Chapter 28: Chapter 29: I Don't Know
"Commander..." Rapi asked after a moment of silence. "Are you really willing to go this far, to oppose the entire senior leadership of the Ark government just for Marian?"
Green relaxed his sharp gaze, replacing it with a faint, almost imperceptible tenderness. He replied, "Rapi, if the person they want to take away one day is you, I wouldn't hesitate to fight for you either."
Green then smiled, "There's no reason for not to fight for you. No need for any justification for me to lose my friends. As long as I'm your commander, my promises will never change."
"!!!"
After a moment of quiet, Rapi tugged at her beret, turning her slightly moist eyes away from Green.
Surprise, shock, and gratitude—how long had it been since she felt these emotions? It must have been a long time.
As a veteran who had fought countless battles, Rapi's heart had always been cold and dark. Especially after witnessing so many Nikke and human commanders died before her eyes, the feeling of helplessness and coldness was indescribable.
Later, when she joined the special forces, she encountered even more repulsive commanders. These self-proclaimed "commanders" treated her and her comrades like slaves, giving orders from their lofty positions, as if they had no regard for their lives.
She grew weary of that life, until one day, her actions indirectly led to the death of one of those loathed commanders. Afterward, instead of feeling sorrow, Rapi found herself annoyed by the paperwork she had to fill out for the cause of death of the said commander.
She had grown disillusioned, lazy, believing that she could see through all people and things. Rapi had always known that beneath her diligent work facade, her heart was one of indifference, just getting by.
Before meeting Green, she had kept a detached attitude toward everything in the Ark. As long as her life wasn't disturbed, she didn't care.
But today...
She had to admit, a man had entered her heart.
It felt as if a metaphorical iron tree in her chest had been felled. After a long silence, Rapi suddenly reached out, walking behind Green and gently wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Rapi?" Green was little stunned. He was confused as to what caused Rapi to act this way. Afterall, she was known as the indifferent Nikke who was like a robot. However, after some time, he began to feel her emotions.
"Commander, no matter what obstacles lie ahead of you, please march forward courageously." Rapi rubbed her cheek with Green's. "I'll always follow in your footsteps, and fight for you."
"Even if what awaits you is death, are you not afraid?" Green asked her in return.
"Mm."
Rapi's response was gentle but firm.
It moved Green deeply.
He turned around, gently took Rapi's hand, and after a long moment of eye contact, the atmosphere between them became tender and intimate.
Rapi closed her eyes, her lips slightly trembling with moisture, as if hinting at her desires.
Green slowly moved his hands down her arms and rested them on her hips.
"Mm..."
Rapi's soft moan made the atmosphere even more charged and then Green finally kissed her.
He leaned down, lightly kissing her lips. Rapi was a hard nut to crack but he finally had her in his arms. Therefore, he wanted to make this moment memorable. His one hand hugged her waist while the other slipped down slowly before landing on her fine butt.
Rapi doesn't wear any skirt, leaving her bare thighs open. According to her, it was efficient for combat. However, for Green, it was a fight to the nerve. One had no idea how much it took for him to stop himself from rubbing his face between her thighs.
Ahem! Well, it might sound degenerate but Green thought it was just the way any man thinks. Anyway, now, he wanted to enjoy the very asset he admired until now.
Rapi, on the other hand, showed a little surprise but nevertheless, didn't stop Green from enjoying her ASSets.
However, it seems fate didn't want the ultimate romance to begin just yet.
It was at that moment, Anis and Neen suddenly burst through the door to the commander's room.
"Master, this is... ah!"
"Commander, Rapi, you two are so close, what are you doing?"
"!!!"
Green and Rapi, like a flash, ended their kiss.
"Anis, Neen, when did you get back?"
Green quickly pulled his hands away, and Rapi coughed lightly, trying to hide her blushing face as she sat back down on the sofa.
"The atmosphere just now was a bit strange, huh?"
Anis immediately sensed a romantic atmosphere between them, her sharp sixth sense kicking in. "Commander, we just came to grab something that was on the sofa. But what were you and Rapi doing just now?"
"Rapi said her body's sensor had some issues, so I was helping her check it out."
"Really?" Anis turned towards the red flag, looking at her with suspicion, "Rapi, is that true?"
As expected of the leader of the retaliation team, Rapi quickly returned to her usual calm demeanor, her previously flushed face now unreadable.
"Yes. Recently, I've been feeling some issues with my pain sensors, so I asked the Commander to help calibrate them."
"Oh, I see—" Anis nodded, seeming to believe Rapi's explanation.
Green breathed a sigh of relief, but Anis suddenly grabbed Marian by the shoulder and asked loudly, "Marian, you were in the room too, right? Come on, tell me, what were the Commander and Rapi doing just now?"
"Huh??" Marian showed a confused look.
"Didn't hear me? Let me ask again, what were Rapi and the Commander doing just now?"
"I was eating snacks, Anis! I don't know! Do you want some snacks too?"
With her mouth full of chip crumbs, Marian waved a nearly empty snack bag and gave Anis an innocent smile.
