Omniscience in Marvel

Chapter 142: Omniscience in Marvel 138

The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the cozy living room where David and his wife, Meredith, were enjoying a quiet moment together.

Meredith hummed softly as she moved around the kitchen, preparing a light lunch while David leaned back on the couch, a contented smile playing on his lips.

The warmth of domestic life had settled over him like a comfortable blanket, a rare feeling for someone who had spent eons alone.

"Everything smells wonderful, Mer," David called out, his voice filled with genuine affection.

"Thank you, sweetheart," Meredith replied, her voice as bright as the sun outside. She turned to him with a smile, wiping her hands on a dish towel. "It's your favorite today. Just the way you like it."

David chuckled, the sound deep and warm, as he watched her with fond eyes. This simple, human life was something he had come to cherish more than he had ever expected.

The love and warmth Meredith brought into his existence was unlike anything he had experienced before. It made the vastness of his past feel distant, almost insignificant.

Just as he was about to get up and help her set the table, a sudden knock echoed through the house.

David frowned slightly, his brows furrowing in confusion. "Are we expecting someone?" he asked, turning his gaze to Meredith.

Meredith paused, her hand hovering over the counter, before shaking her head slowly. "No… I wasn't expecting anyone today," she said, a trace of unease in her voice.

David shrugged, brushing off the initial tension. "Maybe it's just a passerby," he said, standing up from the couch. He made his way to the door, his step were unhurried although his curiosity was piqued.

There weren't many people who knew about this place, and fewer still who could come unannounced due to the guards he'd set up.

Reaching the door, David took a moment to smooth down his shirt, adopting the casual, easygoing demeanor he had perfected over the years. He then opened the door, his face breaking into a warm, welcoming smile, even as a flicker of curiosity lingered in his eyes.

Ego smiled warmly, but there was a flicker of curiosity in his eyes, "Well now, this is an unexpected visit. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

Leucadius smiled back, his disposition friendly. "I thought it was time we had a little chat, Mr. David Hasselhoff. Or should I say…," he replied, his voice smooth and composed, "Ego."

Ego's smile didn't falter, but there was a slight shift in his expression, a flicker of recognition that settled behind his eyes. He studied Leucadius for a moment, his mind working quickly to piece together the identity of this unexpected guest.

"And here I was, thinking I'd gone unnoticed in this quiet corner of the universe," Ego responded, his tone light but with an underlying seriousness. He opened the door wider, gesturing for Leucadius to step inside. "Please, come in. I must admit, I'm intrigued."

Leucadius stepped into the house, his eyes sweeping the living room with mild interest. It was a modest, almost quaint setting, so different from the grandeur and expansiveness that Ego should be known for.

Leucadius couldn't help but admire how well Ego had integrated into human life.

"Thank you," Leucadius said, his voice still carrying that polite, disarming tone. He took a moment to appreciate the surroundings before focusing his attention back on Ego. "You've done well to create such a peaceful life here, Ego."

Ego nodded, a hint of pride in his eyes. "It is but a matter of course," he said as he glanced back towards Meredith, who was now watching them from the kitchen, her curiosity mirroring Ego's.

Meredith stepped forward with a soft smile. "Can I get you something to drink, Mr…?"

"Leucadius," he replied smoothly, offering a slight bow of respect. "And no, thank you, ma'am. I won't impose on your hospitality for long."

Meredith nodded and retreated back to the kitchen, leaving the two men alone in the living room.

Ego motioned to the couch, and they both sat down, facing each other. The air between them was calm, but the air smelt as though a single misalignment could lead to a clash.

"What brings you to my doorstep, Leucadius?" Ego asked, leaning back comfortably, though his eyes never left his guest. "It's rare for someone to seek me out without an agenda."

Leucadius's smile softened into something more serious, though his demeanor remained friendly. "I reckon it's rare for anyone to even seek you out in the first place."

Ego frowned slightly but eased up and asked. "What is that supposed to mean?"

