Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Kotoamatsukami!
Uchiha Mirai is doomed?!
Koharu's sudden declaration left everyone in the room momentarily stunned.
Hiruzen frowned. "Koharu, what do you mean by that?"
Koharu's excitement was evident as she explained, "Think about it logically. When the Uchiha clan produces a new Mangekyō Sharingan, the natural course of action is to keep it hidden—use it as an ace in the hole."
"Just like a shinobi conceals their trump card, revealing it only in critical moments to catch their opponent off guard."
"But Mirai has done the exact opposite. He openly showcased that Shisui awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, right in front of everyone."
"This suggests one thing: Uchiha Mirai has likely reached the end of his rope."
"His eyes are probably nearing blindness. By putting Shisui on display, he's trying to maintain the clan's intimidation factor."
Hiruzen and the others exchanged looks, the logic slowly sinking in. It made too much sense.
Thinking back to the recent sparring sessions, Mirai hadn't activated his own Mangekyō Sharingan even once.
Could it really mean that his visual prowess was about to run dry?
"Hahaha! Mirai—too clever for his own good!" Hiruzen exclaimed, feeling a weight lift from his shoulders. "If that's the case, it won't be long before we can launch our counterattack."
Danzo's heart raced at the thought. If Mirai's eyes were truly spent, he'd stop at nothing to claim Shisui's Mangekyō for himself. Such power belonged in his hands alone.
Koharu and Homura were equally thrilled. Their grandsons had suffered greatly under the police force's heavy hand, some even driven to madness. When Mirai was rendered powerless, they vowed to inflict tenfold the suffering.
No—a hundredfold.
And when the Uchiha clan was wiped out, their vast assets would naturally fall into their hands.
[Ding! Congratulations, host, for successfully acquiring the reward: Kotoamatsukami!]
Hearing the system's notification in his mind, Mirai's lips curled into a subtle smile.
After days of effort, he had finally obtained Kotoamatsukami.
A rush of profound knowledge flooded his mind, fully unlocking the technique's mysteries.
Turning toward the exhausted Shisui, who was barely standing, Mirai reached out to support him. His tone was light, almost amused.
"Shisui, you've done well. I've seen enough to understand your abilities. Let's end the sparring here."
Shisui exhaled deeply in relief. For some reason, Mirai's mood seemed to have taken a sudden, cheerful turn.
The past few days had been brutal—constant defeats that left him on the verge of collapse. But at last, the ordeal was over.
"Shisui, join me for dinner tonight?" Mirai offered casually.
But Shisui quickly shook his head. "Thank you, Captain, but I've got something to take care of."
Lately, Mikoto had been trying her hand at cooking under Mirai's guidance. Shisui had no intention of enduring another round of her… unique cuisine.
"Is that so?" Mirai's expression showed a flicker of disappointment. "What's keeping you busy?"
Shisui hesitated, then his eyes darted as he quickly fabricated an excuse.
"I've been mentoring a boy recently—his ideas are… troubling. He's full of dangerous notions and refuses to listen, no matter how much I try to reason with him."
"Captain, do you think I should just kill the brat and be done with it?"
Mirai chuckled softly. "This 'brat' wouldn't happen to be Mikoto's son—Uchiha Itachi, would he?"
Caught, Shisui gave an awkward laugh. "I didn't want his connection to Lady Mikoto to cloud your judgment, Captain."
Mirai didn't respond immediately, his fingers brushing his chin in thought.
Unlike Shisui, Itachi's convictions ran deep—unyielding, almost fanatical. Persuasion wouldn't work on him. Yet, killing him outright felt like a waste. His potential as a shinobi was undeniable.
After a moment, Mirai spoke decisively. "Shisui, use your Kotoamatsukami on Itachi."
"Make me the sole object of his absolute loyalty."
Shisui's eyes widened in shock. "Captain, you want me to use Kotoamatsukami on Itachi? That technique… its cooldown is too long to waste on someone like him!"
He had hoped to subtly nudge Mirai into authorizing Itachi's elimination. He hadn't anticipated this outcome.
"Do you doubt my judgment, Shisui?" Mirai's tone remained calm, but his words carried weight. "Itachi's potential will surprise even you."
"Controlling Itachi is far more valuable than killing him. The stronger my subordinates, the stronger the Uchiha become—not just because of me, but as a clan."
"With time, as my authority grows, I'll need capable hands to support me. The Uchiha are my foundation. The more talent we have, the better. Do you understand?"
Shisui's cheeks burned with shame. Compared to Mirai's grand vision, his own pettiness was glaringly apparent.
Bowing his head deeply, Shisui replied, "I understand, Captain. I'll carry out your orders."
Mirai patted his shoulder. "Good. Remember, the Uchiha won't stop at just two Mangekyō Sharingan."
"Understood."
As Shisui departed, Mirai began strolling back toward the village. The thought of enduring Mikoto's cooking dissuaded him, so he decided on Ichiraku Ramen for dinner instead.
However, just as he stepped forward, his eyes caught a glimmer of silver. A small white snake slithered from the nearby bushes, flicking its tongue in his direction.
Mirai's lips curled into a sly grin.
"So, Orochimaru's finally shown up. Perfect timing."
