Chapter 254: Ron got a howler and Hermione celebrates

On the other hand Ron started to argue back to Hermione and Ginny that he did not do anything wrong.

Hermione did not want to argue to him anymore and she is waiting for the great letter from Ron's mother tomorrow.

That is what she is looking forward to.

She is going to use this to control Ron in the future.

Well he has high inferiority complex.

Also he is very shy and don't like to lose his face in front of others.

The more she did it the more she wanted to have fun.

Unfortunately this year she cannot just go around and mess with the things at Hogwarts.

She cannot easily slip out of Hogwarts at night because there is a chance of getting caught by basilisk.

Well it will not come out before the chamber of secrets is opened.

Based on the information she has the chamber of secrets would be open around 8th of September.

Before that she has to do what she wanted to do.

Also during this time Ginny would lose control of her body to Tom riddle.

Hermione slept happily that night expecting a good show in the morning next day.

The next day, Ron receives a Howler from his mother during breakfast in the Great Hall.

Hermione and others are present and Hermione looked forward to this very much.

"Ronald Weasley! How dare you steal that car?

I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd expelled you. 

You wait till I get hold of you.

I don't suppose you stopped to think what your father and I went through when we saw it was gone.

We got the letter from Dumbledore last night, I thought your father would die of shame, we didn't bring you up to behave like this, you and harry could both have died.

Absolutely disgusted, 

Your father's facing an inquiry at work.

It's entirely your fault. 

If you put another toe out of line we'll bring you straight back home.

Oh, and Ginny dear, congratulations on making Gryffindor. 

Your father and I are so proud…."

Mrs. Weasley's yells, a hundred times louder than usual, made the plates and spoons rattle on the table, and echoed deafeningly off the stone walls. 

People throughout the hall were swiveling around to see who had received the Howler, and Ron sank so low in his chair that only his crimson forehead could be seen.

Hermione was so happy that she is literally jumping in her heart.

In the future she has to make a complete recording of molly's howling and scolding of Ron so that she can use it to make Ron frightened.

Then, Minerva McGonagall hands out timetables and the first class is Herbology with the Hufflepuff students instead of Slytherin. 

In the class, Professor Sprout teaches how to transplant Mandrake seedlings, which have restorative properties when mature. 

Whenever unearthed, the root screamed. 

The scream of a mature Mandrake when it was unearthed was powerful enough to break glass and would kill any person who hears it, but a young Mandrake's screams would usually only knock a person out for several hours. 

They stopped screaming once they were replanted in the soil. 

When Hogwarts students studied Mandrakes in Herbology class, Professor Pomona Sprout had her students wear earmuffs to protect their ears from the Mandrake's cries.

Neville that is as clumsy as a klutz did not put his earmuffs properly and was knocked out in the original plot.

But this time Hermione helped him put the earmuffs so that he was not knocked out.

The next class is Transfiguration, where Ron has problems with his broken wand, even when he repaired it with some Spellotape.

Later, they have their first lesson with Gilderoy Lockhart, appointed as the new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher.

In their first Defense against the Dark Arts class as second years, Harry and his classmates are tested on minutiae about their new professor. 

Many students do poorly on this quiz focused on details from Lockhart's books, but Hermione answers every question correctly. 

Many students are not taking Lockhart seriously by the time he dramatically introduces the pixies with implications that they are terrifying and vile. 

However, the Cornish pixies do prove to be a nuisance. 

They break windows, make a mess, and hoist Neville up by the ears and hang him from a chandelier. 

When class is over, Lockhart tasks Harry, Ron, and Hermione with rounding up the pixies.

His way of teaching is a complete disaster. 

Much to Harry's chagrin, he receives constant attention from Lockhart and Colin Creevey, a first year student. 

Well he did not show much attention towards a stunner like Hermione that actually shocked her.

Both constantly interact with him on the base of his fame.

Colin treats Harry as a celebrity and Lockhart hopes to actually bring him to that state.

On September 8th Hermione was hiding in the common room during the night.

She is actually observing the movements of Ginny.

But she is not obvious as she borrowed Harry's invisibility cloak at that time to play for a few days.

Tom riddle is not a normal person.

This kind of psychopaths will have strong vigilance and a sense that can locate the people that are looking at him.

So she did not dare to reduce her vigilance.

She put on the invisibility cloak along with the mask to cover her identity to make people forget about her immediately.
