Chapter 126: Chapter 124: The Troublemaker
Chapter 124: The Troublemaker
"Speak, what do you want me to do?"
After collecting himself, Uchiha Setsuna finally turned his gaze to Uchiha Yatsushiro and his group.
Seeing Setsuna's attention shift, Yatsushiro quickly recounted, in exaggerated detail, the injustices and unfair treatment the Uchiha clan had suffered over the years.
However, to their surprise, Setsuna didn't seem particularly agitated. Instead, he remained unnervingly calm.
The reaction puzzled Yatsushiro and the others, but they pressed on.
"Setsuna-sama, everyone is waiting for you to take the lead!"
At this, Uchiha Setsuna let out a mocking laugh. His sharp gaze swept over everyone present before settling on Uchiha Obito.
"Just tell me directly—what do you want me to do?"
Being stared at like that, Obito felt an inexplicable chill run down his spine. It was as though Setsuna could see right through him.
In truth, despite being imprisoned for fifteen years, Uchiha Setsuna's mind remained sharp. He had already deduced the situation from their words.
History was repeating itself. What Yatsushiro and his followers were attempting was not unlike the rebellion he had once led.
They were simply using him as a figurehead.
But Setsuna didn't mind playing along. Even if Obito's motives were not aligned with the Uchiha clan's, Setsuna didn't care. The ideals he once clung to could not be so easily abandoned.
"Let me go crazy one more time," he thought.
Yatsushiro spoke again, his tone filled with expectation:
"Setsuna-sama, we hope you can rally more supporters to our cause."
"Fine," Setsuna replied without hesitation.
The swift and decisive answer brought joy to Yatsushiro and the others. They immediately began preparing for their next steps.
---
Moments Later
At the edge of the Uchiha compound, two groups of ninjas stood tensely, facing each other.
One group, led by Uchiha Fugaku, stood firm with unwavering expressions. Opposite them stood Setsuna, flanked by his newfound followers.
Fugaku's eyes fell on Setsuna, and his voice was heavy with suppressed anger.
"Setsuna-sama, are you truly going to do this?"
"Fugaku," Setsuna said coldly. "This isn't my choice. Look at the people behind me. Even after all these years, they still stand with me. Doesn't that tell you something?"
"Setsuna-sama, the village has changed. If you continue down this path, you'll only drive the Uchiha clan into ruin."
Fugaku's tone was pleading, but resolute. He gestured to Namikaze Minato, who stood beside him.
"This man is the village's Fourth Hokage. He is standing here, right now, beside me. You need to give the younger generation a chance."
Hearing this, Setsuna shot Minato a look of mild surprise. He hadn't expected such a seemingly ordinary young man to hold the position of Hokage.
For a moment, he considered Fugaku's words. But it was too late to turn back now. Even if he wanted to, those behind him—especially Obito—wouldn't allow it.
Setsuna's gaze shifted subtly toward Obito and the others.
Turning back to Fugaku, he shook his head.
"It's already too late. You are the Uchiha clan's leader. If you don't want bloodshed among our own people, let us leave."
Fugaku's expression darkened at this.
Such a demand was impossible. If he allowed this faction to leave, the Uchiha clan would be split in two, and the fallout would affect the entire village.
The precedent it would set was unthinkable. If the Uchiha could separate, what would stop other clans from doing the same?
The village would fracture, and chaos would reign once more—returning them to the endless wars of the Warring States Period.
Taking a deep breath, Fugaku ignored Setsuna and instead addressed the other Uchiha present.
"Do you all intend to betray the village as well? Look at everything the Fourth Hokage has done for us. Are you truly ready to throw everything away?"
He pointed accusingly at Obito.
"And do you even know who this man is? He's the one who unleashed the Nine-Tails and nearly destroyed this village!"
The accusation caused a stir. Many Uchiha turned their gazes toward Obito, their eyes filled with confusion and doubt.
Obito, however, said nothing.
Explaining himself wasn't part of his plan. From the beginning, his goal was simple: to incite conflict and weaken Konoha.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have stormed the high-security prison so openly.
What he hadn't anticipated was Minato's swift response, which forced him into an incomplete position.
---
Suddenly, Yamanaka Inoichi's voice echoed in Minato's mind via the Mind Link Technique.
"Fourth Hokage, the Jonin squads have gathered. Do you need reinforcements?"
Minato glanced around and replied calmly, "Not yet."
"Understood."
A moment later, Inoichi's voice returned with an urgent update:
"ANBU reports that the sensory barrier detected another space-time ninjutsu not long ago. Someone has infiltrated the village."
Minato's heart sank. "Who?"
"According to the barrier's feedback, the intruder used Flying Thunder God—so we suspect it's Baishi. Additionally..."
"What else?"
"The ANBU discovered a Root member near the entry point," Inoichi replied.
"Root?"
"Yes."
Root... Danzo... and now Baishi... what is happening here? Minato's thoughts raced.
Before he could process it further, several masked figures suddenly appeared nearby.
Leading them was none other than Shimura Danzo.
A terrible premonition struck Minato, and he immediately turned to Danzo.
"Danzo, what are you doing here?"
Danzo's sharp, calculating gaze swept over the gathered Uchiha before he replied coldly:
"I'm here to eliminate the village's unstable elements."
The statement had an immediate effect. It wasn't just Setsuna's faction that reacted with fury—even Fugaku's loyalists turned to glare at Danzo.
Seeing this, Uchiha Yatsushiro seized the opportunity.
"Did you hear that?" he shouted. "This is how the village sees us—as nothing more than unstable elements! Is this the village you want to fight for? We've had enough—stand and fight!"
With that, Yatsushiro launched the first attack, targeting Danzo's group.
Danzo swiftly retreated behind his men and shouted at Fugaku:
"Fugaku, control your people! Or are you all intent on rebellion?"
The accusation struck a nerve. As much as Fugaku despised Danzo's inflammatory words, he couldn't ignore the truth in them.
If he allowed Yatsushiro and his followers to continue, the Uchiha would be branded as traitors, and the consequences would be disastrous.
The hard-won trust between the village and the Uchiha would crumble entirely.
"Stop them!" Fugaku commanded, his voice echoing with authority.
His loyalists hesitated only for a moment before stepping forward to restrain the rebels.
At the same time, Minato watched the chaos unfold, his heart heavy.
This is exactly what someone wants—to pit us against one another.
