One Piece: Rising to Power as a Warlord of the Sea

Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Rapid Expansion! Five Thousand Followers

Half a month had passed since the deal with Doflamingo, and during this time, the Smile Pirates, led by core members like Enel, Gin, and Kumo, rapidly conquered islands across nearly a thousand nautical miles.

They took control of sixteen pirate crews, most of whom had bounties around 100 million Berries. New recruits continued to join, providing a steady workforce for the island-building project. The newcomers were put to work, with their tasks framed as "physical training exercises."

The construction of Smile Island, located beneath the Jewel Pavilion, was nearing completion, thanks to the relentless efforts of everyone involved. The island now boasted various areas: a trading district, an auction zone, a sightseeing area, and an arena, all breathing new life into the island.

At this moment, everyone felt an unparalleled sense of satisfaction, knowing that every brick and stone had been laid with their own sweat and hard work.

During this time, Little Ryuji also went on a feeding spree, devouring large quantities of ocean fish and sea kings, growing at an incredible rate. Now about fifty meters long, though not as large as a sea king, its strength was undeniable. It could control water, produce terrifyingly corrosive venom that could melt anything, and even swallow land to transform it into poisonous gas swamps. It had maxed out its abilities.

"Boss, now our Smile Pirates are a big pirate crew with five thousand members!" Kumo exclaimed excitedly in the meeting room of Jewel Pavilion. He relished the feeling of being admired and respected by over a thousand people.

"Expanding the crew is good, but with more people, more things come up. Aside from the newly joined external pirate crews, we need our own elite troops. From now on, I'll appoint captains for the Smile Pirates. The captains will be assigned by the order they boarded the ship, with no special exceptions. Kumo will be the captain of the First Division, Kene and Shiro will be her deputies. Gin will lead the Second Division, Karina the Third, Enel the Fourth, Hiro the Fifth, Noriyuki the Sixth, and Eirin the Seventh. You'll each form your own 200-person elite teams, and you can expand the numbers as you see fit."

"Yoohoo, I'm the captain now! Kekekeke, First Division Captain!" Kumo said, casting a sly glance at Enel, his meaning clear.

"Hmph!" Enel rolled his eyes at Kumo, unwilling to respond.

The Smile Pirates' rapid expansion had caught the attention of the Four Emperors of the New World, particularly Big Mom's crew, as the Smile Pirates' territory now bordered hers, with only two or three islands between them.

At Cake Island, in the castle, Big Mom, who was enjoying a meal, frowned even more as she listened to her eldest son's report.

"Ma-ma, Ma-ma, Smile Pirates? Monkey D. Natsu? What is that kid trying to do? Doesn't he know this is my territory?!"

"Ma-ma, should we send someone to warn him?" her eldest son, Charlotte Perospero, asked, holding his giant candy cane.

"Mm, let Cracker handle it," Big Mom replied indifferently while continuing to eat.

"I think sending Cracker alone is too dangerous. The latest news says the Beast Pirates' Flame Calamity failed to ambush the Smile Pirates," said Katakuri, walking over from the side, adding his thoughts.

"Huh? Flame Calamity failed?" Big Mom was surprised. She believed that Flame Calamity's strength was formidable, and most importantly, his race was rare. Big Mom had long hoped to acquire the bloodline of this species to fulfill her vision of the Nation of Totto Land. Unfortunately, due to Kaido's interference, she had been unsuccessful.

"Yes, Ma-ma. If we want to contact the Smile Pirates, we need to send enough troops. From what we've gathered, these young pirates are full of ambition, and without sufficient force, it'll be hard to make them back down!" Katakuri explained. Since Natsu set sail, every action he took had caused a stir, and the reputation of the Four Emperors no longer seemed to hold the same weight.

"Perospero, you handle it!" Big Mom decided after a moment of contemplation, passing the responsibility to her eldest son. After all, with so many children, it was time for them to pull their weight.

"Yes, Ma-ma! I'll take care of it!" Perospero replied respectfully. If one Cracker wasn't enough, he would send more of his brothers and sisters. He didn't believe Big Mom's crew couldn't intimidate a mere former Warlord of the Sea.

At the World Government, in the Admiral's office, Sengoku set down his teacup, his brows furrowed as he processed the latest intelligence from the Navy. He felt a bit restless. Ever since Natsu set sail, the relatively stable New World had been thrown into turmoil once again.

"Understood. You can leave now," Sengoku waved, signaling for the intelligence officer to exit. He leaned back, crossing his arms under his chin, deep in thought.

"Tsuru, what do you think about this?" Sengoku asked, turning his head to look at Vice Admiral Tsuru, who was sitting on the couch.

"Using the Warlord of the Sea status to rapidly carve out territory in the New World... According to reports, over five thousand people have joined the Smile Pirates. Not only that, but they've also made contact with that extreme Doflamingo!" Tsuru replied.

"Now their territory even borders Big Mom's! What is that kid thinking?!"

"I really don't understand how Garp raised his grandson. If it weren't for his status as a hero of the Navy, the World Government would have captured him long ago!" Sengoku's voice grew angry. Just as he was about to storm off, Garp, wearing a grin, entered the room.

"Hahaha! Raise my grandson? I'm not good at that! Sengoku, want to have a cup of tea with me?" Garp chuckled, unfazed.

"Get lost, you old fool. Just seeing you makes me angry. Do you even know how much work your grandson is causing us?!" Sengoku shouted, getting up and nearly spitting in Garp's face.

"Tch, boring. Fine, I won't drink. Tsuru, come, come, try some tea!" Garp completely ignored Sengoku and cheerfully poured tea for Tsuru.

"Garp, be serious! Your grandson has been causing too much trouble lately, and now he's even taking up the Warlord of the Sea position!" Tsuru scolded sternly.

Thinking back to when Pirate King Roger was executed, Garp had never truly settled down and was always causing chaos across the seas.

"Hmm~"

Garp suddenly put his hand over his mouth, signaling for silence. After all, he knew better not to upset a woman when she was angry.

"Sengoku, just keep an eye on the situation! Anyway, one of the Warlord of the Sea positions is vacant. We should gather them all and have a meeting. I'd like to meet Garp's grandson," Tsuru said thoughtfully after a pause.
