Chapter 12: Naruto: Of bone and ice: Chapter 8(3)
"Which one is real!" One of the ninja said in a panic, looking at all the mirrors that had my full reflection. I killed him first. With blinding speed, I jumped out of the mirror I was in and rushed towards the other one, but halfway there, I tore the bone bullets off my fingertips, his body was riddled with holes. The others froze in fear at the sight of their comrade's body, one of them quickly turned around and ran towards him.
"No, wait!" The Anbu member shouted, but it was too late. I lunged faster than the eye could see and plunged one of my bone blades into his shoulder and into his heart. Now there were only two of them left, and I could tell they didn't like their chances.
Massive fire and wind ninjutsu combined, burning everything around him to a crisp. "Did we catch him?" One of the Anbu asked. No one spoke until they saw Tachi's body. Somehow he had survived the attack, his body looked demonic as all of his flesh and clothes were burned away. His entire body was an outer layer of bone, like an exoskeleton. He was chasing the shinobi.
"Who the hell is he? That jutsu should have melted even his bones!" Tachi, despite looking like an Immortal Monster, was still injured. He covered his entire body in hard bone, even his mouth and eyes, to make sure they didn't melt from the intense heat. All of his skin was torn off, and the pain he felt must have been excruciating.
Despite this, he let out a howling battle cry and charged at the Anbu. He managed to catch one of them off guard and pierced his sword through his chest, dealing a fatal blow. Another one standing next to him slashed at the back of his head with his sword, but it broke when it came into contact with hard bone. Tachi quickly parried, as spikes shot out from his body from all directions, one of them striking the shinobi in the shoulder.
"Water Style, Raging Waves!" One of the Anbu shouted as he fired a massive stream of water at Tachi. The force of the water was enough to send him flying back towards the tree trunk he hit. The other quickly made some hand signs and held out his hand. "Lightning Style!" He shouted as the blade of electricity hit the water. Tachi was unable to move and was hit by the combined Water and Lightning Styles hitting him and leaving him badly injured. His bones may have been harder than steel, but they were not resistant to lightning.
Tachi fell to his knees, breathing heavily. The battle had knocked him out of his stride, and he was now seriously injured. Two Anbu jumped over one, helping their wounded comrade up, while another snatched the sword from Tachi. "Any last words?" He said, infusing his blade with Lightning Style chakra.
The two shinobi stood back to back in front of my crystal ice mirrors, both holding their weapons at the ready and trying to find a way out. I tried to keep them in the middle while keeping an eye on my surroundings. Tachi was lying on the ground and I could tell he was close to being killed. There was nothing I could do. I had to kill these two and escape, it was my only chance to survive. I moved quickly from mirror to mirror, firing bone bullets from my fingertips. At first they dodged well, but soon the ordinary shinobi, who I guessed from his skills was a jonin, began to lose speed. I hit him with one of my bone bullets and the continuous fire finished him off.
I appeared behind the Anbu member and clashed blades with him. My bone blade was much stronger than his steel one, but despite that, he was able to hold his own. He was stronger than me, and his skill was clearly superior to mine. He pushed me back on the defensive, and our blades locked in a battle of strength. It took all my focus and chakra control to match what I assumed was just his normal strength.
I quickly pulled away and started making signs with one hand. I couldn't see his face behind the mask, but I could see he was surprised. The moisture in the air quickly turned into ice spikes and they shot out around him. The ANBU quickly used shunshin and avoided the attack, he flipped in the air and threw four shuriken at me. I deflected them with my bone blade and ran back to one of my ice mirrors. That was the downfall of this technique. Once you left the safety of the ice mirrors, the only way to get back to him was to physically slide back into one of them, touching him again.
He must have realized, because he quickly blocked my escape route and hit me back with a large side kick. Even with my ribs protected by a layer of bone, it still hurt to block. Our difference in strength was too great. My chances were looking slim now, and he knew it. "I hope you're willing to die for what you did, kid!" he shouted, pointing his sword at me.
He was clearly gaining the upper hand until I noticed him standing in a small pool of water on the ground. I don't know how he got there, but boy was I happy he was there. This was my chance and if I could take it I would win. I knew he had to be fast and could dodge my bone bullet technique so I pulled out an explosive kunai from my holder without seeing him. I fired five bone bullets and as I predicted he rushed forward dodging them trying to close the distance. I threw the explosive kunai to the ground. He noticed this and quickly jumped back. "Just a little bigger!" I yelled as I ran out of the dust the explosives created, I flipped in the air throwing a tornado strike at him which he blocked with his sword causing him to take a step back.
"Now! Ice Pillar!" I shouted, slamming both hands on the ground. The water around his feet suddenly froze and shot up, creating a pillar of ice, freezing his entire body and killing him. I sat on the ground, trying to catch my breath, I had used almost all of my chakra, now I didn't know if I could escape.
"The Kaguya clan lives on!" Tachi screamed at the top of his lungs. I turned around to see the Anbu chop off his head. It was a clean cut, but the added cutting power from the Lightning Style allowed it to pass through his bone exoskeleton. The head fell to the ground and his body followed.
Now this was looking really bad, not only was I the only one left, but they had found a way to bypass my Kekkei Genkai. I noticed that the three of them looked surprised as they slowly approached. They noticed their comrade frozen in the ice and the others scattered around. "He managed to kill the others by himself, he's just a kid."
"Be careful, he may be a child, but he is very strong." said the leader of the group. I stood up and weighed my options. If I tried to break free, they would easily finish me off. I could try to slip into one of my ice mirrors, but I doubt I would succeed.
My thoughts were interrupted when the crystal ice mirrors began to shatter and fall. My chakra was dangerously low and I couldn't even maintain the jutsu, "I guess this option doesn't matter." I said under my breath.
"Surrender kid, there's nowhere to go." The Anbu said. I looked like a cornered rat, but like most cornered rats, I would fight. I pulled out the large bone that was sticking out of the top of my shoulder, and then did the same on the other side. I had a blade in each hand, and I took a low, primal stance. Bones began to sprout from all over my body, preparing to take at least one of them with me if I was destined to die again.
"Be careful, he has the same jutsu as the other one. You have to act carefully." The leader said.
"They must be from the same clan." The other said as he let his lightning style flow through his blade.
"Watch out!" The Anbu leader shouted as a storm of shuriken and kunai engulfed our small battlefield. The Anbu managed to repel the attack, but stepped back to get a better view of the situation.
Three mist shinobi landed in front of me. "Looks like today is your lucky day, kid." One of them said without turning to face me. I didn't recognize any of them, but it didn't matter, I was just glad they showed up.
"Damn it, reinforcements! Retreat!" The Anbu leader said, throwing a smoke bomb onto the ground. Another Anbu quickly grabbed the injured one and they all ran through the tree line. The Mist ninja didn't give chase, but instead turned to face me. The man in the middle looked over the aftermath of our skirmish and whistled. "Damn child, you did all this?" He asked, clearly impressed. I no longer had the strength to speak, and now that the threat was gone, my body felt like lead. I fell to one knee, trying to catch myself before falling. The Mist ninja looked at each other and nodded.
- Come on, baby, let's take you back to the checkpoint."
