Chapter 80: Chapter 2: Searching for Summons!
Yuto stood with his arms crossed, staring at the ten shadow clones kneeling in front of him, all of them immersed in their respective tasks. The training ground was littered with Fuinjutsu scrolls and ink bottles, each clone etching intricate patterns as quickly as possible. Occasionally, a flicker of red from their Kamigan would flash as they scanned their progress, making their learning faster and more efficient.
"Keep it up," Yuto ordered firmly, his green eyes narrowing. "We can't afford to slack. If we want to get stronger before the Chunin Exams, every minute counts."
One of the clones muttered under his breath, "I swear this feels like clone slavery…"
Yuto glanced at him briefly before ignoring the complaint altogether. 'Lazy bastards. I'm giving them a purpose, and they're whining?' Shaking his head, he walked back into his room and picked up a kunai and marked it with his chakra anchor ability.
"This will do," he muttered to himself. Placing the kunai carefully on his desk, Yuto weaved several hand signs, feeling his chakra flow into the seals before slamming his palm on the floor.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
In an instant, the air around him shifted, and with a loud puff of smoke, Yuto vanished from his room.
Yuto materialized in a dense, humid jungle. Tall trees loomed around him, their leaves forming an impenetrable green canopy that blocked out most of the sunlight. He took a deep breath, the earthy scent of vegetation filling his lungs.
"This place… feels alive," Yuto muttered, his Kamigan flaring as he scanned the surroundings. Suddenly, the sound of fluttering wings echoed through the forest. Yuto snapped his head up, and his eyes widened.
A giant dragonfly, nearly the size of a house, hovered in the air. Its translucent wings were a blur, whipping up wind so sharp that it sliced through the surrounding trees.
"Wind blades? Not bad," Yuto remarked, a smirk forming on his lips as he dodged a volley of slicing winds, his body moving effortlessly with a Body Flicker Jutsu. The dragonfly wasn't backing down; its wings flapped even harder, sending more razor-sharp gusts toward him.
'This thing is fast. But speed means nothing if I can control its mind.'
Locking his Kamigan eyes on the beast, Yuto whispered, "Hypnosis."
The red glow of his Kamigan intensified, and the dragonfly froze mid-air. Its wings slowed as the hypnotic power of Yuto's eyes took over. The enormous insect lowered itself to the ground obediently, its head bowed slightly as though acknowledging Yuto as its master.
Yuto pulled out a blank summoning scroll, one that Kakashi had taught him how to create. This scrool will allow beasts who have been trained or are willing to help to become the summoners summons. Though it is tough to get different summons, yuto could literally just hypnotize the animals as they have less will compared to humans. Black chains of chakra shot out from the scroll, wrapping tightly around the dragonfly. The glowing seals shimmered before fading into the dragonfly's body.
The scroll pulsed softly as the kanji for "Dragonfly" etched itself onto one of the empty columns. Yuto smirked as he stored the scroll in his inventory.
"One down. Plenty of space left to go."
Yuto reappeared in an entirely different environment—a freezing snow-covered mountain. Icy winds howled around him, forcing him to circulate chakra to keep himself warm.
"Damn, it's cold," he muttered, shivering as his feet crunched through the snow.
Suddenly, the ground beneath him rumbled violently. "What the—?!"
The snow exploded as a giant worm burst forth, its armored body glistening with a mix of black, red, and blue plates. Its massive arrowhead-shaped crystal, glowing orange, pulsed with fire chakra.
"So you're my next summon, huh?" Yuto whispered, activating his Kamigan to scan the creature. Just then, the worm opened its mouth and shot a fire beam directly at him.
Reacting swiftly, Yuto's palm glowed as he raised it to intercept. "Chakra Absorption."
The fire beam disappeared into his hand, causing steam to rise around him. Yuto grinned, his red eyes gleaming with amusement.
"Your fire chakra is decent, but let's test your defense!"
Forming a solar ball in his palm, he enlarged it to the size of a boulder before launching it at the worm. The ball collided with the worm's armored plates, leaving scorch marks on its surface. To Yuto's surprise, the burns began to heal almost immediately.
"Regeneration too? Now we're talking."
Using Hypnosis once again, Yuto subdued the worm, its massive body going still. He repeated the sealing process, the chains wrapping around the creature as the kanji for "Worm" appeared in the scroll.
"That's two. This is going smoother than I thought."
Yuto's next summoning attempt took him back to a jungle, though this time he found himself in front of a massive cave. His Kamigan scanned the area, picking up hundreds of chakra signatures.
"Interesting… let's see what's hiding in there."
Yuto formed a Solar Beam in his hand, blasting it into the cave's entrance. The resulting explosion shook the ground, collapsing the cave. Seconds later, a screech echoed through the air as a giant bat emerged from the debris, its wings spreading wide as it let out an ear-piercing cry.
Yuto's Kamigan flared as he watched in fascination. "A cloning ability?"
The bat's body shivered, and with a sickening split, it cloned itself into a perfect duplicate. Both bats screeched in unison, their wings casting long shadows over the jungle floor as sonic attacks hit the ground where Yuto previously stood, shattering the ground.
'It can multiply endlessly and has sound based abilities as well… this could be useful.'
Yuto quickly disposed of one of the clones, leaving the original alive. Hypnotizing it with his Kamigan, he bind himself with the bat as the kanji for "Bat" appeared alongside the others.
Yuto returned to his room, holding the summoning scroll in his hand. He had used the summoning jutsu 5 more times but the animals were not up for his standards and were very weak compared to the first 3.
The other columns remained empty for now, waiting to be filled.
'Wind, Fire and sound based attack power, flying in the air with the dragonfly to escape, underground escape or sneak attack with the worm, and the annoying duplication ability of the bat to stall and annoy others or for crowd control. These three will be my starting arsenal, but I'm not done yet. I have to surpass Nagato in the summoning jutsu.'
Placing the scroll carefully on his desk, Yuto sat back and muttered to himself, "I need more. Stronger ones. But for now… this is good progress."
