Fugaku sent word early in the morning to the three captains, telling them to wait for him in his office.

When he stepped into the office, Fugaku frowned.

"Where's Kazuki?"

"No idea."

Shimeki shook his head.

Endo also indicated he didn't know.

Where did this kid go?

Fugaku immediately called for his secretary to inquire. The secretary rushed into the office and said helplessly:

"Clan leader, I sent someone to inform Captain Kazuki in advance, but no one was at his house. I also checked the rest area and office of the First Squad, but he wasn't there either. I asked around, but no one has seen the captain."

What is this kid up to? During such an important time, he's nowhere to be found.

"Forget it."

Fugaku didn't dwell on it. He informed Shimeki and Endo about the adjustments in the Police Force. As for Kazuki, they could discuss it after he arrived at work. Since Kazuki and Uchiha Shimeki were quite close to him, they would probably inform him of the changes themselves without Fugaku having to explain.

---

"You're late for work!!!" Kurenai angrily shoved away the arms clinging tightly to her, feeling like she was about to go mad.

But Kazuki refused to let go, turning his head to continue sleeping.

"Relax, so what if I'm late? I was up half the night. If you're not tired, I am."

"You…" Kurenai was so frustrated she wanted to bite him. 'You kept me up half the night, and you dare say you're the one who's tired?'

How did things turn out like this? Kurenai was confused.

She vaguely remembered going to a BBQ restaurant with Kazuki. In her bad mood, she had a lot to drink. Alcohol gave her courage. Once drunk, she was no longer afraid of what Kazuki might do, and she pulled him into drinking with her. Soon, both were quite drunk.

In the end, Kazuki carried her home to rest.

At her place, of course.

By the time Kurenai woke up, they had spent half the night together.

What was this?

Had she given herself away?

For free?

Kurenai was filled with frustration.

On the first day after his coming-of-age ceremony, Kazuki proudly skipped work, sleeping until noon before getting up. He didn't care much about the adjustments in the Police Force or what was happening in the village. Was it important?

As long as he knew Tsunade had become the Fifth Hokage, why bother with the details? Could anything be more important than finally getting a girlfriend?

---

"Captain, Clan leader is looking for you."

By the time Kazuki arrived at the Police Force, it was already afternoon. He was the only one showing up at this time, aside from the night-shift staff.

Izumi sniffed hard, noticing a strong scent of alcohol and a faint fragrance on Kazuki—something floral.

"Got it. I'll go over now... What are you doing?"

Seeing Izumi frowning and moving closer, sniffing around him, Kazuki couldn't help but tap her forehead.

"Ouch." Izumi clutched her head in pain, jumping back and pouting.

"Captain, why did you hit me? I just noticed you smelled like perfume and alcohol."

"You're still a kid. Who taught you to sniff around men like that?"

Kazuki lectured her with a stern face before heading toward Clan leader's office.

Along the way, Kazuki sniffed his clothes. There was only the scent of alcohol, nothing else. Could it be that girls just have more sensitive noses?

---

"Where were you last night?"

If it were someone else, Fugaku would've chewed them out by now.

It was already this late, and he was just now arriving for work? Did he think the Police Force was his personal playground?

"I drank too much and slept at a friend's place."

Kazuki explained casually.

"Hmm, next time drink less." Given the excuse, Fugaku didn't press the issue further. He knew that if he pushed too hard, Kazuki wouldn't care anyway.

Fugaku poured two cups of tea, sliding one over to Kazuki, and said:

"The village has made several adjustments. Part of the ANBU's authority has been transferred to the Police Force. Also, since the Fifth Hokage's appointment was rather hasty, the Police Force will be quite busy in the coming days."

"That's good news. It's probably Tsunade's doing. She's disappointed with the ANBU, but we need to be careful not to become overconfident."

In such times, the Uchiha must act cautiously. No rash actions.

Otherwise, all the trust they've built will be wasted.

"The clan needs to be cleaned up quickly. You wouldn't want us working hard on the outside while there are people inside dragging us down, right?"

The hardliners were not just dragging them down; that would be the least of their problems. Kazuki feared that if the hardliners sensed they were being targeted, they would stir up even more trouble, which would be a huge headache.

Causing chaos within the family was one thing; Uchiha could handle its own problems behind closed doors. But if they jumped too high and made trouble in front of Tsunade, all the efforts of Kazuki and Fugaku would be for nothing.

Tsunade wasn't prejudiced against the Uchiha, but that didn't mean the Uchiha could act out in front of her.

There was no more time to waste.

Kazuki gave Fugaku a clear hint.

Seeing Fugaku's silence, Kazuki shook his head slightly.

"Will you do it, or should I?" The hardliners could no longer be tolerated. If Fugaku, their cautious clan head, couldn't make up his mind, then Kazuki would take matters into his own hands.

Even if it meant using harsh measures and making enemies, those who caused trouble and dragged the clan down had to be dealt with. It was time to make a choice. This was a critical moment for the clan, and Fugaku couldn't afford to take a step back.

If he didn't act, Kazuki would.

Kazuki had already made up his mind to target the hardliners.

They had caused enough disruption. It was time for it to end. A united Uchiha was more important than anything else. Anyone trying to drag them down or cause trouble at this critical time wouldn't be spared by Kazuki.

Whether it was an elder of the clan or even the clan head, Kazuki wouldn't back down.

Fugaku weighed the pros and cons. Kazuki didn't rush him, patiently waiting.

Who knows how long passed, but when Kazuki finished his cup of tea, Fugaku finally spoke.

"I'll handle it. Over the next period, I'll take care of the internal family conflicts and the Police Force's work."

He added, "Your job is to keep an eye on Danzo and not give him any chance to make a move."

So decisive?

Kazuki was surprised. Was this usually cautious clan head finally showing his ruthless side again?

"I'll make sure to entertain Danzo well, but as for you, Clan Head, you'll likely bear a heavy burden of blame, and you might not be welcomed in the village. Someone has to do it. Between you and me, I'd rather have my hands stained with our clan members' blood."

One of them had to act, either Kazuki or Fugaku.

Once they moved, they couldn't give the hardliners any opportunity. Several elders and the hardcore supporters of the hardliners had to be cleared out. Whoever took action would carry the heavy burden of infamy, becoming the most disliked person in both the clan and the village.
