Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Night Mission

Chapter 10: The Night Mission

The night sky stretched above, a canvas adorned with countless stars shimmering like scattered diamonds. A pale crescent moon hung low, its light casting a silvery glow upon the city below. A few wisps of clouds floated lazily, veiling portions of the heavens, while the air carried a cool stillness that seemed to magnify the distant hum of the city. The soft glow of streetlights illuminated the streets of Musutafu, their golden beams forming an intricate web of light amidst the darkness.

On the edge of a towering skyscraper, Trafalgar Law stood motionless. His yellow T-shirt, adorned with black spots, fluttered slightly in the gentle breeze. A pair of blue jeans hugged his lean frame, while his trademark white-and-black patterned hat rested firmly on his head. At his side, his sheathed sword hung from his waist, its presence as much a part of him as his steady gaze. Law's gray eyes scanned the city below, their depth reflecting both calculation and a faint trace of boredom.

The faint buzz of a phone vibrated in his pocket, breaking the silence. With a smooth motion, he pulled it out, glancing at the name on the screen. "Eraser Head," the display read. Answering the call, his voice was calm and measured.

"Did you find them?"

On the other end, Shouta Aizawa leaned against the cold brick wall of a narrow alley. His sharp black eyes remained fixed on the group of men unloading suspicious crates from a black van into a decrepit house. His long, unruly hair framed his tired face, the loose gray scarf around his neck shifting slightly as he moved. He spoke in his usual monotone.

"Yes, but I can't get any closer without being noticed."

"Is there a solution?" Law asked, his tone betraying a faint hint of amusement.

Aizawa's eyes narrowed as he watched the scene before him. "Of course. If you use your ability, most likely."

Law smirked faintly. "I'll be down in a moment," he said, ending the call.

He slipped the phone back into his pocket and tilted his head upward, gazing at the stars. For a brief moment, his gray eyes softened, reflecting the quiet brilliance above. With a deep breath, he adjusted his hat to ensure it wouldn't fall, then stepped off the edge of the building.

As he plummeted toward the alley below, the voice of the system echoed in his mind, its tone laced with mockery.

"You really enjoy these death leaps, don't you?"

A grin tugged at Law's lips as he replied, "Yo! It's been a while. Where've you been?"

The system retorted with playful sarcasm. "Miss me? I didn't expect you to be lonely enough to start a romantic relationship with a system."

Law's gaze sharpened as he focused on the rapidly approaching ground. A single misstep, a stray brush against a window or an outcropping, could end his life in an instant. The tension only fueled his concentration.

"You know," the system continued, "I never thought Eraser Head would treat you like this. Seems like you're his favorite pupil."

Law scoffed softly. "What kind of system can't even predict story events properly?"

The system's voice turned defensive. "Everything that happens in this story deviates from the original path because of the player's actions. I take no responsibility for the changes you've caused. Those are on you."

Law extended a hand as he neared the ground, his fingers curling. "Room!" he called out, his voice calm but commanding. A faint blue aura enveloped the area as he activated his ability.

"Annoying for me too," he muttered. "I'll try to follow the original path so I don't end up in unfamiliar arcs."

"Unfortunately, that's impossible," the system replied just before its voice faded. "This world changed the moment you set foot in it…"

Landing softly in the alley, Law's sharp eyes immediately caught sight of Aizawa crouched behind a pile of garbage bags in the shadows. Blue energy from his Room flickered briefly as Law shifted his fingers and whispered, "Shambles!"

In an instant, Law appeared behind Aizawa, who stiffened slightly before turning his head. His sharp black eyes narrowed.

"Idiot," Aizawa muttered, clearly unimpressed.

Behind them, a metal garbage can crashed to the ground, scattering trash across the alley. The clattering noise echoed loudly, and Law noticed the group of men unloading the van snap their heads toward the disturbance, their eyes narrowing.

The men exchanged glances, their silent communication a clear indication of their training and discipline.

Aizawa sighed, his tone dropping to a hushed whisper. "You should've used something smaller to switch places."

Law replied with a cool, detached voice. "Hard to think straight under pressure. Don't forget, I was only five meters from the ground. You expect someone with their life on the line to worry about minor details?"

Aizawa's eyes glowed a fierce crimson as he activated his quirk. "No matter. It's too late now. We're going in."

Law blinked in surprise, caught off guard by the abrupt shift. He had expected a stealth mission, not a direct confrontation.

In the distance, the men unloading the van set the crates down and pulled sleek black submachine guns from the vehicle. One of them, a broad-shouldered figure, sprinted to the house and rang the doorbell seven times—a clear signal.

Inside the house, the ringing sent a ripple of tension through the occupants. Faces hardened with grim determination as they realized trouble was imminent. Weapons were distributed hastily, the air thick with unease and silent understanding.
