My Last Breath: A Dying Man's Love And Wish

Chapter 3: § Mi Casa, Su Casa §

Evee walked to me and her eyes shifted between the car's interior and me. She was about to take a few steps back for a better look at the car, but I halted her intentions.

"I don't think it's very polite to be comparing your potential helper to his car. Or are you perhaps trying to take a closer look incase I may harm you?" I just couldn't resist the urge to tease this girl.

I have always been someone filled with humor. And most times when I'm around strangers I don't show it. Evee's innocence was just something I felt the urge to test.

Evee looked down speechless and walked in. I shut the door for her and walked in the other side. We left the party venue earlier than most people. I doubt any people really saw us.

I for one couldn't even focus on the countdown to my death. My insignificant little boring life was at its end.

While i was thinking about how i have detached myself from life, a thought flashed in my mind. I seriously had to begin living my life to the fullest this time. I don't know why, but this was a real necessity. Or.... should I try finding a way to speed up the spread of my illness? I really would hate to suffer from something so--.

"Ummm... can I just send my address to my sister so that she can get me from your place tomorrow? I would hate to---"

"Yes you can." I cut Evee off with a response as I stretched my hand out to her, gesturing for the phone.

She handed it over silently and I typed in my address. Even though I had the urge to drive to a hotel on the way, I still went to my house. I am confident enough in my capabilities, so even if she was some sort of criminal that was going to scam me, she was going to fail miserably.

Getting to the my house, I stopped by the gate. You could call this a moment of reflection and assurance. I wanted to be sure I wanted to take this girl into my home.

The brickwall with an electric wire and a remote controlled remote looked like an any average security a normal guy can have... right?

Anyway, I took out the remote and opened the gate. I drove in and stopped by the pavement leading to the door. I always left this car out of the garage so I won't waste time when I leave.

We remained silent for a moment as I just looked out the windscreen. While my mind was running a marathon, she was calmly peeking in all directions, trying to see the surrounding well.

I finally decided to just let the night pass, so I walked out and opened the door for her. God k own I hate to pretend to be a gentleman, but damn..... I seem to be out of character now. Oh well, who cares?

"Come. The entrance is this way." I said, beckoning to the girl whose gaze was captured by the fountain infant of the house.

But she was frozen in place even more when she noticed the size of my house.

"Do you live with your family..?" Evee asked in a fading voice.

"In a sense I am." I said bluntly. She moved closer and was about to ask but I continued. "I am my own family. This entire house is my own cave. Are you getting scared?"

Evee gaped with her mouth dropping open. It was really not normal to find a double storey in this city. Especially for someone who was to stay alone.

I don't like to brag much. But if there is one thing I have to admit, it's that I am filthy rich. I had a lot of money from my former 'job', if I can call it that. And I was born in a loaded family. But then, that's a topic for another day.

I opened the door and snapped my fingers. The lights lit up the house in a dim light.

"Ladies first." I said, gesturing for Evee to go in.

Evee walked in cautiously and stood by the couches before sending her gaze around the room. That was an I stick every person had, but I still found it interesting she would do that.

I walked in after her and on the side of the door, I increased the brightness of the room.

On the right was a staircase leading to the top floor and other others side, a way to the kitchen. Otherwise this room was like any normal sitting room. Besides the expensive furniture and everything else.

"There is an empty room on your left up the stairs. Sorry I can't offer you anything to eat. If you need anything to eat, help yourself to the fruits in the refrigerator. Anything else?" I showed her directions to things I thought she might need.

She didn't respond but just nodded.

"Thank you for helping me. I may cause you trouble, but I really appreciate it." Evee said in her sweet voice.

She headed up the stairs but halted halfway. I could already sense demanding something even before she spoke.

This was going to be my night of silence as I wallow in despair. But I just had to be a good summaritan.

"Can I use your bathroom? I had a little too much juice beverages earlier." She said in an embarrassed tone.

Somehow her behavior reminded me of a child. One that was always on a mission to annoy someone.

"There are two bathrooms. One right below your room. And the other is located on the farthest side opposite the room you're going to sleep in." I guided her as I walked to the couch and laid with my gaze to the ceiling.

Evee walked up in a tiptoe movement. Until I heard her door open and close, I kept my eyes open and and focused my hearing.

Soon after, I closed my eyes and let my mind drift into the unknown abyss.