"Exactly as you understand it." Leucadius shrugged. "Your understanding and mine would vary, of course."

"I will ask again." Ego said and straightened up on the sofa. "What brings you to my doorstep?"

"You should be aware of the Credit system used by the Kree and Xander as a means of exchange right?" Leucadius asked as he pulled out a black card from his breat pocket and placed it on the table. "This is Omnipotence City's Platinum Card. With it, you can purchase whatever you wish in this corner of the universe and not have to worry about the cost."

"Omnipotence City… I have heard of it. A supposedly mystical city of Gods, created by the Goddess of Magic…" Ego intoned lightly as he observed the card. "What do I have to do in exchange for this?"

"It's very simple really, immediately vacate the planet at your earliest convenience." Leucadius said as politely as he could with his patterned smile plastered on his face.

"..."

"..."

The two beings of Divine origin stared at eachother for a few seconds with none of them averting their gaze as though a contest of composure.

"On who's orders..?"

"Hmm?"

"On whose orders are you asking this of me?"

"Why does that matter? I've shown you proof of my affiliation. Isn't that enough for you to understand your situation?" Leucadius asked as he shot a glance at the card before returning his gaze to Ego.

"It seems you have no idea whose presence you are in? How dare those motley crew of lesser lifeforms treat me so disrespectfully by sending a messenger to order me out of a planet I deigned to grace with my Presence." Ego bellowed in mild rage as he glared at Leucadius who didn't bat an eye to his ferocious gaze and focused on creating a pocket dimension where he transferred Ego and himself into.

"I didn't come here to fight really…" Leucadius said with a tired sigh as he picked back the card. "My wife would be expecting a son too, he'd probably be a few months younger than your son. They'd probably be friends if Fate wills it."

Placing the card back into his pocket, his calm and friendly smile fell. "Know your place, you damn parasite." Leucadius's eyes narrowed as he leaned forward, his aura pouring out and clashing with Ego's in a storm of Cosmic power that rattled through the pocket dimension.

The very air around them seemed to crackle with energy as the two beings sized each other up, neither willing to back down.

"Parasite?" Ego repeated, his voice now cold.

Devoid of the earlier politeness, Leucadius continued. "I think you misunderstand the situation, Ego. You're not the first Celestial I've encountered, and you won't be the last. I've walked among gods and titans, seen galactic empires rise and fall. You, with all your grandeur and self-importance, are but a speck in the grand design."

Ego's eyes burned with fury, his form begining to shift and expand as he drew upon his true power. The pocket dimension trembled, the walls of reality warping under the pressure of his might. "You dare speak to me this way? I am Ego the Living Planet! My consciousness spans galaxies! My creations are endless! I am a god among gods!"

Leucadius remained unfazed to this, his expression cool and calculating.

Size manipulation wasn't something to be proud about as a being of Energy. Ego was a Celestial and was only a Tier weaker than Gaea and Oshtur, beings of Chaos.

"A god among gods, you say? But even gods have their limits. You claim to be above the lesser beings, yet here you are, playing house, pretending to be one of them. What is it, Ego? Have you grown so lonely that you've decided to lower yourself to their level? Or is it that even you, with all your power, fear the emptiness of true solitude?"

Ego's form flickered, momentarily thrown off balance by Leucadius's words. The truth of his loneliness, buried deep beneath layers of pride and arrogance, struck a chord he hadn't expected.

His fury faltered, replaced by a growing realization of the emptiness that had driven him to create life after life, only to destroy it when it failed to fill the void within him.

Leucadius didn't relent, pressing his advantage. "You are powerful, Ego, but power without purpose is meaningless. You've spent eons searching for something, anything, to make you feel whole, but all you've done is isolate yourself further."

"Your attempts to create the perfect being, to become the sole consciousness in the universe—do you truly believe that will bring you the fulfillment you seek? Or will it just leave you as the last lonely god in a dead universe?"

