Chapter 3
Chapter 3 – Slaughtering Noobs
—–CROW—–
After a good night’s sleep, it was already around 2 PM.
In the Tower of Trials, there’s no mom to wake you up for breakfast, so I slept without realizing how much time had passed.
As soon as I opened my eyes, I opened the open community and the chat channel. The (1/1) next to the Tower of Trials #2661 chat window remained the same.
I thought another challenger might come in after a day, but it meant that I was still alone in this tower.
That’s good. It means I can monopolize the resources for longer.
Yesterday, I was very anxious about having to clear the 100 floors alone, but looking back, it was a very foolish thought.
Eventually, other challengers will come in besides me. I can just wait until there are more challengers and clear it slowly.
It’s a shame that I can’t ride a Ranker bus, but being able to monopolize resources early on like this is a huge advantage.
Even the other challengers in the open community were surprised by my growth rate of reaching level 8 in just one day.
I thought my life would be turned around if I just became a low-rank Hunter, but if things continue like this, I might be able to easily become a high-rank Hunter.
Of course, to do that, I need to be diligent while I can maintain my monopoly.
-Clank!
I manipulated my inventory, equipped the armor set I bought yesterday, and left the inn with energetic steps.
**
The field where horned rabbits spawn is usually a place that people graduate from at level 3, or at the latest, level 5.
It’s said that there’s not much to gain from catching horned rabbits at higher levels.
Of course, that’s for newbies climbing other towers that have already been squeezed dry, and I’m already level 8 even though I only cleared the field area quests.
Anyway, I’m graduating from the field area too, and it’s finally time to enter the labyrinth area, the real hunting ground.
The labyrinth is a place that must be passed through to climb this Tower of Trials, and it can be said to be a kind of main content dungeon.
There are powerful monsters that can’t be seen outside, dangerous traps, and boss rooms that are the gateway to the next floor.
Above all, treasure chests where you can get rare items are hidden here and there.
These treasure chests are also finite resources, so they are very rare to see in other Towers of Trials that were conquered long ago… but that has nothing to do with me.
Books of job change that allow you to change to rare classes, unique items that only appear once per tower.
All kinds of treasures whose value cannot be easily estimated are waiting for me.
[Challenger, the Tower of Trials is calling you.]
I passed the NPC at the entrance of the labyrinth and entered, and the surrounding air turned eerie, and a message indicating entry appeared.
The minimap attached to the interface turned completely black with the words [Exploration Progress 0%].
In the labyrinth area, only the parts that have been directly explored are displayed on the map. So it seems that the 1st generation Hunters were busy running around each floor to fill the progress.
But now that the strategies for all 100 floors have been neatly organized, you can see the maps created by the challengers with a single ‘click’ in the open community.
And, of course, this complete map includes the locations of all the traps and treasures that have been discovered so far.
Of course, the locations of treasures that have already been exhausted long ago are not shown, but you can easily find that out with a few searches.
From now on, I will loot every treasure chest in this labyrinth.
**
The first treasure chest is not far from the entrance.
The contents of the box are said to be a few types of potions and simple material items, but they are not things that a 2nd-day newbie can easily obtain.
Especially since potions that are directly related to life are said to be never enough no matter how much you have, so I can’t ignore them.
Besides, the treasure chest near the entrance will surely be looted quickly if another challenger comes in, so I need to eat it in advance while no one is there yet.
As I was slowly moving forward while looking at the map, something popped out, waiting for me after the treasure chest.
-Kereuk!
A child-sized monster with pointed ears, green skin, and a very large nose.
It was a goblin, the most common and weakest monster that can be found in the 1st-floor labyrinth area.
Treasure chests are treasure chests, but I was also waiting for monsters to appear.
Why? Because I wanted to properly test the power of level 8 against a monster other than a horned rabbit.
-Swish.
I drew the [Steel Straight Sword] I bought from the store. Now my weapon is no longer a wooden sword.
Actually, what I really wanted to test was not the power of level 8, but this sword. It looked so cool that I wanted to use it quickly.
