Chapter 232: Chapter 232: The Plot Against Shisui
Chapter 232: The Plot Against Shisui
Evening.
After finishing his training, Haneda strolled leisurely through the streets of Konoha.
Sensing no surveillance from the shadows, he confirmed that the Third Hokage had chosen to compromise.
Shisui must have reported the events of the clan meeting to the Third Hokage.
He likely concealed Haneda's scathing rebukes of Hiruzen and Danzo, avoiding a complete fallout between the Uchiha and Konoha's leadership.
The most important piece of information Haneda hoped Shisui had shared was his intention to run for the position of Fifth Hokage.
It was obvious that this news had played a significant role in Hiruzen's decision to abandon resistance.
Tomorrow's Jōnin Council meeting was likely to proceed without a hitch.
As for Danzo, another key figure in Konoha, Haneda had already devised a plan to deal with him.
Danzo was the type to resist at all costs, whether or not Haneda ran for Hokage.
In the face of absolute power, Danzo had only one path left: to steal Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan and use Kotoamatsukami to try and control Haneda.
This, however, presented Haneda with an opportunity—a chance to gain the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.
Haneda planned to take Shisui's eyes at the right moment and attempt to merge them with his own using Shinra Banshō to create new ocular powers.
As for Shisui, Haneda fully intended to save him but only at the moment that would yield the greatest benefit.
Moreover, this operation would serve as the catalyst for Itachi's awakening of the Mangekyō Sharingan.
With this plan, when Haneda ascended to the position of Fifth Hokage, Konoha would gain two more Kage-level fighters.
And Itachi would no longer have to shoulder the burden of being a sacrificial pawn for peace.
As the sun set, its warm glow bathed the streets, and Haneda faintly heard the sounds of playful banter.
The voices were familiar—it was Naruto and Sasuke.
Haneda smiled faintly and hid behind the courtyard wall.
At that moment, Sasuke was showing off his shuriken skills to Naruto.
Holding a shuriken between his fingers, Sasuke flicked it toward a tree target.
Without fail, the shuriken hit dead center.
Sasuke struck a cool pose and said smugly,
"This is the unparalleled Uchiha-style shuriken technique of Konoha."
"Even though you're not an Uchiha, being taken in by Uncle Haneda makes you half of one."
"So? Impressive, isn't it?"
Sasuke tilted his head, pretending not to care about Naruto's reaction.
But he was actually watching Naruto out of the corner of his eye, waiting for his praise.
When Naruto finally complimented him, Sasuke's lips curved into a proud smile.
"Naruto, you give it a try. With my guidance, I'm sure you'll do fine."
Handing a shuriken to Naruto, Sasuke encouraged him to take a shot.
Naruto, who had no formal ninja training, hesitated but, spurred on by Sasuke's gaze, gritted his teeth and grabbed the shuriken.
Mimicking Sasuke's movements, Naruto earnestly threw the shuriken at the target.
Predictably, the shuriken missed entirely, curving like a boomerang and heading straight for Sasuke.
"Oh no!"
"Naruto, you idiot!!"
Sasuke scrambled to dodge, but a figure appeared in front of him, effortlessly catching the shuriken.
"Nii-san."
"Shuriken aren't toys, Sasuke," Itachi said, glancing briefly toward where Haneda was hiding.
Haneda responded with a whistle, a subtle signal used among shinobi.
"Nii-san, can you teach Naruto and me how to use shuriken?" Sasuke asked expectantly.
Itachi gently tapped Sasuke's forehead.
"Sorry, Sasuke. Maybe next time."
With that, he walked back into the house, leaving Sasuke stomping in frustration.
"Why don't you teach me, Sasuke?" Naruto said cheerfully.
Sasuke's annoyed expression quickly turned haughty. Crossing his arms, he looked away and said,
"You're such an idiot, Naruto. It'll take forever to teach you."
"Aww, come on! Please?"
"Fine, take this." Sasuke handed Naruto another shuriken and pointed at the target.
"Watch closely."

Inside the House
Haneda sat on the sofa while Itachi sat across from him, visibly tense.
Haneda smiled and teased,
"Three years apart, and now you're acting all formal with me?"
"No, Uncle Haneda, I just—"
Haneda waved a hand, cutting him off. Taking out a mirror, he quipped,
"A few years ago, you called me 'big brother,' and now it's 'uncle.' I'm only seventeen! You're making me feel old."
Seeing Itachi relax a little, Haneda shifted the topic.
"You're worried about Shisui—or rather, about Konoha and the Uchiha's situation, aren't you?
"The truth is, everything is already set in motion.
"Kakashi has arranged support from the Ino-Shika-Chō trio, I secured the Hyūga this afternoon, and the Third Hokage has relented.
"You don't need to carry this burden alone."
Sensing Haneda's sincerity, Itachi hesitated before revealing Shisui's concerns.
"Actually… I'm worried about Shisui. He's afraid you'll kill Danzo the moment you take office."
"Danzo was a friend of Shisui's grandfather. When Shisui graduated, he joined the Root under Danzo's guidance."
Hearing this, Haneda smirked inwardly.
The so-called "naturally evil" Danzo likely wished for nothing more than the Uchiha's annihilation so he could harvest their Sharingan for his experiments.
Even Shisui's grandfather's eyes had been stolen by Danzo.
Haneda highly doubted that the Sharingan Danzo used for Izanagi had been gifted willingly—it was likely obtained through murder.
Haneda said calmly,
"I understand. When you return, tell Shisui that if Danzo agrees to dissolve the Root, I will spare his life."
Pouring water for himself and Itachi, Haneda asked,
"Shisui has already resigned from the Anbu, hasn't he?"
"Yes, he submitted his resignation to the Hokage this morning, and the Hokage didn't stop him."
"Is Fugaku monitoring him now?"
"Yes."
Haneda chuckled, mentally calculating the timeline.
By tonight or early tomorrow, Orochimaru would deliver detailed evidence of Danzo's experiments involving Sharingan transplants.
And with the Jōnin Council meeting marking the Third Hokage's resignation tomorrow, Danzo's time was running out.
Desperate to see Shisui, Danzo would likely send Root operatives into the Uchiha compound to lure him out.
Haneda had already crafted a meticulous plan.
Smiling at Itachi, he said,
"Tonight, Fugaku and the Hyūga Clan Leader will formally request the Jōnin Council meeting from the Third Hokage.
"This meeting is crucial for both the Uchiha and me. The Uchiha compound will be heavily guarded tonight.
"When you visit Shisui, don't stay too long. Return home early to avoid being caught by the Police Force—it wouldn't look good for Fugaku."
"You won't have to worry. The compound's lockdown will be lifted by tomorrow night."
"Understood," Itachi replied, though he found Haneda's hints about the night's heightened security suspicious.
It seemed as though Haneda was deliberately sharing information with him.
