder of Mjolnir. However, after Odin conquered the Nine Realms, he sought to govern them with benevolence. Hela, on the other hand, favored violence and wanted to annihilate any nation that disobeyed.
Sensing her intentions, Odin stripped Hela of her powers and banished her to the underworld, setting the stage for the later stories of Thor and Loki.
As the creator of Mjolnir, Eitri naturally knew this history. Aside from a few long-hidden gods of immense power, only Odin and Eitri were aware of Hela's existence. This is why he was so stunned that Han Yu knew about it.
"How do I know?" Han Yu mused silently. "I can't exactly tell you I'm a time traveler and saw it all in a movie."
Outwardly, Han Yu maintained a calm demeanor, smiling faintly as he said, "Don't worry about that. Just know that the future I'm showing you is real."
"What do you want?"
"I need Uru metal."
Uru metal was a rare mineral found only in Asgard's palace. It had the unique property of storing energy, particularly magical energy, and had a natural affinity for magic.
For a sorcerer, acquiring equipment forged from Uru metal could significantly amplify their magical abilities.
However, forging it was a near-impossible task. Ordinary flames were entirely inadequate. At the very least, one needed the core temperature of a planet or an extraordinarily potent fire magic to melt this metal.
As Eitri's face shifted between expressions of shock and contemplation, Han Yu smiled and said, "Uru metal in exchange for peace for your dwarven star. Take your time to decide."
With that, he turned and resumed refining vibranium, leaving Eitri to ponder the proposition.
Watching the boy's retreating figure, Eitri felt conflicted. Up until now, Han Yu had always seemed like a formidable blacksmith.
But now, he was suddenly someone who knew the future destruction of the dwarven star—and someone with the power to protect it.
It was a difficult reality for Eitri to accept.
After ten minutes of silence, Eitri's voice finally broke through, "If you can protect us, then I'll take the deal!"
Han Yu turned back with a bright smile. "Deal!"
"Ding! A new item from the Marvel Universe has been detected: 'Unlimited Usage Rights to Uru Metal.' Reward granted: 100 upgrade points!"
Hearing the voice in his mind, even Han Yu, with his calm disposition, couldn't help raising his eyebrows. A hundred upgrade points!
Ordinarily, completing a cross-world collection mission would only yield around twenty points. This was equivalent to skipping five entire missions!
"As expected of Uru metal. Vibranium doesn't even come close," Han Yu murmured.
Eitri thought Han Yu was speaking to him and asked, "What?"
"Nothing," Han Yu replied with a smile, shaking his head. Just as he had done earlier with Black Panther, he handed Eitri a Green Lantern ring. With a cheerful grin, he said, "Go back and build a shield generator. Place this ring inside it. The energy shield it generates will remain intact even if ten large battleships bombard it for ten straight days."
Eitri took the ring, inspecting it curiously. "Is it really that powerful?"
Han Yu's grin widened. "Money-back guarantee."
In the Marvel Universe, planetary conquests often relied on firepower. The energy shield generated by Han Yu's Green Lantern ring wasn't invincible—it was just that the firepower most armies wielded wasn't strong enough to breach it. Only weapons with extreme power, like the Power Stone, could deal significant damage to it.
Unaware of Han Yu's interdimensional shop or the fact that Han Yu had already gained unlimited usage rights for Uru metal after their deal, Eitri returned with a whole box of Uru metal and left it in the workshop before hurrying off.
True to his nature, Eitri, much like Tony Stark before him, couldn't resist studying such a marvelous artifact right away to uncover its secrets.
After Eitri departed, Han Yu opened the box. The Uru metal didn't appear particularly extraordinary. It was shaped like a long, pentagonal prism—narrow at the top and wide at the bottom—and resembled silver in its appearance.
"Let's see how durable this thing is."
Eager to test it, Han Yu picked up a piece of Uru metal and gave it a light knock. The sensation surprised him—it was astonishingly lightweight, as if he were holding an empty plastic container. Despite its size, it weighed only a fifth of what a similarly sized piece of conventional metal would.
Uru metal was known for its incredible ability to absorb magical energy. While Han Yu didn't possess magic, the immense spiritual power from his Undying Seal and the boundless energy of the Green Lantern were equivalent to magic.
With narrowed eyes, Han Yu held the Uru metal in one hand, hovering his other hand above it. He began channeling his spiritual energy from the Undying Seal through his fingers into the metal.
As soon as the energy touched the Uru metal, it was absorbed instantly. The metal seemed to come alive, trembling and glowing faintly as it greedily consumed the spiritual energy Han Yu poured into it.
"As expected, this stuff is extraordinary!"
Han Yu withdrew his hand as if he'd been shocked, his narrowed eyes now glinting with excitement. Unlike other metals that could only hold energy on their surface, Uru metal absorbed the energy into its very core without any resistance from its structure.
"Time to start forging."
The box contained twenty pieces of Uru metal. Forging a weapon similar to Thor's Mjolnir would require about ten pieces, but Han Yu decided to throw all twenty into a planetary furnace to begin smelting.
The furnace, running at 50% power, reached temperatures of hundreds of thousands of degrees—far surpassing the Sun's surface temperature of about 5,600 degrees Celsius. At such heat, ordinary metals like silver or iron would vaporize instantly.
Even at these terrifyingly high temperatures, Han Yu wouldn't dare claim he could survive unscathed. Yet the Uru metal within the flames remained unchanged—it only became slightly brighter.
"Well, this is interesting," Han Yu murmured, grinning. "So heat-resistant. Alright, my sturdy friend, it looks like today you'll get the workout you deserve."
