Chapter 211: C146(2)
Dumbledore's expression darkened as he observed the scene.
"Tom's magic feels even stronger than before," Dumbledore said gravely. "Could it be related to that potion?"
"It doesn't matter," Kain replied calmly. "I will handle it."
Kain continued speaking to Dumbledore: "Once he summons all the Death Eaters, you can cast the anti-Apparition spell over the area. Leave the rest to me."
Horcruxes can indeed grant immortality, allowing the soul to linger and endure through magical items or scattered fragments, functioning similarly to the ghosts at Hogwarts.
Afterward, Voldemort used the Dark Mark on Barty Crouch Jr. to summon his remaining Death Eaters. In response, the dark clouds overhead grew black as ink.
Moments later, two streaks of black mist streaked down from the sky, materializing into Death Eaters who landed beside Voldemort.
Kain chuckled. "How disappointing. Just two people and a cripple with a severed hand show up for the so-called 'Dark Lord.' Dumbledore, are you still worried that this kind of power could threaten the wizarding world?"
Voldemort's expression twisted in fury at Kain's mockery. His resurrection was intended to inspire awe, but with most of his followers locked in Azkaban and the location ill-suited for grandeur, it was anything but impressive.
Dumbledore, too, couldn't help but smile faintly at Kain's words. Without hesitation, he raised his wand and cast a large anti-Apparition spell, anchoring it to cover the entire area surrounding the Riddle House.
As the Headmaster of Hogwarts, Dumbledore was well-versed in this spell. With his magical strength, even Voldemort could not escape using Apparition.
"Who's there?"
Voldemort's anger flared as he noticed the anti-Apparition spell. His frustration grew—his few remaining followers were outnumbered, and now his enemies were encroaching on his territory.
"Tom, your resurrection ceremony took far too long. The headmaster and I have been waiting for ages," Kain said mockingly, using the Flying Charm to levitate directly in front of Voldemort.
With a casual wave, he freed Harry from the stone statue that had bound him and sent the boy flying back toward Dumbledore.
"Tom, where are your manners? Shouldn't you salute your master? Oh, wait—how old are you now? Do you remember the diary? That version of Tom was my servant."
Harry, now safely behind Dumbledore, looked at him with wide eyes. "Professor Dumbledore! It's Voldemort—he's back! He's been resurrected!"
"It's all right, Harry. Trust Professor Pent," Dumbledore said reassuringly. He gently guided Harry farther back, keeping his wand trained on Voldemort and the two Death Eaters, ensuring they couldn't escape.
Voldemort, however, ignored Harry. He gave a tense, almost manic laugh. "Heh... let me guess. The Dark Lord's been gone for so long that young wizards like you have forgotten his power and terror?"
As his laughter turned into a snarl, Voldemort's fury became palpable. Kain's words had stoked his rage. One of his Horcruxes had been destroyed, Harry Potter had been rescued right under his nose, and, worst of all, Dumbledore and Kain had been watching silently, waiting for his resurrection without intervening.
Voldemort thrived on fear, ruling the wizarding world through terror. But without that fear, resistance would grow.
Barty Crouch Jr., standing beside Voldemort, stepped forward. "Master, that is Kain Pent. He imprisoned many of your loyal followers in Azkaban after the Quidditch World Cup."
Barty Crouch Jr. endured the pain of his broken hand and told Voldemort that he had escaped the Quidditch field by sheer luck. More than twenty people had besieged him, but they were helpless against him.
Barty Crouch Jr. even boldly compared Kain and Voldemort, feeling that their magical strength was nearly equal.
"Enough gossip, Tom. My time is limited."
Thunder exploded!
Kain stretched out his finger, and a dozen explosive curses appeared in the sky instantly, attacking Voldemort and the other three Death Eaters.
Of the four, only Voldemort reacted, casting spells silently and wandlessly. Barty Crouch Jr. and the other Death Eaters didn't even know what spell Kain had used. Moreover, Kain's explosive spells were far more powerful than those of other wizards.
The explosive spells detonated like four or five grenades going off at once.
