Chapter 3: A Duel
The afternoon sun cast a warm glow over Williams University campus as lily sat beneath a tree. She was captivated by her book, while listening to music.
Her expression shifted the moment she noticed Alex Williams, walking towards her. His confident step and sharp gaze betrayed at the emotions beneath his calm face.
Lily placed her book on her lap, her eyes meeting his with a mixture of amusement. "Alex." she greeted, tilting her head. "To what do I owe this surprise visit?"
Alex smirked, "Don't flatter yourself, I'm not here to chat with you. I'm here to make a deal."
Lily raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a teasing smile. "Interesting. A deal? What is it this time? Are you going to beg me with money to release your friends or what?"
Alex smirk, his eyes flashed with irritation at her taunt. "It's simple, you can't just boss my friends around like that. So, how about we have a duel?"
Lily was intrigued, "A duel?" she said, sitting up straight.
"If I win, Alex said, his voice firm, "You will stop ordering my friends around and treat them like normal people. But if you win, I'll give yo the respect you think you you deserve and back down. Deal?"
Lily chuckled leaning her back against the tree. "Hmm, interesting. A challenge from the devil, Alex Williams himself. But....can I add a condition?"
Alex crossed his arms. "What condition?"
Lily's smile turned cold. "If I win, not only will you back down , but you'll apologize to me in public. On your knees."
Alex jaw tightened , for a moment, he said nothing. But he wasn't one to back down. No matter how humiliating the stakes.
"Fine," Alex said after a long pauses "That's a deal".
Lily extended her hand with confidence ."Then it is settled. Two day from now, at the field outside the school."
Alex ignored her hand, "I hope you're ready."
Lily hand was hanging awkwardly in the air, she quickly withdraw her hand. "I am always ready" she replied, picking up her book and left.
The news of their duel was all over the school. As the day arrive, a large crowd gathered around the field, the field was a little bit far to the school. They were eager to watch the devil and lucifer.
Lily stood with her arms crossed, her expression was calm. She wore a black tracksuit and trainers, her hair tied back into ponytail. She was unfazed by attention.
Alex arrived moments later, dressed in a gray athletic outfit. He smirk as he approach Lily
"Ready for the match?" he taunted, his tone filled with challenge.
Lily smirked back. "Funny, I was about to ask you the same thing."
The two stand at the center of the field. A senior student named Jake was their referee, he stood between them, explaining the rules.
"Clean fight," Jake said, "No dirty moves, first one to get pinned down for ten seconds loses. Got it?"
They both nodded, their eyes locked on each other.
Jake raised his hand. Ready....set....fight."
The field was filled with tension and excitement, the crowd roaring as Lily and Alex exchanged blows.
Their movements were sharp, calculated and relentless, they refuse to give an inch. They were sweating as the fight dragged on.
"This is insane!" One student whispered.
"I've never seen anyone stood up to Alex like this" Another muttered
Lily dodged Alex punch with an elegant twist, her black ponytail whipping behind her. Her movement was quick, but Alex strength gave him an undeniable edge.
"You are tougher that I thought" Alex admitted as he threw another punch.
"And you are weaker than I expected," Lily said blocking his strike with her forearm.
But Alex wasn't done. With a sudden speed, he landed a hard kick to Lily's chest. The force of the impact sent her stumbling back, she fell to her knees, coughing violently. A trickle of blood escaped the corner of her mouth, staining the grass below.
The crowd grasped in shock.
"Oh my God, is she okay?"
"Alex is too brutal!!"
Alex stood tall looking down at lily. "I told you," he said with a loud and mocking voice. "You are no match for me. You're just a useless girl with sharp tongue. You can't do anything on your own, just give up."
Those words cut deeper than the kick, igniting a fire within Lily. She steadied her breath, and stood up slowly, wiping the blood from her lips with the back of her hand. Her eyes locked on Alex. Now burning with fury.
"I will make you regret what you just said," She said coldly.
Alex smirk brushing her off. "what are you going to do about it?"
As he charged at her, ready to throw a punch charged at her face, Lily moved like lightning. She ducked under his swing and executed a backflip landing directly behind him.
Lily wasn't done, she closed the distance. Planting her fist firmly into his stomach. Alex gasped for air as the impact sent him to the ground, weakened and off-balance.
Alex tried to stand on his feet but Lily was already moving. With a swift motion, she pinned him down, her knee pressing firmly into his chest and her hand gripping his shoulder.
The crowd began counting....
