Necromancer That Comforts The Dead

Little by little my senses came back.

The last one to return was my sight, opening my eyes I gazed upon the sky, vast and blue that had clouds high above.

I was laying down on grass...

Standing up and brushing off my clothes, I looked around and saw a small village far in the distance to my right.

And to my left was a forest...

The forest seemed normal to most people, but to me, it was terrifying and abnormal.

There were dozens of spirits that were at the forest's border, they floated around and interacted with each other. What's abnormal about it is that they all were friendly and there was not a hint of sinister aura that I could detect even from afar.

This is very... Weird?

Turning towards the village, I took my time to get accustomed to gaining my senses back and then walked down the grassy hill and towards the small village.

"The trials are calm but I doubt it'll stay that way for long..."

Somewhere else in a distant land, a young girl with white hair that faded to red stood up from the rocky grounds and looked around her.

There were also other familiar looking people, she recognized them as well.

Classmates.

"Tsk. Bad, they were from class-C. Whatever, it's better than being alone in the trials." She thought to herself and walked towards the two women who were sprawled on the ground and then glanced at the man just a few feet away.

"That one's from Class-B, he might be useful but we still don't know our weapons that were meant to wield." She thought to herself again and turned to look at the two girls.

They still didn't have their senses so they were laying on the ground.

The man then moved, he let out a groan and pushed himself off the rocky ground and suddenly made eye contact with Zhao Lina.

He rubbed his eyes and stood up and walked towards the three women with shaky legs.

He then asked breathlessly:

"Where... Where are we, Ms. Zhao?"

She didn't know either so she shrugged and shook her head.

The two girls then let out a gasp and sat up, their consciousness finally arriving back as they looked at Lina with flustered expressions.

"Sigh. This is going to be a pain." She thought to herself again and stood up, she walked around the rocky grounds and came across a dark forest.

It seemed safe and she could only detect harmless monsters with her advanced spacial awareness, and due to being trained to detect anything's heat.

She glanced back at the two girls and the man, paused, trying to choose her words as to not seem rude and then said, "Hurry up and follow."

The three youths felt a shiver down their spines and obediently followed her into the forest.

' That wasn't rude right? Why do they seem so scared? '

She thought to herself as they walked further in the forest.

Somewhere else in the world of Trials of the South.

A young kid with blonde hair and had beautiful golden eyes the shone bright with the sun.

Wang Zihan stood up from where he was laying and looked around, there were a few familiar faces like those who follow him and his actual friends that aren't just admirers and lackeys.

He swept the surroundings with the corners of his eyes and found that he was somewhere near a large body of water.

"A lake or by the coast? I wonder where Ms. Zhao has gone to..." He said in his mind and walked over to his friends making sure they wake up without any problems.

Slowly they all started to wake up and regain their senses.

"Our groups pretty lucky, we all know each other atleast and aren't complete strangers."

One of Zihan's close friends said, sighing of relief.

They picked themselves up and gathered some wood to start a fire just in case, the admirers were able to surprise Zihan by actually being useful and serious.

Not a lot of people are like them so they earned Zihan's praises which gave them much more confidence.

There were a total of six people in Zihan's current group. Two were his friends and the rest were admirers and people who looked up to him.

"There were around 80 students in our school, they were all put in four classes

A to D, so 16 people in each cave of trials."

The five youths listened to Zihan as he spoke to himself out of habit.

Ah, I spoke to myself out loud again, whatever, I'll just continue...

" The Trial of West and Trial of All were known to be hard and have poor rewards so we're lucky enough to get Trial of South."

He paused and looked at the faces of his friends.

The sun was starting to fall and the distant sounds of waves were calming, except for the trees around them which grew dark and had many animals lurking within.

One of Zihan's friends commented, "Wasn't there a tale about the Deity of the West who took the reawakening trials and ended up into the Trial of West?"

Another youth who wasn't Zihan's friend but is atleast an ally, commented as well:

" West? Wasn't it Trial of All? That's what my grandma told me all the time."

" Why have we suddenly gone to this conversation? Tales about the gods and deities who are dead or lived one or two thousand years ago, the tales and stories about them were twisted with time so there is no point discussing."

Said Zihan's other friend who was known to be knowledgeable and wise. He paused and looked at the sky as the sun was setting...

He then added, sounding bored:

" Besides whether our deity from thousands of years ago took Trial of West or All, he still couldn't keep order of his domain and now he disappeared from the face of the earth."

Clap!

Zihan clapped his hands to divert the attention of his comrades and smiled.

He lit up the fire that they prepared and then added with an amused tone:

" Give our deity a break! What's more important right now is cooperation and teamwork, everyone who was sent into the trials would have woken up with one or a few people. Very rarely you wake up alone, everyone else must have teamed up already!"

" As you all should know, trials like these would normally take 2-3 years, by then we'd all be fourteen or fifteen. And by then we'd already have our weapons and abilities either before or after reawakening, we have to last long and do as much to gain the rewards!"
