MHA: Mewtwo

Chapter 12: XII: Standardization

The next fight unfolded much like the previous two, though each group showcased different strengths and weaknesses. Raiden looked a little frustrated due to him not having technically lost, but he understood that if his team was over, it didn't make much sense to continue the fight.

Mirio and Tamaki attempted to engage in close combat, only to be swiftly outmatched by Snipe's superior experience. Against Mirio, Snipe cleverly exploited his quirk's limitations. He understood that Mirio couldn't breathe while phasing, so Snipe positioned his attacks precisely where Mirio's lungs would be. When Mirio inevitably had to release his quirk to breathe, Snipe was already in a position to strike, knocking him out of the fight with calculated precision, what Snipe was doing was testing the boy's limits and adaptability.

Next came Tamaki and Taro, who coordinated with string-like constructs—Tamaki's octopus tentacles and Taro's durable silk. Snipe neutralized them effortlessly. Seizing both materials mid-attack, he spun them around like a whirlwind before tossing them out of the arena with surprising force.

Finally, Snipe turned to Yuyu Haya. She unleashed a volley of electric arrows, but unlike Raiden's precise strikes or Hana's adaptive petals, her attacks lacked the ability to redirect mid-flight. Snipe dodged the arrows with ease and closed the gap before she could reposition. Face-to-face, Yuyu tried to counter, but Snipe's mastery of hand-to-hand combat left little room for resistance. A swift hold disarmed her completely.

The three battles lasted only a few minutes. Dusting himself off, Snipe turned to address the students, his voice firm but encouraging.

"Good work, everyone. Each team showed strengths and worth. Naoki brothers, your teamwork was excellent—fluid and coordinated. Very few pros manage such synchronization without stumbling over one another's patterns. But your weakness lies in individual combat; you'll need to develop skills to hold your ground alone."

The brothers nodded in unison, striking a karate pose before shouting, "Osu!"

That's new thought Raiden.

Snipe moved to Raiden's group. "Your greatest strength was strategy—pushing me away and forcing me to fight on your terms. That was smart. Your teamwork also improved as the battle progressed, which shows adaptability. But when I closed the distance and the fight turned physical, you collapsed. We'll work on handling close-quarters combat under pressure, your individual strengths are good, but it can improve, Nejire, you need to work on your movility, Raiden you need to work on your focus and control, you still can't use your powers with fluidity, Rai, you need to trust your quirk more, just let him loose, is more than small vibrations and hana, you should work in your physical aspects."

Finally, he addressed Mirio's group. "You excel in physical confrontation—all of you have more experience with close combat than most. However, you lack control over your quirks. Yuyu, you could've held onto your arrows to keep me guessing. Tamaki, your quirk has better close-range applications you didn't utilize. Taro, your silk could've aided your mobility, but you stayed stationary. And Mirio, you need to retreat before your quirk deactivates to avoid being vulnerable, you can't just keep pushing ahead."

Snipe crossed his arms, nodding thoughtfully. "We'll polish these weaknesses. You're progressing well, but there's still much to learn."

He glanced over the group before continuing, "Now, let's head back to the classroom. We've got more to cover." As they made their way inside, he added, "But first, stop by the lockers and take a quick shower. You'll thank me later."

After about twenty minutes, the students were back in their seats, refreshed and attentive. Snipe stood at the front of the room, his calm but firm demeanor commanding focus. "On your desks, you'll find your schedule for this semester. Take a good look; these classes will define your foundation as heroes."

The papers detailed an intense curriculum comprising eight classes: Martial Arts, Mathematics, History, Rescue Training, Quirk Training, Chemistry, Physics, English and Physical Conditioning. The schedule spanned the week, with classes running from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.

Snipe leaned against his desk and said, "This first month will be the hardest. We're laying the groundwork for everything that follows, and we start now, I will even change the normal curriculum to focus in improve everyone foundation"

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Just as Snipe had warned, the first month proved grueling. U.A.'s physical conditioning regimen was on another level, pushing everyone to their limits. Snipe himself led several classes, including Martial Arts, Physical Conditioning, Quirk Training, and Rescue Training. For each of the eleven students in Class 1-A, he designed individualized programs tailored to their quirks and physical needs.

The training began with weightlifting. Snipe explained, "Regardless of your quirk, anyone can achieve extraordinary physical feats with proper training. Quirks force the human body to adapt and evolve to handle their demands. With the right guidance, you can all develop incredible physical strength and endurance, even if your quirks don't naturally provide it."