Holding the cool-looking longsword, I ran vigorously towards the chattering goblin.
“Hyaaah!”
-Thud!
I didn’t know how to use a sword, and I didn’t have any skills yet, so it was more like chopping with an ax than slashing.
The vigorously swung sword pierced the goblin’s collarbone deeply with a red effect. I was a little surprised that it went in so smoothly.
-Keeeek…
The deep blow was a fatal blow, and the goblin fell and turned into light without being able to do anything.
The red effect from before must have been a critical hit. It’s a system where you deal additional damage when you hit a vital point.
But even if it was a critical hit, it was a one-hit kill, so the power of levels and items is amazing.
“Kyah… this is it.”
How should I put it, the feeling in my hand is no joke. Honestly, I was worried about whether I could fight well.
The thrill of defeating a disgusting monster in one blow was more exhilarating than I thought. Adrenaline? Endorphins? It felt like those were pumping.
I saw a manga before where they said that overwhelming strength is boring, but how can this be boring?
“Alright, time for explosive leveling.”
I moved forward, obtained the treasure chest I was aiming for, and immediately hunted the three goblins I encountered.
I had to deal with three at once, but the goblins’ club attacks were blocked by my armor and barely reduced my HP.
At most 1 or 2 damage, and with the protection of the system, it felt like being hit by a cotton ball.
“Hyaaah!”
It was a complete slaughter of noobs. I felt the thrill of overwhelming strength and roamed the labyrinth all day.
**
The first labyrinth exploration was successfully completed.
I alone ate 6 medium treasure chests, which other challengers would be lucky to get even one of.
The number of goblins I defeated along the way was also considerable, so my level rose rapidly, and when I sold the loot at the store, I collected an enormous amount of gold.
On the first day, I already collected as much gold as other newbies would get in ten days of grinding, but today, the amount was on a different level.
In addition, I obtained an absurd amount of materials for equipment enhancement. It was enough to require about two weeks of hunting and quests.
How amazing this is will be explained by the ghosts of the open community, not me.

[Title: Day 2 Tower of Trials Newbie Earnings, Rate?]
(Photo)
Title says it all.
– Day 2 my ass, more like 2 months.
– This guy was the one who baited people by saying he was a day 1 newbie yesterday.
– What the fuck, day 2? Did you use hacks?
– Are you really treating this like a game…
– This is just flexing. You got support from connections and you’re calling this earnings? Earnings are what you earn yourself.
– But the author’s server is 2661, who would support him?
– Which country’s server is 2661? It’s not Korea.
The ghosts of the community are reacting fiercely to my attention-grabbing post, and the corners of my mouth are rising on their own.
They seem to think that I’m a Korean living abroad because of my server tag #2661, but I wonder when they’ll realize the truth.
This monopoly won’t last forever, but until then, I’m going to enjoy it to the fullest.
“Kyah, this is great.”
I rented the inn I used yesterday again, threw myself on the spacious bed, and continued to browse the community.
It’s not just to kill time like yesterday, but because there’s something I need to find out.
[I’ll summarize the types of classes in the Tower of Trials]
I found and opened a post by a certain Ranker who was staying in the tower aiming to become a high-rank Hunter.
Challengers of the Tower of Trials can choose a class at level 10, change jobs, and learn skills.
Like warrior, archer, thief, etc. that often appear in RPG games. The way you fight changes greatly depending on which class you choose.
– Seo Jinhyuk Lv.14 (Jobless)
I, who reached level 14 today, have already met all the requirements for a normal class change.
But I can’t just change to any class. I’ll have to form a party with other challengers who come in later.
Or, I could aim for a unique or epic class and remain jobless.
“Hmm… I don’t know.”
I **agonized** over it, but even as the dawn approached, the answer didn’t easily come.
In the end, I decided to postpone my job change until another challenger came in or until I got stuck, and went to sleep late.
[Tower of Trials #2661 (1/1)]
And, the next day, no other challenger came in.
