Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Shurikenjutsu & Excellent Memory
Obito's chest heaved, glaring at Yuichi with unrelenting determination. His frustration burned even brighter after the humiliating blow he had just taken. "Let's see how well you can handle this!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the training grounds. With a swift motion, he reached into his ninja pouch, pulling out a handful of shurikens.
Yuichi's eyes narrowed as he saw the glint of metal flash in the sunlight. His smile widened.
Obito's arm snapped forward, releasing the shurikens in a wide, precise arc. They sped toward Yuichi, sharp and deadly.
Yuichi, unfazed, reached into his own pouch. Increase my mastery over shurikens!
The melodic voice returned, calm and measured:
[250 LP are required to bring the skill, Shurikenjutsu, from grade F to E. Would you like to proceed?]
"Yes!" Yuichi thought firmly.
The moment he confirmed it, the now-familiar rush of knowledge and muscle memory surged through him. His grip on the shurikens tightened instinctively, and his arm moved with newfound precision. Techniques he had barely grasped moments ago now felt like second nature.
With a sharp flick of his wrist, Yuichi threw his own shurikens, their trajectories nearly perfect. The crowd gasped as his projectiles intercepted Obito's mid-air.
Clang! Clang!
The metallic sound of shurikens colliding rang out as Yuichi successfully deflected some of Obito's attacks. But a few of Obito's shurikens still slipped through his defense.
Yuichi's heart raced as he spotted the remaining projectiles coming straight for him. With no time to spare, he threw himself to the side, hitting the ground and rolling out of harm's way.
The crowd erupted in murmurs once more.
"No way… Did Yuichi just deflect some of Obito's shurikens?"
"Is it me, or is Yuichi suddenly good at everything?"
Obito's smirk widened as Yuichi rolled to the side to avoid the remaining shurikens. "Hah! Looks like you're not as perfect as you think, Yuichi!" he jeered. "My shuriken skills are way better than yours. You had to dodge, didn't you? Guess I win this round!"
Yuichi pushed himself up from the ground, his jaw tightening at Obito's smug tone. He clenched his fists, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. Tch! That wasn't enough to rival Obito's shuriken skill? Wasn't he supposed to be talentless at this point?!
He reached for his ninja pouch again, his frustration getting the better of him. Increase my mastery over shurikens ag—
Before he could finish the thought, a sharp voice cut through the tension like a blade.
"Enough!"
The commanding tone of the teacher silenced the training grounds instantly. The students, who had been buzzing with murmurs, fell quiet, their attention snapping to the stern figure now stepping into the circle.
Both Yuichi and Obito froze, their gazes meeting the teacher's sharp, unyielding eyes.
"This is a sparring match," she said, her voice firm and unwavering. "Not a grudge match, and certainly not an excuse to fling shurikens at each other like reckless fools. What part of 'no lethal techniques' did you not understand?"
Obito crossed his arms, his smirk faltering. "But I didn't even hit him! He dodged just fine—"
"Enough excuses, Obito!" the teacher snapped, silencing him instantly. "You escalated this match into something it shouldn't have been. You're better than this—or at least, you should be."
Yuichi stood stiffly, his frustration now giving way to relief as the tension in the air began to dissipate. But the teacher's gaze soon fell on him, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"And you, Yuichi," she said, her tone softer but no less scrutinizing, "where did this sudden skill come from? Just last week, you struggled to even hold a proper stance, and now you're deflecting shurikens? Care to explain?"
Yuichi's heart skipped a beat. He scrambled for an excuse, his mind racing. "Uh… I-I've been… practicing! A lot!" he stammered, avoiding her piercing gaze.
The teacher frowned, clearly unconvinced, but she let it slide. "I'll be keeping an eye on you," she said finally. "Both of you. For now, this sparring match is over. Dismissed!"
The crowd began to disperse, though the students' curious whispers lingered in the air.
"Did you see how Yuichi moved?"
"He's never been this good before…"
"Do you think he's been hiding his skills all along?"
Obito shot Yuichi one last glare before turning on his heel and stomping off, muttering under his breath. Rin hesitated for a moment, glancing between Yuichi and Obito, before rushing after the latter.
Yuichi sighed, the tension draining from his body as he watched them leave. He flexed his fingers, his frustration lingering. I need to get better… If I'm going to survive in this world, I can't afford to be second-best to anyone—even it's freaking Obito Uchiha.

Later in class...
"…and that's why visualization is critical for success with the Clone Jutsu," the teacher explained, her voice steady and authoritative. She pointed to the diagram on the board, highlighting the flow of chakra through the body.
Yuichi leaned back in his seat, a sly grin tugging at his lips. Man, creating [Excellent Memory] for 100 LP was the best decision I've made so far, he thought. Every word the teacher said etched itself into his brain with perfect clarity, as though he had a recorder playing back the lesson.
"The Clone Jutsu," the teacher continued, "is one of the most fundamental techniques you'll learn. Although it's considered basic, mastering it will set the foundation for more advanced jutsu in the future. Pay close attention."
Yuichi's sharp focus stayed locked on her every word. His classmates, meanwhile, varied in their reactions—some scribbled notes furiously, others looked confused, and a few seemed on the verge of falling asleep.
Amateurs, Yuichi thought, shaking his head.
The teacher moved to a new section of the board, drawing a simple diagram of a figure surrounded by three identical clones. "To create a convincing clone, you must first focus your chakra at your core and divide it evenly. The mental image of the clone is just as important as the chakra balance. If your visualization is unclear, the clone will appear distorted or incomplete."
Yuichi's hand instinctively touched his chin as he mulled over the explanation. He could practically feel the concepts being imprinted into his mind, as though they were already a part of him.
"Now," the teacher said, stepping away from the board and crossing her arms, "who can tell me the primary mistake students make when attempting this technique?"
Yuichi's hand shot up immediately.