Ego's fury subsided, replaced by a cold, hard anger. He wasn't used to being questioned, to having his motives laid bare by another.

He had always been the one in control, the one who dictated the terms. But now, here was this being, this Leucadius, challenging him in a way no one else had dared.

"Who are you?" Ego asked.

"Now you're asking?" Leucadius asked with a prideful smirk. "Nonetheless, open your eyes and bear witness."

"In the void between stars where light itself dared not treat. I stand as the architect of cosmic power. Behold, the sphere of creation," Leucadius said and opened the palm of his right hand as an orb formed on it. "a cradle infinite potential. From my grasp, worlds are born and in my wake, they are undone."

As Leucadius spoke, the pocket dimension surrounding them began to respond to his words, the very fabric of reality bending and shifting under the weight of his words.

Word Magic.

This was a magic system created by Leucadius to channel power through his words.

The once calm and tranquil space was now a maelstrom of cosmic energy, swirling and pulsating with unimaginable force. In the skies above them, Stars were born and died in an instant, galaxies spiraled into existence only to collapse upon themselves, and nebulas of every color imaginable swirled around them, painting the sky with the raw essence of creation.

Leucadius continued, his voice growing darker. "In this moment, you are not merely in the presence of a force but the very essence of the Cosmos itself. Kneel before the hand that shapes the universe, for here in this eternal moment, there is no salvation - only the boundless expanse of my Will."

The ground beneath them, if it could even be called that, was a shifting mass of energy and matter, constantly forming and reforming as it struggled to contain the immense power emanating from Leucadius.

The air itself crackled with energy, each breath heavy with the weight of countless worlds.

Above them, a massive sphere of light materialized, radiating a brilliance that was both blinding and awe-inspiring. It was the Sphere of Creation, a manifestation of Leucadius's will, pulsating with the raw potential.

The pocket dimension responded in kind, its very existence trembling as if it were alive, recognizing the presence of its master. The swirling energies converged around Leucadius, forming a protective barrier that crackled with untamed power.

Within this barrier, the chaos of the dimension was held at bay, the forces of creation and destruction bending to his will.

"Domain Expansion: Celestial Forge: Hand of God

Ego, despite his immense power, was dwarfed by the sheer magnitude of what he was witnessing.

His form, which had once expanded with cosmic might, now seemed small and insignificant in comparison to the vastness of Leucadius's Hand.

It was as though he was standing in the palm of his hand, completely at his mercy.

The rage and pride that had fueled him moments before were now replaced by a mix of awe and fear.

The energy of the pocket dimension surged and roared, a symphony of creation and destruction that played in perfect harmony with Leucadius's words.

Ego, still reeling from the overwhelming display of power, found himself frozen in place. His own energy, once so potent, now paled in comparison to the cosmic force before him.

The realization struck him with brutal clarity: Leucadius was no mere messenger, no simple god.

He was a being of such immense power that even a Celestial like himself was reduced to such insignificance in his presence.

The stars around them flickered and dimmed, as if bowing to Leucadius's will. The galaxies that had once danced so freely now stilled, awaiting his next command.

The very essence of the dimension seemed to hold its breath, the boundless energy now focused solely on the being who had summoned it.

Ego, for the first time in countless eons, felt a true and palpable fear.

The arrogance that had once defined him crumbled under the weight of Leucadius's power. His mind raced, searching for a way to assert his dominance, but every thought was drowned out by the undeniable truth before him: Leucadius was not just powerful; he was power incarnate.

As the final echoes of Leucadius's proclamation faded into the vastness of the pocket dimension, the silence that followed was deafening.

The once chaotic swirl of cosmic forces now stilled, awaiting the next word from the being who held the universe itself in his grasp.

In that moment, Ego knew, beyond any doubt, that he was in the presence of something far greater than himself—a force that could reshape the very fabric of existence with but a thought.

And in that realization, the spark of defiance that had driven him for so long was extinguished, replaced by a deep and abiding dread.

"Now…can we have a civilized conversation?"
