Chapter 24: Chapter 24
Uzumaki Chito sighed inwardly before nodding slightly. "Since you've asked, there's no problem."
He raised his feet and walked slowly toward Neji. Stopping in front of him, Uzumaki Chito reached out, gently removing Neji's forehead protector. His fingers lightly touched the cursed seal of the Caged Bird on Neji's forehead, and with a slight tap, a pale cyan light shimmered.
The cursed mark began to dissolve, its intricate design melting away like water.
Neji winced as a sharp, needle-like pain pricked his forehead. But just as quickly as it came, the pain vanished, replaced by an overwhelming sensation of freedom.
Neji activated his Byakugan instinctively. For the first time, the blind spot inherent to the Byakugan disappeared entirely. The tiny but critical dead angle—only 1%—was gone.
The Caged Bird's restraints on him were truly lifted.
Neji bowed deeply, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Lord Chito!"
Uzumaki Chito waved his hand dismissively, though his gaze lingered on Neji. With a faint smile, he asked, "I have information regarding the Hyuga clan. Would you like to know?"
Neji straightened up, taking a deep breath. "Yes, I would."
Uzumaki Chito didn't lower his voice, speaking openly before everyone present. "The Byakugan, like the Sharingan, can evolve."
The statement sent shockwaves through the group.
Sasuke, listening intently from the sidelines, perked up. "The Sharingan has another level of evolution—the Mangekyo Sharingan. Are you saying the Byakugan has something similar?"
Uzumaki Chito ignored Sasuke's interjection, keeping his focus on Neji.
Neji, too, was stunned. An evolved Byakugan? He had never heard of such a thing. Even the main family, with all their privileges, had never displayed such an evolution.
Uzumaki Chito chuckled. "The curse mark of the Caged Bird was designed with the help of my Uzumaki clan."
Neji's confusion deepened. "Why would the Uzumaki clan assist in creating such a seal?"
"The original purpose of the Caged Bird was to protect the Hyuga clan," Uzumaki Chito explained, his tone calm. "Of course, over time, it has been used for other purposes. But its essence is to safeguard the clan."
Neji's expression was conflicted. He wanted to object but remained silent.
Uzumaki Chito continued. "If the Byakugan evolves, it becomes something known as the Tenseigan. The Tenseigan is a power on par with, or perhaps even surpassing, the Mangekyo Sharingan. It wields enough strength to destroy the world."
The weight of Uzumaki Chito's words settled heavily on everyone present. Even Sasuke, usually arrogant, fell silent.
Neji's eyes burned with curiosity and longing. Though he didn't speak, his expression clearly conveyed his desire to understand how to achieve such power.
Uzumaki Chito's gaze softened. "To awaken the Tenseigan is simple in theory. It requires the sacrifice of many Byakugan. Only by pooling their power can one create the Tenseigan."
Neji's blood ran cold.
The conditions for unlocking such power were chilling. A "large number of Byakugan"? It was no wonder Uzumaki Chito described the Caged Bird as a protective measure—it safeguarded the clan from being wiped out by internal greed or external threats.
Uzumaki Chito smirked slightly. "This clone of mine won't last long. If you want to explore this path further, find me later with Naruto."
Neji nodded cautiously, the weight of the revelation pressing heavily on him.
Without another word, Uzumaki Chito's clone dissipated with a puff of white smoke.
Shikamaru watched Neji and Naruto warily, his sharp mind already calculating the implications. This was bad. They were struggling enough to contain Naruto, and now Neji had joined him, free from the shackles of the Caged Bird.
This was a situation they couldn't handle on their own.
Naruto and Neji exchanged glances, an unspoken agreement passing between them. Both turned their focus on the remaining Konoha Genin, ready to strike.
Naruto was the first to move, stepping forward and preparing an attack.
But before he could strike, a dark shadow suddenly flashed across the field.
Boom.
The ground shook violently as something massive landed, sending up a thick cloud of smoke.
As the smoke cleared, an enormous toad stood at the center of the battlefield.
Shikamaru's sharp eyes widened in recognition. His father had spoken of Konoha's legendary shinobi, and this man's reputation preceded him.
This was one of the Legendary Sannin, the Toad Sage—Jiraiya.
Jiraiya's imposing figure stood atop the massive toad, his usual playful demeanor replaced by a look of steely determination.
