No one would like someone who would go after the clan elders and their own people so ruthlessly. If he treats his own people like this, what would he do to outsiders?
After deep consideration, Fugaku decided to take matters into his own hands and sent Kazuki to the prison to keep an eye on Danzo and give him a bit of "care" to slowly collect interest.
He would deal with the hardliners himself, bearing the infamy.
Compared to him, Kazuki needed to protect his reputation more, as he would be the positive representative of the Uchiha.
"Alright."
With things settled to this point, Kazuki had no reason to refuse.
Since Fugaku was willing to shoulder everything, he might as well let him.
"Then I'll be on my way." Waving goodbye, Kazuki left the office.
In the hallway, Endo and Shimeki stood waiting for him. Kazuki knew they were there for him.
He signaled them with his eyes to follow.
The three left the police force headquarters and went to a secluded training field in the clan grounds.
"In a few days, I'll be leading a team to Konoha prison to personally keep an eye on Danzo. During that time, I need you two to keep an eye on the police force and clan matters. No matter what major events happen within the clan, act as if you don't know and look after your own people. Once everything is over, the clan leader will explain the situation to you."
"Shimeki, pick up the pace. As a squad leader, you can't even control your subordinates; that's not the Uchiha style. You need to be ruthless when necessary, even with our own people."
"I'll do my best." Shimeki nodded. Since it was Kazuki's order, there was no reason to hold back anymore.
He was getting fed up with those subordinates who were constantly defying orders and acting sarcastic.
"Kazuki, are you saying the clan leader will…?"
Compared to Shimeki, Endo had more concerns.
Even though Kazuki didn't spell it out, he could tell that the clan wouldn't be peaceful for a while, and that something significant was going to happen, all of which would be led by Fugaku.
"It's something that needs to be faced sooner or later. Now that the Fifth Hokage is here, dealing with this early is beneficial for the clan. Some people just can't be kept around."
If possible, who would want to go after their clan members and elders? It's not easy to bear the infamy. In the long run, necessary sacrifices are worthwhile for the unity of the Uchiha.
The hardliners can only blame themselves for their stubborn minds, constantly planning coups and vying for the Hokage's seat. They never consider the fact that the Uchiha are already in a precarious position, consumed with crazy plans.
Endo gave a bitter smile, "This is madness. The clan leader's reputation will be ruined."
He couldn't imagine how much worse Fugaku's reputation would get once he dealt with those who needed to be cleaned out.
"But someone has to do it. If it's not the clan leader, it would be me. Do you understand?"
Kazuki placed a hand on Endo's shoulder, looking him straight in the eye.
"Don't forget our initial purpose. Necessary sacrifices can be accepted for the clan."
"I understand."
Endo sighed. Necessary sacrifices could be accepted, but for the clan leader…
Forget it; this wasn't something he could handle or worry about. He just needed to focus on his duties.
Kazuki would always be there to face whatever came.
Watching Kazuki's departing figure, Endo nudged Shimeki with his elbow.
"Do you get the feeling that Kazuki has changed in a special way?"
Are you out of your mind? Or are you seeing things?
Shimeki shot him a look that said, "Are you insane?" and walked away.
A special change?
I think the only special change here is you.
The Hokage office was lively; the Hokage's inauguration had numerous procedures to follow, most of which Tsunade despised, but rules were rules. Like it or not, she had to put up with it and force herself to accept it.
Though she hadn't officially taken office, Tsunade was already wearing the Hokage robes, sitting in the Hokage's office, and taking charge of the village.
The Third Hokage had already handed over everything to her and returned home to retire.
Advisors Koharu and Homura were supposed to assist Tsunade, but she didn't like them much and wouldn't summon them unless absolutely necessary. To prevent these two old geezers from meddling, Tsunade threw all the annoying inauguration tasks at them, so she could focus on handling village affairs.
Now, she faced a troubling matter.
The Anbu.
The first thing Tsunade wanted to do in the Hokage office was to reform the Anbu.
The Anbu was full of all sorts of "monsters and demons" she couldn't trust. But reorganizing the Anbu wasn't a small matter, with all the secrecy and security issues, making her want to pull her hair out.
"Sigh…"
She had never realized how tough it was to become Hokage until she actually sat in this position.
Not everything could be handled exactly as she wanted.
"Where's Jiraiya?"
She couldn't bear the headache alone and decided to get some help. Naturally, she thought of Jiraiya first, who was doing nothing.
Here she was, busy to no end, and he's out there playing full-time dad? What a lucky guy.
"Hokage-sama, Jiraiya-sama went to the Ninja Academy to pick up Naruto after school."
The procedures weren't completed yet, but the Anbu members had already started calling her Hokage-sama.
"It's this late, and he's still picking up kids from school?!"
Tsunade cursed, "Tell him to come to the Hokage office immediately, and also notify Kazuki to come over."
"Yes, ma'am!"
Frustrating.
Tsunade realized she was a bit out of touch with the village.
If she didn't want to rely on the old men of the council, her options were limited.
Jiraiya was one.
Apart from him, there were no other good choices, so she decided to pull Kazuki in.
She wasn't concerned with the issue of watching the Uchiha. The most important thing now was to deal with the immediate troubles.
Maybe Kazuki could provide her with some good solutions.
After work.
Kazuki was far more punctual than he used to be. After leaving the police force, he didn't feel like going home and headed straight to Kurenai's house.
Upon hearing the door open, Kurenai, who was cooking in the kitchen, knew Kazuki had arrived.
"The slippers are ready; dinner will be served shortly."
Putting on the new slippers, he lounged casually on the sofa, realizing that his quality of life had greatly improved since entering this relationship.
Kurenai no longer bothered herself with their relationship. They weren't kids anymore, so what was there to worry about?
What was meant to happen had happened. It wasn't like he would ignore her after they were done, right? If anyone would be ignoring someone after, it would likely be Kazuki, and the one feeling hurt would only be her.
So, Kurenai calmly accepted the fact that her life now included another person.
With the meal ready, Kazuki didn't hesitate. After washing his hands, he began eating directly.
