Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Spark of Class 1-B

Chapter 3: The Spark of Class 1-B

Itsuka Kendo walked through the wide, sunlit hallways of U.A. High School, her bright smile as warm as the soft light filtering in through the windows. Her coppery-orange hair was tied into its usual twin buns, neat and purposeful, just like her demeanor. Beside her, Riko Yanagi floated with a quiet elegance, her silver hair cascading down her back like a shimmering waterfall, framing her pale, serene face. To Kendo's other side walked Yui Kodai, her jet-black hair sleek and straight, complementing her calm, measured aura. Her dark eyes flickered with an understated curiosity, always observing but rarely speaking.

The three girls strolled together, their school uniforms crisp and tidy, their conversation lighthearted. Kendo's cheerful voice carried through the corridor as she showed off the adorable accessory dangling from her phone—a small, charming figurine that had captivated her companions.

"It's cute, right?" Kendo said, her emerald eyes sparkling.

Yanagi's soft voice responded, "It suits you. Simple but... charming."

Kodai nodded slightly, her lips curling into a faint smile.

Their laughter and easy chatter carried them to the entrance of their classroom. But as the door slid open, the air changed. The trio froze, their smiles vanishing as if swept away by a sudden gust.

The sight before them was almost surreal. Neito Monoma sat at his desk, the center of a scene that felt both comedic and unnerving. His posture was relaxed, his head tilted slightly as though he were some villain in a melodrama. Around him, the students of Class 1-B stood in a loose circle, their faces a mixture of dread and resignation. It was as if Monoma's presence had rooted them there, his words a chain they could not break free from.

"What's going on?" Kendo whispered, her brows furrowing.

Before anyone could answer, Pony Tsunotori stumbled toward her. The blonde girl, her horns bobbing slightly with each unsteady step, looked utterly drained. She placed trembling hands on Kendo's shoulders, her blue eyes wide and pleading.

"Help us," she whispered, her voice quivering. "Monoma's gone out of control!"

Kendo's expression shifted to one of calm determination. Her green eyes, steady and focused, darted toward Monoma. "Monoma?" she said, her voice carrying an edge of authority.

At the sound of her voice, Monoma's head snapped up. His lips curled into a slow, unsettling smile. His pale blue eyes were bloodshot, underscored by dark circles that hinted at a sleepless night. His golden hair, usually neatly combed, was a disheveled mess. On the desk before him lay a meticulously drawn diagram, filled with detailed notes and strategic arrows. Across the top, bold letters read: The Path to Crushing Class 1-A in the Sports Festival.

"Kendo, Yanagi, Kodai," Monoma drawled, his voice dripping with theatrical exasperation. "You're late. Didn't you see the message I sent to the group chat this morning?"

Kendo blinked, pulling her phone from her pocket. "He's right," she muttered. "He left a message… wait, this was two hours ago?!"

Turning back to the class, she looked at her peers with disbelief. "Don't tell me you all came early just because of his message!"

The students exchanged sheepish glances, their faces betraying exhaustion. Some looked as though they were on the verge of tears.

Kendo sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Seriously, Monoma, what's gotten into you this time?"

Before Monoma could respond, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu leaned forward, his muscular arms resting on Monoma's desk. His steel-gray eyes gleamed with amusement. "Honestly? I don't mind waking up early," he said with a hearty laugh. "Monoma's determination is inspiring. He's not just thinking about himself—he wants all of us to shine in the festival. That's real manly, don't you think?"

Kendo sighed again, her frustration giving way to a trace of fondness. She approached Monoma, who looked up at her with a mix of pride and delirium.

"Kendo," he began, gesturing to his detailed plan, "I've outlined the perfect roles for everyone, and I have a special part for you—"

Before he could finish, Kendo's hand transformed. Her fist, now slightly larger but still controlled, came down in a swift, precise motion, striking Monoma's neck. His blue eyes widened in shock, the world around him blurring as his head hit the desk with a soft thud.

The room fell silent as Kendo's hand returned to its normal size. She placed it gently on Monoma's messy blond hair, leaning in close so only he could hear. Her lips curved into a small, genuine smile as she whispered, "Sorry for making you carry the weight of the class alone. I'm the class representative in name, but you're the one who truly leads us."

Straightening, she turned to the rest of the class. "Sorry for the trouble he caused you all," she said, her tone apologetic yet firm.

To her surprise, Kosei Tsuburaba grinned. "What are you talking about, Kendo?" he said, his brown hair slightly tousled.

Ibara Shiozaki, her lush green hair framing her angelic face, added, "We're the ones causing him trouble. Staying up all night for our sake… Monoma truly gives his all for us."

Tetsutetsu clenched his fist, which gleamed as it turned to steel. "If that's the case, we can't let Monoma fight alone! We'll show Class 1-A what Class 1-B is made of!"

A wave of energy swept through the room. One by one, the students raised their hands, shouting their agreement.

Kendo's eyes widened in surprise at the enthusiasm before softening. Her gaze fell on Monoma, who had slipped into a deep, peaceful sleep.

"Monoma," she thought, a small smile playing on her lips, "you have no idea how much you mean to this class. You're our guiding star, and we'll follow your lead, no matter what."

As the noise of the class rose around her, Kendo stood tall, her resolve strengthening. The Sports Festival would be their stage, and together, they would shine.
