Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Creation Regeneration
As the remains of Akahoshi stood as a grim warning, none of the Hoshigakure ninjas dared approach. Eventually, one brave ninja mustered the courage to pick up the Star and hand it to Natsuhi.
"What should we do with it now?" the ninja asked, fear evident in his voice.
Natsuhi considered the question. Seeing the terror on everyone's faces, she realized that no one would dare practice the Peacock Secret Technique anymore. After a moment of thought, she replied, "The Star should remain in the training hall where it's enshrined. It's still a symbol of Hoshigakure."
She knew the Star couldn't simply be destroyed—Hoshigakure itself had been built around its existence. Her goal was to ensure its chakra would never again be used for training.
Kirito handed the Star to Natsuhi. "As long as no one draws on the Star's chakra, there won't be another tragedy like Akahoshi's."
Natsuhi nodded. "No one in Hoshigakure will use the Star for training anymore. It's a shame... so many geniuses have already been lost to its curse."
At that moment, Naruto burst through the front doors of the Hoshikage building, carrying Subaru on his back. "Kirito! We found Subaru—wait, what is that?!" Naruto recoiled as he nearly stumbled into Akahoshi's grotesque remains.
"Don't worry, Naruto," Kirito said calmly. "That's Akahoshi. He forcibly drew chakra from the Star, and this was the result of its backlash."
Naruto grimaced but quickly turned his attention to Subaru. "Is he going to be okay?"
Natsuhi rushed to her son, cradling him in her arms. Subaru was unconscious but breathing steadily. "He's just weak," Rock Lee reassured her.
Tears streamed down Natsuhi's face as she held Subaru close. She blamed herself for the dangers her son had faced, for leaving him behind in the village while she carried out her mission. "Subaru, I promise I'll stay by your side from now on," she whispered.
Seeing her anguish, Kirito stepped forward, placing a glowing hand on Subaru's forehead. With a pulse of healing chakra, Subaru stirred awake.
"Mom... Mom?" Subaru blinked as his vision cleared, seeing his mother's tear-streaked face. "You're alive?"
"Yes, Subaru. I'm here," Natsuhi replied softly, holding him tightly.
As the emotional reunion unfolded, Kirito turned to his team.
"Our mission here is basically complete," TenTen said with a relieved smile, stretching her arms. "The Star is safe, and Hoshigakure won't be using it again. We can head back now, right?"
"Almost," Kirito replied. "But I want to give them a proper conclusion."
Turning to TenTen, he said, "I'll need your help with something."
"Of course! What do you need me to do?" TenTen asked, pleased to be of assistance.
Kirito nodded toward Naruto and Rock Lee. "You two, I need you to round up Akahoshi's subordinates—the ones who were working with him before all this happened. They likely know about his actions. We'll need their testimony to expose his crimes fully."
"You got it!" Naruto exclaimed, while Lee gave an enthusiastic thumbs-up.
As the two ran off to complete their task, Kirito brought TenTen to Natsuhi.
"I have a way to heal the damage the Star has done to your body," Kirito explained. "But it's risky. The success rate isn't guaranteed."
Natsuhi's eyes widened. She glanced at Subaru, who was resting nearby, and made her decision. "I'll do it. What are the risks if it fails?"
"At worst, your condition will stay the same," Kirito assured her.
With a deep breath, Natsuhi agreed. "Let's do it."
Kirito led Natsuhi and TenTen to Akahoshi's private medical room.
"Subaru, wait out here," Kirito said. "We'll bring you good news soon."
Subaru nodded, still dazed from the day's events.
Inside the medical room, Kirito gestured to the bed. "Natsuhi, lie down and remove your clothes. I need full access to your body for the procedure."
Both Natsuhi and TenTen froze, staring at him in shock.
"I'm not joking," Kirito said calmly. "TenTen, your job is to hold her down. The procedure will be painful—so painful she might lose control. I need you to keep her still."
After a moment of hesitation, Natsuhi complied, removing her clothes and lying down on the bed. TenTen, now understanding the seriousness of the situation, positioned herself to restrain Xia Ri's limbs.
When Natsuhi's body was fully exposed, TenTen gasped and covered her mouth.
Most of Natsuhi's skin had become rough and bark-like, warped and grotesque from the Star's chakra. It was a horrifying sight, a stark reminder of the cost of power.
"This... this is a miracle she's even alive," TenTen murmured.
Kirito nodded, his hands glowing with green medical chakra. "Her condition is extreme, but it can be reversed. I'll be using a technique similar to Creation Rebirth to regenerate her cells and remove the damage caused by the Star. The process will be excruciating."
Turning to Natsuhi, he added, "You won't bleed, but it will feel like your body is being torn apart. Think about whatever keeps you going—your reason to survive. If it becomes too much, signal me."
"I'm ready," Natsuhi said, her voice steady. "Please... just do it."
As Kirito began the procedure, Natsuhi hummed a quiet tune, her voice trembling but determined:
"Natsuhiboshi Why are you so red?
Because I had a sad dream last night.
My eyes are red from the tears I shed swolling as I cried.
Natsuhiboshi Why've you lost your way, I'm searching for a child who's gone afar. He Can't be found, Though I search all day. My sad dreams comes once more."
The words lingered in the room, a haunting melody against the sound of chakra and pain.
