MHA; Its me, Monoma!

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Sports Festival

Chapter 4: The Sports Festival

Monoma lay on his back, staring blankly at the ceiling of his dimly lit room. The faint hum of the UA dormitory was the only sound accompanying his thoughts. His plan was set, meticulously crafted over sleepless nights. Every student in Class 1-B knew their roles, and the past week had been spent refining their quirks, pushing their limits. Victory was not just a goal—it was a necessity.

He raised his hand slowly, studying his open palm as if searching for an answer. "In the end," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, "I have no power. Just a useless vessel surrounded by extraordinary talents." He paused, a bitter smile forming on his lips. "In a world overflowing with heroes, people only care about quirks. All Might, physical enhancement. Endeavor, fire manipulation. The list goes on."

His sharp blue eyes shifted toward the window, catching glimpses of the starlit sky. "Someone like me," he continued, his tone cold, "is nothing more than a container. No quirk to refine. Just a secondary character in this grand tale."

But then, a spark of determination flared in his gaze. His lips pressed into a firm line as he clenched his hand into a fist. "However," he declared, his voice cutting through the silence, "I have comrades who deserve the spotlight more than the overhyped Class 1-A. That's why, tomorrow, I'll lead my classmates to a collective victory over those arrogant fools!"

---

The night gave way to the first rays of dawn, and the energy in the UA campus was palpable. The grand arena shook with excitement as Present Mic's voice boomed through the speakers. "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us on this fine morning! Welcome, one and all, to the UA Sports Festival!"

The crowd erupted into cheers, their enthusiasm filling the air like electricity. People from every corner of Japan tuned in to witness the spectacle. In bustling train stations, commuters gathered around screens. In classrooms, students huddled in anticipation. Even in busy streets, pedestrians paused to catch glimpses of the broadcast on store displays.

On the UA campus, vendors lined the walkways, selling everything from memorabilia to snacks. It wasn't just a competition—it was a celebration. Among the crowd, heroes patrolled discreetly, ensuring the safety of everyone present. Mount Lady strolled through the festival grounds, her blonde hair cascading down her back and her striking red eyes scanning the lively scene. Flanked by two other pro heroes, she appeared to be on patrol, but her cheerful demeanor suggested she was enjoying the festival more than fulfilling her duty.

---

In the preparation room for Class 1-B, Monoma's sharp gaze swept over his classmates. They wore the standard UA athletic uniforms, the same as Class 1-A, but the atmosphere in the room was far from uniform. Nervous glances were exchanged, and beads of sweat dotted foreheads. The muffled roar of the crowd outside only heightened the tension.

Sitting calmly amidst the unease was Itsuka Kendo, her auburn hair tied back in its signature style. Her expression remained serene as she remarked, "Looks like it's finally about to begin."

Monoma's eyes darted around the room, taking in the apprehensive faces of his classmates. While UA's standard curriculum had pushed them to hone their quirks, none of them had experienced an event of this magnitude. The pressure was tangible, threatening to overwhelm even the most talented among them.

Understanding the weight of the moment, Monoma clapped his hands together, the sharp sound drawing all attention to him. His confident smirk returned as he declared, "What's with those faces? They don't suit the heroes of Class 1-B!"

A ripple of surprise spread through the room before Kendo's lips curved into a small smile. She leaned back against her seat, silently acknowledging Monoma's efforts to rally the team.

Monoma took a step forward, his voice rising with each word. "You're all stars, and it's time to shine! I trust my comrades more than anything else in this world." He extended his hand toward them, his tone brimming with conviction. "Together, we'll crush Class 1-A and claim victory in this festival. I'll make sure of it!"

One by one, his classmates rose to their feet, their earlier doubts replaced with determination. Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu grinned broadly, his steel-clad fists clenching in excitement. Ibara Shiozaki nodded solemnly, her vine-like hair swaying slightly. Kendo joined in, her calm demeanor never faltering. They placed their hands atop Monoma's, creating a unified stack of solidarity.

"Class 1-B!" they shouted in unison. "Plus Ultra!"

The room erupted in laughter and cheers as the students stepped out into the corridor, their spirits lifted. The last two to remain were Monoma and Kendo. She placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder as she walked past, her voice soft yet firm. "Stop thinking of yourself as a star without light. To me, you're the one who shines the brightest in this class."

Monoma froze, her green eyes locking with his blue ones. The weight of her words struck deep, and for a moment, he couldn't respond. Then, with a faint smile tinged with self-awareness, he said, "My quirk doesn't allow me to shine. A copycat has no color of their own. All I can do is support my team, both with words and actions."

Kendo paused by the door, her silhouette framed by the light spilling in. "Is that what you believe?" she asked, her tone playful yet resolute. "To me, you're someone who can shine in any color they choose."

Her words left him stunned, his thoughts swirling. His blonde hair shifted slightly as he lowered his gaze, his lips curling into a smile of newfound confidence. "You're right," he whispered, taking a decisive step forward. The sound of his sneaker hitting the floor echoed in the room. "I'll use my classmates' quirks to soar high. I'll be the vessel of Class 1-B!"

With that, Monoma walked toward the door, his head held high and his heart burning with resolve.