He cited Endeavor, the number two hero in Japan, as an example. "His quirk is fire-based, yet he's been seen smashing through concrete walls effortlessly. His body adapted to sustain his quirk's immense power, resulting in superhuman strength and endurance as a side effect. The same principle applies to each of you—you just need to push yourself to unlock that potential." (A/N: yep I invented that)

In this month, Raiden focused heavily on weight training to improve his base strength without relying on his transformation. At first, his progress felt rapid and rewarding. He noticed himself lifting heavier weights and performing with more precision. However, his optimism faltered when Snipe pointed out the reason behind this quick improvement—it was largely his nervous system adapting to the movements, a natural phase in strength training. Snipe reassured him that the initial surge in progress would soon level out, but with consistency, true strength would follow.

Where Raiden truly excelled was in his combat development. he had previous experienc before the ua test after all.

Over the month, Snipe implemented a dual martial arts program tailored specifically for Raiden's unique physiology. The first part focused on traditional MMA, with an emphasis on Muay Thai for its striking techniques and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for its grappling foundation. This provided Raiden with a versatile base in his human form.

For his "combat mode," however, Snipe introduced a specialized style inspired by Shaolin animal forms, designed to complement Raiden's unique build. Drawing from the Snake and Crane styles, Raiden's combat program emphasized fluid, coiled movements, and sharp, precise strikes. The Snake aspect integrated his tail into his offense and defense, turning it into both a weapon and a tool for maintaining balance. Meanwhile, the Crane elements refined his posture, focusing on swift, high kicks and long-range sweeping motions that leveraged his enhanced agility and limb length.

When Raiden combined his telekinesis and psychic abilities with his combat training, it created a good synergy. Not only did it provide him with an arsenal of long-range attacks, but it also allowed him to fight in three dimensions, exploiting angles and tactics most opponents couldn't anticipate. His ability to hover, reposition mid-strike, and redirect objects midair gave him an overwhelming advantage, turning any battleground into his domain, but something still lacked, and he couldn't point what it was.

With practice, Raiden integrated these techniques into his training. By the end of the month, the class began sparring more regularly, their improved control over their quirks allowing for more consistent and intense matches.

The culmination of their hard work led to this moment.

Raiden stood at one end of the training ground, a grin stretched across his face as he stared at Tamaki on the opposite side. The anticipation of their sparring match coursed through him. Today wasn't just another fight; it was a final test, so they could fight against each other all out. Earlier, Snipe had hinted at a reward for the class if they performed well, and Raiden was pretty exited about it.

"Ready, Tamaki?" Raiden called out, his voice brimming with excitement.

Tamaki, true to form, replied hesitantly, "I'm not. Can I surrender?"

Raiden threw his head back in laughter. "Hahaha! No, you can't! We've got to go all out this time. Come on, think about the reward!" His grin widened as his enthusiasm filled the air.

Tamaki sighed deeply, a single tear sliding down his cheek as he resigned himself to the fight. He couldn't help but notice how much Raiden relished anything involving battle, especially when it allowed them to push their quirks to their limits.

Before Tamaki could respond further, Snipe's voice cut through the air. "Begin!"

Immediately, the glowing blue number three on Raiden's arm flared, its light intensifying and spreading across his body in pulsating waves. As he charged forward, his back arched slightly, and a massive purple tail materialized, swaying with latent energy. Ripple-like distortions of psychic power radiated outward, shimmering faintly in the air around him.

His body, now transformed into a creature almost sculpted for combat, combined humanoid features with the sleek, powerful form of a creature built for agility and precision. His elongated limbs moved with fluid grace, his purple tail curling and striking with predatory intent, while his piercing gaze glowed with the same vibrant blue and purple energy coursing through him.

Raiden's charge was explosive, his speed increasing dramatically as he propelled himself forward with telekinetic force. The 50-meter gap between him and Tamaki vanished in under three seconds, his movements blurring with the ripple of psychic energy emanating from his form.

"Lazer focus" muttered Raiden as he ran, his eyes glowed for an instant.

As Raiden closed in, he wasted no time. With a sharp clap of his hands, his Swift ability activated, sending eight glowing stars hurtling toward Tamaki. Reacting instantly, Tamaki transformed his arms into writhing tentacles, each arm splitting into four appendages to intercept the incoming attack. The stars collided with the tentacles in a burst of energy, but Raiden wasn't finished.

