Chapter 4: Reborn
Large ghostly bright light was emitting from within the woods.
The workers from around the large vast woods started coming closer to it after hearing a deathly loud screech, only then did they come to a conclusion that I was caught by some monstrosity from within the trees.
There were fences that held animals out such as deer, black bears, cougars, elks, cayote, raccoon, and bobcats, but at rare times they somehow found a way in animal control workers would help the the wood workers and other scientists.
SCREEEECH—!!
The same sound they heard before echoed through out the woods once again, this time even more loud and painful to the ears.
One of the wood workers glanced at a man who was known to be an animal specialist but the man gulped and gave him a terrified shake of his head meaning he did not know what produced the sound.
"What the hell is that thing?!" A man exclaimed feeling worried.
"Yoru always ventured out towards these parts, what the hell could have gotten him?"
That they did not want to know or even face, but Yoru was there, even if they didn't know him for that long or gotten to know him.
Probably because he didn't like talking much.
He was still a friend that the others looked up to due to the fact that this man was of a higher status than him, pay check wise, and he even helps them with professions he has no idea about.
What's more is that he was rather good with animals no matter the size or the kind of animal it is. One thing they found amusing about him was that he was not good with kids, his skin was slightly pale and he always had a dead serious look, but he was a lady killer though he always had to be saved by one of the workers.
And save it meant get him out of situations he was not comfortable about, he was not a very social person and foreigners or visitors from the city always approached him.
"This man always gets in trouble!" One of the men upfront holding a chopping axe snickered.
***
Meanwhile further away from the group.
Bright light was sharply piercing the gaze of two men.
One was a man with slightly pale skin but due to the burning and hot bright light, made his skin more paler as if eliminating every shadow that dared coming close to his body.
The second was a tall man with messy black as oil and even oily itself, his hair was a mess and his face was distorted, his skin was burning from the white light and his body was starting to turn translucent.
[YOU—!?]
Before he was able to finish his words, the pale white sword twisted into his chest.
The man groaned, he to was pierced by the pale sword, he was the first to be skewered then came after the murderous ghost Infront of him. The more he commanded the sword to twist and turn to inflict pain and suffering to the ghost, he had to share that exact pain at a more extreme rate.
"HA! Keugh... What's wrong bitch!? Cat got your tongue?"
Yoru spat on the ghosts face but the color was crimson red and went through his body.
He was bleeding.
' what an eventful day ' he thought.
He was already accepting his fate of dying, it's still hurt which wasn't surprising.
[So this is the boy who'll take over me?]
A voice.
A man's voice, a voice that sounded sweeter than honey resounded somewhere in the woods. Time felt like it slowed but it still felt as if it was going at a normal pace, the pain he was experiencing and the screams of the ghost were... Muffled?
[Indeed, he will replace you.]
Another new voice resounded and echoed.
A voice.
A woman's voice, a voice otherworldly, a voice so comforting like small bells echoing inside a small chamber, the voice carried a hint of pity and comfort.
' Replace? What did the voice mean by that?'
[Then what about my twin? Though he isn't exactly related to me but still]
[No other conscience will take her place, just this one]
The man's voice fell silent.
Suddenly I snapped back and faced reality, forgetting what I just heard I had to continue what I started.
' C'mon die already you filthy wretch! '
Crunch!
Another howling screech was let out from the spirit, his body was becoming more and more see through by the second.
' But wait... Where'd the crack come from '
As if answering his question a sea of crimson blood started trickling down the point of the sword.
It was his blood.
His vision started to go blurry and darken, he felt his soul fading from his body, that was the purpose of Sacrificial Blade. It was never meant to only end the opponents life but both.
"Hurry up and die already!"
He twisted and pushed the sword deeper into him and the ghost, more blood started to spew out of him and his vision and his entire being was starting to weaken.
But dying first meant that the blade would disappear, he can't let that happen until he knew that the the ugly thing was dead.
