Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Seizing the Future with Her Own Hands

Mirai gently wiped away the tears trailing down Mikoto's cheeks, his actions calm yet resolute. The shock in Mikoto's eyes was evident.

"It seems unlocking the Mangekyō Sharingan really does require talent," Mirai thought with a trace of disappointment.

After using Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto, Mirai could sense her eye power significantly strengthening. Yet, just as it neared a critical point, the growth ceased. He had hoped she might awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan in one go, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

"Was that... all just a genjutsu?" Mikoto murmured after a long moment, struggling to distinguish between illusion and reality. Relief washed over her as she realized it had been an illusion. If what she had experienced were real, she doubted she could have stayed sane.

Mirai chuckled softly, shaking his head.

"Mikoto, that wasn't a mere illusion," he said, his voice calm yet ominous. "It was a possible future."

"A future where Fugaku leads the Uchiha clan. Everything you saw would come to pass."

Mikoto shook her head vehemently, disbelief coloring her features. "Impossible! You're lying!"

Mirai pointed to his Mangekyō Sharingan, the tomoe spinning ominously.

"The technique is called Tsukiyomi no Mikoto. It's one of my Mangekyō's abilities. You felt it yourself, didn't you? No ordinary genjutsu could create such a vivid and detailed world."

His voice was a mix of truth and deceit. Mikoto had no way of knowing that what she experienced was merely a well-crafted simulation. And yet, it wasn't entirely false—without his intervention, events would likely unfold exactly as she had seen.

"A possible future..." Mikoto whispered, her body trembling as she collapsed to her knees. Her composed façade crumbled, replaced by vulnerability and fear. She now understood why Mirai had taken such extreme measures against Fugaku.

In the vision, Fugaku's leadership pushed the Uchiha closer and closer to destruction. The clan was annihilated. Itachi and Sasuke—brothers turned against each other in tragedy.

That future...

It couldn't be allowed to happen.

Seeing Mikoto's frail state, Mirai felt a dark flame stir within him. He knelt, pulling her into a gentle embrace and patting her back softly.

Like a startled rabbit, Mikoto quickly pulled away.

"Mirai, what are you doing?" she asked, her voice tense with alarm.

Mirai smiled. "Nothing much. I just think it's a shame that someone as remarkable as you ended up with someone like Fugaku." He paused, letting the words sink in before continuing. "What if you chose me instead?"

A faint blush spread across Mikoto's cheeks.

"Don't even think about it!" she snapped, her voice quivering.

Unfazed, Mirai's tone turned serious. "Without my power, what you saw will become reality. Mikoto-san, would you really let your children suffer like that? Watch them destroy each other?"

His words carried the weight of inevitability, causing Mikoto's face to turn deathly pale. Among all the horrors she had witnessed, none hurt more than seeing Itachi and Sasuke's fates. One burdened with infamy and illness, the other consumed by revenge, only to uncover the bitter truth too late.

Finally, with no strength to argue, Mikoto sat still as Mirai reached out, gently running his hand through her hair.

"Use your own hands, Mikoto-san," he whispered. "Seize the future you desire."

...

The Next Morning

Warm sunlight filtered into the room as Mirai opened his eyes. The room was empty. If not for the faint scent and the sweat-stained sheets, it might have seemed like nothing had happened at all.

Smiling faintly, he dressed and headed out. "Women are like water—soft but unstoppable," he mused, his smile deepening.

At the Konoha Police Force headquarters, Mirai skimmed through the documents on his desk. The once-vocal opposition within the Uchiha clan had fallen silent. With the pacifists disappearing one by one, those remaining had no choice but to submit.

It didn't matter. Mirai had already written down all their names.

"At this rate, Shisui will finish the cleanup soon," he thought.

Just then, Uchiha Hachida rushed into the room.

"Mirai-sama, Danzo Shimura has been visiting other clans frequently, often taking their children with him."

Mirai sneered. "Just as I expected. Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo would never sit idly by. They'll do whatever it takes to strengthen their position."

Danzo's actions didn't surprise him in the least. After all, many of Root's members had fallen to Mirai in the past two and a half years. Danzo wouldn't hesitate to replenish his ranks by preying on Konoha's clans.

"Which clans has he targeted recently?" Mirai asked.

"The Aburame and Inuzuka clans," Hachida replied.

"Good. Keep monitoring the situation," Mirai instructed, his tone sharp.

"Understood!"

...

Late That Night

Mirai opened his eyes, his Mangekyō glowing faintly in the darkness. A moment later, he vanished, reappearing in the heart of the Aburame compound.

The air was thick with the hum of insects. As Mirai stepped onto the grass, the sound of rustling leaves filled the air.

"Who's there?!"

A voice called out, and a swarm of insects surged toward Mirai, engulfing him in an instant.

But a thick, white mist began rising from within the swarm. As the mist spread, the insects dissolved into nothingness.

Within moments, the swarm had vanished entirely. Calmly, Mirai approached the room's entrance and pushed open the door.

"Relax," he said, his voice steady but firm. "I'm only here to talk."
