Chapter 4: This is Reality
"Ten...Nine...Eight.."
Alex struggled beneath her, his face twisted in. No matter how much he tried, he just can't seem to break free.
"Three....Two....One..."
The cheers was loud as the final count reached. Lily released Alex and stood dusting herself off. Her expression was calm, but her expression radiated quiet contentment.
Alex remained on the ground, breathing heavily has he tried to process what had just happened. He sat up slowly, his jaw clenched in frustration as he looked up at Lily.
The crowd erupted in cheers, their voices echoing across the field.
"She won!"
"She's incredible!"
"Alex finally met his match!"
Lily extend a hand to Alex, "Looks like you were wrong about me."
Alex glared at her, refusing her hand as he got to his feet on his own. Despite his wounded pride, he had to honor her deal. The crowd fell silent as Alex dropped on his knees, his face flush with humiliation.
"I am sorry" Alex said, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear. "I apologize for underestimating you, Lily."
Lily crossed her arms, her smile widening . "Apology accepted."
With that she turned and walked away, the crowd parted to let her through. Alex watched her go, his fists clenched at his sides.
As much as he hate to admit it, she had win, and she had proven herself to be more than just a sharp tongue.
But in the back of his mind, this isn't over.
After the intense fight on the field, Alex made his way back to his dorm, his mind was full of frustration.
The humiliation of being defeated by a freshman, a girl to be precise, burned deeply in his chest. His jaw ached from her elbow strike.
He slammed the door open, his movement sharp and angry as he stepped inside.
Martin was sitting on the edge of the bed, casually flipping through a magazine. But the moment he saw Alex, he dropped it and leaned back.
"Back already?" Martin said in a sarcasm voice. "How does it feel big guy?"
Ales shot him a cold glare. "Don't start, Martin."
Martin stood crossing his arms as he stared at Alex. "Didn't I warn you not to interfere in this? I told you that girl wasn't someone to mess with."
Alex moving towards his bed without responding. He grabbed a towel and change of clothes, but before he could make it to the bathroom, Martins word stopped him.
"You just made things worse for all of us," Martin said, his tone sharper now. "That little bitch didn't just take you down, she disgraced us all."
Alex turned slowly, "Watch your mouth Martin."
Martin remained unfazed. He stepped closer, "What's the matter, can't handle the truth? You were taken down by a girl, Alex. A girl. You're supposed to be the leader of this school, but instead, you are a joke.
Alex fist tightened in frustration. "I don't need a lecture from you."
Martin laughed bitterly. "A lecture? No. This is reality. You are a disgrace. You thought you could handle lily, but she is playing this game better than any of us."
Martin words hit Alex hard, but he refused to let it show. Instead he threw his towel on his bed and took a sit.
"If you are so smart, why didn't you handle her yourself?" Alex snapped. "Oh, that's right...You're too scared."
Martin confidence grin slipped, but he recovered quickly. "At least I know when to back off, but not you. And now look at you humiliated in front of the entire school."
The room fell silent, the tension thick. Alex shoulder rise and fell as he took a deep breath forcing himself to calm down. He turned, grabbing his towel again and heading toward the bathroom.
"This isn't over," Alex grumbled softly as he opened the door.
Martin leaned back against the bed, shaking his head. "You're right...it's not. But if you keep going after her, it'll only get worse."
Alex didn't respond. He closed the bathroom door behind him and leaned against the sink, staring at his own reflection in the mirror. His jaw was slightly swollen, a bruise forming on the side of his face.
He splashed cold water on his skin, his thought racing. Martin words stung.
She think she's won. She think she's untouchable, but she's not.
Alex dried his body and walked back into the room.
Martin watched him silently, his expression wary. He could see the determination in Alex eyes and for the first time, he wondered if things were about to go out of control.