' Die! Die! Die! Die! Die! '
***
' Die! Die! Die! Die! Die! '
Meanwhile beyond the mortal plane, two people were watching the stand off were there the entire time.
One was a man in black and white clothing and his face was hidden with a veil.
The other was a woman in a white robe and gold rims the outlined her curves perfectly, she did not bother showing her appearance unlike the man beside her.
She has beautiful pale blue hair, her eyes were that of a fox and the color of it were were bright gold with patterns or runes on it that cannot be deciphered.
"My~ he's very determined to kill the original spirit isn't he?" The voice of the woman was surprised and amused by what the frail human was doing.
The man with a veil scoffed and answered with a growl: "he would be a good warrior or a sorcerer, sadly the fate that lies beyond are not good. That was one of your doings no?"
The woman, scoffed and turned her sights away.
She then walked to a circle of runes at the center just beside where the image of the frail man fighting the spirit is.
Chanting something that no other person could understand, the runes glowed a purple-ish blue color.
"Ahh fate, what a terrible thing. What am I to do? Beg my father? Please, I've longed accepted the harsh doings of Fate"
She sighed and uttered more words into the circle of now bright runes.
The veiled man rolled his eyes and disappeared into the darkness.
Then, she whispered something with a small grin:
" It is not this frail humans duty to oppose the gods, fight demons and tyrants, sure..."
She chuckled and looked back at the scene unfolding.
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . .
. . . . . . .
. . . . . .
. . . . .
. . . .
. . .
. .
.
The spirit is dead, but so is the frail man.
The marked scars on his back though...
Why did it look as if his body was burning?
***
Everything was cold at first.
The sword which impaled both me and the damned spirit, it felt like being encaged in a tomb of ice. But for some reason, everything felt warm for a little.
Then...
It become warmer...
And warmer...
And...
Warmer still...
My body was hot, everything felt hot.
My... Where am I?
He couldn't remember anything at all.
He felt like he was dreaming.
He...
Where was he?
All he knows is that his name was...
"Yoru, yes... That shall be your name."
A voice, soft and gentle...
I'm... Crying...
When he looked up, he saw a weird but comforting sight.
A woman with silky black hair and sharp red eyes that felt as if they could pierce the soul.
She was pale and was sweating, she looked tired and fatigued.
And then, a man with lavish gold hair stood beside his mother...
Mother?
He felt as if this woman cradling him on her arms...
Was her mother.
Why?
He couldn't think at all.
He was supposed to be dead.
Did he...
He was reborn into a different person, yet had the same name.
What a coincidence...
"Wahhh! Wahhhhh!!!"
His body unconsciously cried and he couldn't think.
Wait is she... She's undressing!?!
Panick started to fill his void, he may be someone devoid of emotion to not alarm wandering spirits...
BUT HE STILL HAD HIS MODESTY!
***
The woman watched with a chuckle and sat back on her throne like seat. She then flicked her hand and a new image showed, a man with a half mask of a Kitsune, he just killed two people in a flash...
"... Sigh"
The gaze of that masked man suddenly landed to where her gaze was as well, but she knew that he was just feeling a gaze of someone else.
Far away was a hovercraft flying full speed towards an armored van with people around it.
The kitsune masked man then disappeared without a trace.
"That man..."
She muttered, feeling amused.
"A ghost... That can oppose the gods."
The serene room which she was in started to fade.
Then all that was left was a white void filled with nothingness.
She opened her eyes...
And now she was on a patch of grass surrounded by beautiful flowers of all kinds.
"Are you a ghost? That I do not know."
She stood up and stretched her body, she yawned and summoned a cup of hot tea...
Wherever that came from.
She then looked at a weird thread...
A glowing thread that looked to be made of sand but also looked as if made of everything and also nothing.
"Ahh~ the future appears to be very intriguing. I might have to visit with Miko soon, but that can wait..."