As for the Death Eaters and Voldemort, each had to face four or five explosive curses.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The explosive fireworks instantly lifted the map on the ground, the noise sounding like thunder in a rainstorm. Harry, from a distance, immediately covered his ears in pain.
In just the first round of spells, Barty Crouch Jr. and the other two Death Eaters were killed immediately. Voldemort, too, was left somewhat embarrassed. His body was covered in mud and scorched black from the blasts.
"Cough, cough, cough..."
Voldemort couldn't help but cough twice, but before he could say anything harsh, Kain spoke.
"Don't relax, Tom. The explosive spells in the second round are ten times more powerful than the first."
Upon hearing this, Voldemort looked up at the sky and suddenly noticed that the sky above him was densely packed with red curses—countless as stars.
Voldemort's pupils dilated, and he quickly cast the Iron Armor Curse and the Countering Curse to block this round of explosive curses.
From a distance, Dumbledore stood beside Harry, his expression serious. He used the Iron Armor Charm to protect both of them.
In the next second, hundreds of blasting spells rained down like a storm, detonating with the force of intercontinental missiles and setting off fireworks that reached tens of meters high.
The powerful impact was like a hurricane passing through, lifting an entire layer of soil, while tombstones and stone statues were shattered by the force of the explosions.
It took about a minute for the explosions to subside, but the surrounding area remained shrouded in smoke and fireworks. Dumbledore slowly got to his feet, using his wand to disperse the smoke around him. However, it was difficult to clear it all at once.
Harry Potter, his heart racing, sat there gasping for breath. First, Voldemort was resurrected, then came the terrifying explosion. He felt as though all the dangers of his life had been condensed into this one day.
Not long after, the smoke was blown away by a gust of wind, and the surrounding environment cleared. Dumbledore and Harry saw Kain walking toward them, holding a scorched and severely injured man in his hand.
The only thing recognizable was the half of the wand in the man's grip—most likely Voldemort's.
"It's resolved. The next step is to communicate with Azkaban, Professor Dumbledore. Fudge should step down."
Dumbledore adjusted his glasses, took a closer look at the battered Tom Riddle, and nodded. "I see. I'll go back and visit some old friends next."
For the first time, he felt that the Explosive Curse was more devastating than Avada Kedavra—like a curse that had swallowed up everything.
Kain tossed Harry a camera and said, "Harry, do me a favor and take a picture of what's going on."
"What? Willing to serve you, Professor."
After coming to his senses, Harry immediately grabbed the camera, stood up, and spoke excitedly. Voldemort, who had been a nightmare for the wizarding world, was going to be taken care of so easily today—he never dared to dream it could happen so simply.
"Take a picture of what's next."
After Kain finished speaking, he used the Transfiguration spell on Tom, turning him into a black, skinny cat. He then took out a cage he had prepared in advance and tossed Tom into it.
But after turning Tom into a cat, Kain remembered the black cat that often came to him. Thinking back on it, there had been too many strange things about that cat. Could it be Annimagus?
"Cool, Professor, it's already taken. Do you need more pictures?"
Harry asked excitedly, even touching his wand, eager to show the black cat in the cage a Tala Terra dance, or perhaps use cat toys, catnip, and other things to try out on Voldemort.
"That's enough. Professor Dumbledore, this is a unique alchemy item. If you don't use a key to open it, the explosive power will be a little less than before."
After Kain finished speaking, he handed Dumbledore a special key, one that should be kept by him. With it, Dumbledore could live for at least ten years without being attacked by black magic.
"Thank you, Professor pent. The wizarding world should thank you."
Dumbledore sincerely expressed his gratitude. Without Kain Pent, it seemed no one would have been able to deal with Voldemort, who had several Horcruxes. He, too, would have been at risk of being assassinated by Voldemort's Horcruxes.
"Let's go back. This kind of thing should be shared with everyone—Voldemort, or rather, Tom the cat, was defeated again."
Dumbledore smiled easily, his mind now at ease. He and Harry put their hands on Kain's shoulders and, in the next second, Apparated back to Hogwarts.
