Chapter 140: Valley of the Gods (Dividing the Loot)
The Mirror-Mirror Fruit is an incredibly powerful Devil Fruit with a wide range of uses.
"It will be a huge help when I form my own pirate crew in the future," Charlotte thought.
After examining the fruit, Charlotte carefully placed it among the treasure so that it wouldn't attract attention.
As for the other green Devil Fruit, he wasn't sure what it was. He planned to check the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia when he returned.
Why didn't Charlotte already know all the Devil Fruits by heart? That was impossible—there were thousands of them, and memorizing them all wasn't practical. He only remembered a handful, mostly Logia types.
By now, Charlotte had found three Devil Fruits. While he could only identify one of them, he was still satisfied.
Charlotte noticed that Charlotte Linlin was smiling as she dug through the ruins. From her expression, it was obvious she had found something valuable as well.
"Could it be that the Devil Fruits used by her future Sweet Commanders were obtained here?" he wondered.
Despite his curiosity, Charlotte couldn't act rashly. Any attempt to seize her findings would backfire.
As Charlotte, Linlin, and Kaido continued digging through the ruins, the battle between Rocks and Garp and Roger raged on.
"Why?! You're a pirate! How could you team up with the Navy? If you help me defeat them, the entire world will be ours!" Rocks roared, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.
He couldn't comprehend why a fellow pirate would join forces with the Navy against him. What infuriated him even more was the betrayal of his own cadres at such a critical moment.
"Your existence only brings chaos to the world. The New World needs stability!" Roger replied seriously.
Roger, too, was in bad shape. His body was battered, his clothes were torn, and bruises covered him. The only thing that remained intact was the straw hat on his head.
"Wahahaha! Stability? You're a pirate trying to maintain order? What kind of joke is this?" Rocks laughed maniacally, attacking Roger with renewed ferocity.
Roger could only defend himself, leaving an opening for Garp.
"Fist Bone Impact!"
Garp's fist, wrapped in Armament and Conqueror's Haki, struck Rocks hard, forcing him back several steps.
Whitebeard and Golden Lion arrived just in time to witness the scene.
Whitebeard's expression remained unreadable, but Shiki's face lit up with a gleeful grin.
"If the two of us join forces, we might really be able to take down Rocks," Shiki thought.
Rocks noticed their arrival and saw that their clothing was relatively clean, indicating they hadn't been in any serious fights.
"You too… Have you betrayed me?" Rocks growled, his voice laced with fury.
Whitebeard lowered his head, unable to meet Rocks' gaze, while Shiki laughed brazenly.
"Hahahaha! Of course! Betrayal is betrayal. I've wanted to leave the Rocks Pirates for a long time, but you kept getting in my way!" Shiki declared shamelessly.
"Damn it!" Rocks roared, venting his boundless rage on Roger and Garp. His overwhelming aura bore down on them, forcing them into defensive positions.
The sheer pressure from Rocks even made Shiki shudder. For the first time, he realized just how terrifying Rocks could be when enraged.
"Thank goodness I didn't face him alone," Shiki thought, grateful for the distraction Roger and Garp provided.
Shiki turned his attention to Charlotte and Linlin, who were digging through the ruins. His eyes immediately caught sight of the treasure chests surrounding them.
"Treasure! Leave some for me!" Shiki shouted, floating over with his Float-Float Fruit ability.
The sight of over a dozen treasure chests made Shiki's eyes gleam with greed. He desperately needed funds to build his pirate fleet, acquire ships, and recruit crew members.
Activating his fruit powers, Shiki lifted the surrounding ruins into the air, revealing even more treasure chests hidden beneath.
"Damn it!"
"Asshole!"
Charlotte and Linlin cursed simultaneously. After hours of searching, they had only uncovered a dozen chests, but Shiki's single move had revealed over twenty more.
"Hahahaha! Don't mind if I do!" Shiki sneered, pulling the treasure chests toward him.
"We're not letting you have them!" Linlin roared, unleashing her attack.
"Elbaf Spear: Weiguo!"
"Demon Sword: Tyrant Slash!"
"Airquake!" Whitebeard, who had been watching from a distance, joined in, delivering a devastating punch.
"Lion's Thousand Slice Valley!" Shiki retaliated, swinging his twin blades to unleash dozens of flying slashes.
The clash of attacks created a massive shockwave, sending Shiki flying backward and scattering ten of the treasure chests.
Those chests landed near Whitebeard, who calmly placed them under his feet.
"Damn it!" Shiki growled, his expression dark.
The four of them stood in a tense standoff.
"Fine," Shiki finally said, lowering the remaining sixteen chests to the ground. It was clear to him that monopolizing the treasure was impossible.
After Shiki's interference, most of the treasure hidden in the ruins had been uncovered. Charlotte and Linlin, too, stopped digging, each standing protectively over their haul.
It was clear that the next challenge wouldn't be finding the treasure—but deciding how to divide it.