Overhead, another eight stars descended from above. Raiden had used the distraction to launch himself skyward, hovering above Tamaki and unleashing another Swift barrage. "Shit," muttered Tamaki, quickly shifting his form again. His body shimmered as parts of it hardened into the dense, iridescent shell of a marine slug, forming an armor to deflect the attack.

"Got you," Raiden declared with a grin, his voice echoing from behind Tamaki. Twisting midair, he spun his body and delivered a powerful strike with his tail, the blow amplified by a surge of telekinetic force. The impact was devastating—nearly fifty percent stronger than a physical strike alone. Tamaki managed to raise his forearm just in time, blocking the hit, but the sheer force sent him skidding backward across the ground, carving a five-meter trail.

Raiden didn't let up. Without hesitation, he darted forward again, pressing his advantage with a relentless flurry of punches, kicks, and tail strikes. Each attack was precise, unrelenting, and infused with psychic energy, forcing Tamaki onto the defensive. But Tamaki wasn't one to stay cornered for long.

With a fierce cry, Tamaki countered by transforming his arm into razor-sharp bird claws, slashing toward Raiden with a sweeping motion. Sensing the danger, Raiden pivoted and leapt back, creating distance. His eyes narrowed as he released a Confusion attack, the psychic waves rippling through the air and shattering the bird claws into fragments. Yet, even as the claws crumbled, Tamaki's determination shone through—his arms morphed again, this time into massive crab-like pincers, their chitinous edges gleaming with formidable strength.

The sparring match had escalated into a showcase of raw power, adaptability, and strategy, with neither side willing to yield an inch.

Raiden found himself constantly adjusting his strategy, aiming for a mid-range approach each time he shattered Tamaki's claws with Confusion. Yet, no matter how many times he broke through, Tamaki seamlessly replaced them with new limbs in the form of claws or tentacles.

The battle had settled into a stalemate, and more of the damage was made to the training ground and not them, slowly the constant strain of their abilities beginning to weigh heavily on both combatants. Each attack demanded energy, and the prolonged exchange was draining them. Frustration simmered beneath Raiden's focused exterior, pushing him to reconsider his approach.

Deciding to close the distance once more, Raiden reasoned that Tamaki's tentacles would be less effective in close quarters, where his lack of control became apparent.

As he closed in, Tamaki adapted again, transforming his arms into dense crab shell armor. Raiden's psychic reserves were quicly fading—he used consfusion too much, ten Confusions had taken their toll, leaving him wary of overexertion.

Meanwhile, disabling Tamaki's Quirk posed a unique challenge. Unlike emission-type abilities, Tamaki's transformations required Raiden to catch him in a brief moment of inactivity—a vulnerability Tamaki cleverly avoided by maintaining some part of his body transformed at all times, even before the battle began, also even if he could disable one aspect of his Quirk, Tamaki could simply turn into another animal and attack differently.

Fatigue etched itself into their movements, yet neither backed down. They transitioned into close combat, exchanging blows with growing intensity. Frustration built with every strike, and Raiden instinctively began channeling more psychic power into his arms. The energy that once coursed evenly through his body was now concentrated, redirected from his tail and back into his fists. His muscles tightened, straining as he pushed himself to his physical and psychic limits.

As he fought, something within him shifted—a sensation, subtle at first, as if a long-forgotten puzzle piece had clicked into place. His focus narrowed, and the energy in his fists felt different, heavier, yet more controlled. It wasn't just psychic power; it was the culmination of his training, the raw strength he had painstakingly developed over the past month.

Raiden's next move came almost instinctively. He surged forward, his fist aimed straight at Tamaki's forearm. Half a meter from impact, he muttered and foced his psychic powers to comply under his breath.

 "Mega Punch."

The instant his fist connected, an explosive force reverberated through the air. Tamaki was hurled backward, his body flying dozens of meters before skidding to a stop.

Raiden froze, staring at his trembling fist in disbelief. The impact had been monumental, unlike anything he'd ever achieved before. Something had truly changed—a door had opened to entirely new possibilities.

Also, Raiden noticed something, even transformed, his forearm glowed for a couple of instants, and the number three was now a four.

The First Chapter of the Year

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy it. I've decided to make a few changes to the U.A. curriculum. As was mentioned at the beginning of the original series, each teacher decided how to conduct their classes. I wanted Snipe to be different from Eraserhead, focusing on different aspects.

This means the events will unfold in a different order. Not everything will change, but I aim to avoid simply copying the canon events at U.A. school, I hope the result is good.

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
