Chapter 214: C148(1)
"The income this time is truly massive."
After returning to the Marvel world, the smile on Kain's face never faded. There was so much to be gained from the magical world. If he could unify it, the benefits would be unimaginable.
Once he consolidated the wizarding world, he planned to establish considerable influence in the Muggle world.
By reducing the goblins' living space and creating a structured work system for magical creatures as a token of gratitude to wizards, Kain could further strengthen his hold.
For creatures like goblins, mere survival should be considered a privilege, one for which they ought to thank him.
Centaurs, werewolves, titans—Kain found it baffling that wizards placed such high importance on non-human species.
Even if they lacked the strength to eradicate them during the Wizarding War, they could have gradually subdued them afterward.
As Kain's power grew, he certainly wouldn't grant such elevated status to intelligent magical creatures like goblins and centaurs.
Their fate would be marginally better than that of dragons: they'd retain some living space, but only if they worked diligently.
"While hating wizards, they enjoy the space wizards leave behind, and goblins still manage to hold such high status?" Kain scoffed. "I wouldn't mind such a sweet deal myself."
Exploitation and plundering were, after all, the fastest routes to accumulating wealth. At this rate, Kain would only need to take a breath, and a flood of Galleons and magical resources would flow into his pockets.
His resentment toward goblins stemmed from a previous encounter when purchasing magical materials before leaving.
Items like adamantium and mithril had cost him three tons of gold and nearly 200,000 Galleons—a transaction that still irritated him.
Kain, the master of exploitation, had found himself exploited by goblins. That humiliation lingered.
"The next step," he mused, "is to remodel my residence and prepare some alchemical items. Chakra metal might work, though there's only one left. If only I could get my hands on some vibranium."
Kain's current goal was to gather rare materials and refine even more powerful alchemical artifacts.
In the Marvel world, there were only a few precious metals of note. Uru was nearly impossible to obtain, and while titanium alloys were valuable to the average person, Kain could easily acquire tens of kilograms.
To him, they held little value.
Vibranium, however, was a different story. Its value far exceeded titanium alloy, but it was incredibly rare.
Wakanda's protection of vibranium made acquiring it extremely difficult. The small amounts that circulated outside were both scarce and exorbitantly priced.
"Perhaps I could leak Wakanda's existence to Hydra," Kain considered. "Let them test the waters. Or better yet, let every nation on Earth turn their attention to Wakanda."
The idea intrigued him, but he knew it wasn't the right time. His current influence wasn't strong enough. If the United States were to take on Wakanda and succeed, Kain doubted he'd gain much from the fallout.
"I need to accelerate my expansion. Within three to five years, Umbrella and Pent Group must become forces capable of influencing U.S. decision-making."
Now that the Pent Group has fully absorbed the Osborn Group, its expansion is picking up speed. It won't be long before the biopharmaceutical and new energy sectors fall under the Pent Group's control.
Meanwhile, Umbrella operates as Kain's public armed organization, having grown to over 600 members.
Since Kain had a relationship with Betty, she had taken a vested interest in Umbrella's affairs. General Ross, due to his daughter's involvement and his collaboration with Kain, introduced a steady stream of veterans to Umbrella.
A temporary team was even formed to assist Betty in her oversight.
Umbrella didn't limit its recruitment to military veterans. It also brought in mercenaries from Mexico, Asia, and Europe, taking advantage of regions with higher numbers of experienced individuals.
Compared to most organizations, Umbrella offered much better financial incentives.
For Kain, the current U.S. dollar held little value. If he couldn't leverage it to enhance his power, then it was no better than a pile of waste paper.
Later, Kain used a Shadow Clone to monitor the villa's recent developments while he picked up his phone to call Betty.
"Betty, are you busy? Can you help me schedule a meeting with Senator Stern? If he's free soon, I'd like to invite him to dinner."
Meanwhile, Anton Vanko was introducing a new project to Kain.
"Boss, this is the Ark Reactor Energy Battlesuit we designed. It's powered by the Third-Generation Ark Reactor and can output six gigajoules of energy per second. I've extended the battery life—using only the pulse cannon for bombardment, it can last over 24 hours."
The suit, designed by Anton and his son Ivan, incorporated advanced new energy technology.
While the weapon systems weren't fully developed, the suit boasted high-altitude flight capabilities and simple but effective energy-based weapons.
"It can reach a flying speed of over 2,400 kilometers per hour, which is nearly the top speed of an F-22," Anton continued. "We tested this data in the U.S., though it was nearly detected by military satellites."
Kain, however, was dissatisfied.
'I don't like suits like Iron Man's,' Kain said inwardly, shaking his head. 'The remote-controlled war machines designed by Ivan in Iron Man 2 were far better. This battlesuit requires too much manual operation. If someone has to wear it, then they also need assistance in operating the suit. That defeats the purpose.'
He added, "It would be more efficient to focus on developing remote-controlled war machines powered by new energy. Replace all the human-carrying systems with additional munitions and weapons."
Ivan Vanko, who had been standing nearby, nodded in agreement. That idea aligned with his vision as well. However, he interjected to address a critical issue.
"But boss, relying entirely on remote control carries significant risks," Ivan explained. "If the operational authority is compromised, we'd lose complete control of the new energy battle suits—or war machines—in one fell swoop.
"There are too many vulnerabilities: network hackers, or even physical breaches by enemies. On the other hand, if it's a piloted suit, even if the control system is hacked, the driver can manually sever the remote connection and take over. That makes it much safer."
Ivan elaborated further, "Tony Stark uses advanced AI for his company. That AI functions like a top-tier hacker, capable of bypassing most systems. Unless we create an entirely independent network, remote control would be too dangerous."
"What you said makes sense. Let's develop new energy battle suits and new energy war machine guards simultaneously. However, these won't be ready for several years. In the meantime, don't neglect the development of civilian new energy technologies. After all, our goal is to profit while advancing weapons development. Leave this to Ivan."
Kain then added, "The Pent Group's weapons division is also a top priority. Not only must it fulfill military orders, but Umbrella's weapons and equipment should also be replaced with those produced by the Pent Group."
