Necromancer That Comforts The Dead

Days and weeks finally passed.

The Awakening Ceremony has finally arrived!

Gathered at the school grounds, a bunch of youths ranging from the class A to class F.

There was a big group of students each class and they were currently all lined up in six different places.

Yoru scanned the area without turning his head and his gaze landed specifically on two people, one was in class B and the other was class A...

This schools top figures.

Class A middle-low category, Zhao Lina of the Zhao clan, known for their beauty and intelligence, and women being the most treasured while still being equal to their male peers.

Zhao Lina, elegant white hair that fades to red, pristine skin and blood red eyes that could burn holes in people's souls. Her gaze was cold and indifferent, she had admirers but she seemed to only keep them at arms length.

"Master Zhao, Master Zhao!"

"Could we team up for the Awakening Ceremony!?"

"We'll be the best teammates ever!"

A few others joined in, trying to join Zhao Lina's group for the ceremony.

As for the second person that caught Yoru's eyes was...

"Mr. Wang Zihan! Can I join your group this time?"

"No fair! I already asked months ago to be with him!"

"Now, now. Calm down, I already have people on my team do once we get into the Awakening Trial and meet let's work together okay?"

Blonde hair and gold eyes, he was a bit taller than the rest of the other youths which is surprising since everyone here is at the mere age of twelve.

He had a kind smile and a soft, gentle, and comforting voice. His entire presence radiated that of an angel, attracting everyone around him.

Class A, lower-high category, Wang Zihan of the Wang family clan.

Everyone here was put in several different classrooms depending on their statistics on the entrance exams.

They will test many things about you, like:

Intelligence.

Strength.

Creativity.

Problem solving.

Mentality.

There are others but those are the only few that are important so even if you get a 30 below score, or a zero... You can still pass as long as you have 30 points and above on these subjects.

Remembering my results were amusing to be honest.

I was put on class D, middle-high category.

There were few people who were able to be put in class A and B and less people to be put in or advance to class C high-low category.

What were my scores again?

Intelligence: 75

Strength: 19

Creativity: 45

Problem solving: 29

Mentality: 80

Pitiful really...

My intelligence and mentality were atleast fine due to me already possessing a mind of an adult from back then.

Strength was sad, I was enrolled at 10 years of age so it did not seem fair, however upon seeing those from privileged families the youths atleast passed just below 50.

For my creativity it was rather sad as well... I thought they were gonna ask about sorcery and other things people would expect from a fantasy world.

That wasn't the case however so this also affected my problem solving score, I only had knowledge through books from the school library and the public library outside, the problems were not meant for commoners at all!

Other than Zhao Lina and Wang Zihan, there were other families and sons and daughters of other clans.

These two were the only successors of a prestiged high clan after 5 years after all. And they were both even sent to class A, despite their difference in category, they would still hold equal.

It's definitely weird if I say this but they would definitely grow up to be the star of their clan, with their families help they will grow stronger and good looking.

Yes good looking was a good thing to add.

Those who were their clans successors were said to always grow up pretty and handsome, just right above the normal folk.

"And with the Awakening they'll get upgraded further, they'll definitely make other people envious."

I muttered to myself and then at the same time, someone in charge took the stage and looked down on the youths.

He wore a pristine and elegant tunic that looked expensive, the fabrics just right.

An old face with gray hair and beard, he was the elder of Glimaviel, the previous generation Soul Master who reached his peak at S-Class mage, being able to wield wand and staff and was even able to put in martial arts in his fighting style.

He was basically a legend of all other legends.

"Good afternoon to you all, wonderful youths!"

The whole crowd of youths immediately fell silent, the murmurs and whispers that were loud once grew silent and everyone's attention was all directed towards the Elder.

He smiled and continued:

"The day has come where you will all finally Awaken your true selves, and the power that all of you hold!"

"The trial will either be easy for some of you or even be hard... To be honest there is no such thing as an easy trial, what is the point of a trial if it is easy?"

A few laughs were heard from the crowd, and even the teachers and other masters smiled at their Elders very unamusing joke.

"You will all pick out a random ticket and will go to their respective caves, there, all of you will have a random trial."

A few gasps and surprised murmurs were echoing left and right.

"What!? So we can't join the ones who have more chance of passing?"

"Ah so Zhao Lina might join one of us, it's fine."

" Wang Zihan I hope I can be in the same trials as him!"

Apparently unlike the previous trials where anyone is free to team up and go to whatever cave which has a trial seed inside it.

This Awakening Ceremony will definitely have a fair chance of Soul Masters appearing, the strong ones to.

After a while, everyone formed a line and took out a ticket which will have the name of the cave or just the number on it.

There were five caves that have trials:

Trial of North

Trial of East

Trial of South

Trial of West

Trial of All

The favorite and most picked trials are North and South, while East is just in between.

West was the least favorite due to the rewards being weak and it being incredibly hard.

Aren't we in the West Inner Grid?

Trial of all is much harder but the rewards were to die for, however fifty percent of the time the rewards have drawbacks and had many debuffs to itself or the user.

Which is why, North, East, and South are more favored by the families and even the youths.

But now that they can't pick which cave to choose from, they will be much more nervous because what if the cave they picked was West or All? Even if they passed then their possessions would be useless!

30 minutes have passed

...

I finally got my ticket.

Opening it, I was not disappointed, even if I got the bad trials I'll be good with whatever so it's even better now that I got Trial of South.

Heading towards the master who'll lead us to our caves, I quickly glanced around the groups that I might come across.

"There are a few lower clans and middle clan youths, some commoners like me as well... Oh? How surprising." I thought to myself and then continued walking.

Glancing at the back, my eyes landed on two people.

Wang Zihan and Zhao Lina, they were separated by their admirers so they didn't talk much.

I doubt Ms Zhao is the talkative type.

Taking my place on the line, we waited for a few moments before finally departing.

There were laughter and curious conversations among the groups that were able to pick Trial of South.

"Wang and Zhao are in our batch!"

"We're definitely going to pass, I might as well not do anything!"

"Idiot! The end trial rewards will gift you bonus if you do well."

"Wang Zihan and Zhao Lina are definitely going to get the bonus."

"Well if it's them, it's an obvious guarantee."

Finally after a long minute of walking we arrived to the cave.

The instructor gave us a few speeches and instructions that would surely help us.

Though the few privilege kids and lower clans and above youths didn't pay attention, us common people definitely listened.

" Even if I read through books it is still better to listen to advice that came from someone who went through the same trials." I thought to myself.

However what caught my eye was that Zhao and Wang were listening as well, they were focused and listened to every detail.

Surely they also got knowledge from their families about these things.

Especially because their families were all successful, listening to an instructor of low status couldn't have caught their attention.

" Or are they also thinking the same thing as me? Youths in this world sure are smart."

I caught myself smiling for a bit before putting yo a straight face once more.

But it really is such an amazing thing.

"... And that's all I am able to give you all, good luck in the trials everyone!"

The instructor finally finished giving out all the advices and answering the questions of those who asked.

The youths went deeper into the cave by themselves.

The air grew thin yet we could still breath.

A shimmering light suddenly flashes from ahead the darkness of the cave.

Only then did everything grow dark and the ground on our feet disappeared.

A sensation the felt like flying or falling from a great height caused everyone to let out a gasp or a yelp.

Wang Zihan was laughing joyfully while Zhao Lina kept her eyes closed and arms crossed while the girls and the guys around her were grabbing onto each other.

One by one everyone started disappearing and the senses were being blocked out.

The last was eye sight and hearing.

Everything was quiet and still.

The world changed.

The Trials have started.
