Pokemon: Ace's Adventures!

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: The Celadon Gym Challenge!

The early morning sunlight bathed Celadon City in a warm, golden glow as Ace and the girls navigated the bustling streets. After a quick stop at the Pokémon Center to heal their team and a hearty breakfast, the group stood before the towering structure of the Celadon Gym. Its exterior was adorned with vibrant flowers and vines, a testament to the Grass-type specialty inside.

Ace adjusted his jacket, taking a deep breath as he stared at the entrance.

May looked up at the gym with awe. "It's beautiful! I've read so much about this place."

"Same here," Serena added, brushing a stray hair behind her ear. "But today isn't about sightseeing."

Dawn smiled and nudged Ace. "Don't choke under pressure, Ace. We're all watching you."

Ace smirked, rolling his shoulders. "Don't worry, Dawn. I've got this. Let's go."

They stepped inside, greeted by the faint scent of flowers and the soothing hum of nature. The walls were decorated with lush greenery, and sunlight filtered through the glass ceiling, giving the gym a greenhouse-like atmosphere.

The group approached the front desk, where an attendant greeted them with a warm smile. "Welcome to the Celadon Gym! Are you here for a gym battle or one of our perfume-making classes?"

Ace stepped forward confidently. "I'm here for the gym battle."

Serena quickly chimed in. "We're with him, just here to watch."

The attendant nodded, typing something on her computer. "Understood. Challenger, please head through the door on the right to the waiting room. Your match will begin shortly." She gestured to a side door with a small sign reading Challengers Only.

She turned to the girls. "Spectators can access the stands through the door on the left. From there, you'll have a clear view of the battlefield."

May, Dawn, and Serena smiled at Ace. "Good luck, Ace!" May said, giving him a thumbs-up.

"You've got this!" Dawn added with a grin.

Serena nodded, her voice calm but encouraging. "We believe in you. Show them what you're made of."

Ace gave them a small, confident smile. "Thanks, guys. I'll see you after the battle."

The group parted ways as Ace entered the waiting room. The girls headed toward the stands, chatting about their excitement for the upcoming match.

Ace stepped into the waiting room, the door clicking shut behind him. The room was simple, with a bench, a water dispenser, and a monitor displaying the battlefield. He sat down, his heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and determination.

'Alright. This is just another step toward the Pokémon League, i have got this.' Ace thought, clenching the moon stone pendent around his neck.

The Celadon Gym's battlefield was a lush, grassy arena surrounded by vines and blooming flowers. The scent of herbs filled the air, mingling with the soft chatter of the spectators.

In the stands, May, Serena, and Dawn settled into their seats. They noticed a surprising number of women present, all murmuring with excitement.

"Wow, there are so many people here," May said, her eyes wide as she looked around.

Serena nodded, scanning the crowd. "It looks like most of them are Erika's students."

Dawn leaned forward slightly. "I heard Erika teaches her students about perfumes, herbs, and botany. I guess it's not just about battling for her."

The girls watched as the referee stepped forward, clearing his throat. "Attention, everyone! The battle is about to begin!"

The large doors at opposite ends of the arena creaked open. From one side, Ace stepped onto the field, his blue eyes sharp and focused. His white hair swayed slightly in the gentle breeze, giving him an air of quiet confidence.

From the other side, Erika entered gracefully, wearing a yellow kimono adorned with intricate flower patterns. Her long braid swayed behind her as she walked to her position. She carried an air of calm elegance, her gentle smile putting the crowd at ease.

Erika stopped at her side of the field and bowed politely. "Welcome, Ace Drago. I accept your challenge. Show me the strength and heart of your Pokémon."

Ace nodded firmly. "I'll give it everything I've got."

The referee stepped forward, holding two flags. "This will be a four-on-four battle between Gym Leader Erika and challenger Ace Drago from Vermilion City. Only the challenger is permitted to switch Pokémon during the match."

The crowd fell silent as the referee looked between the two trainers. "Now, send out your first Pokémon!"

Erika's smile widened as she gently tossed a Pokéball into the air. "Let's start things off, Vileplume!"

The ball opened in her hands, releasing a burst of light. A Vileplume appeared, its large, vibrant petals releasing a faint, sweet scent that wafted across the battlefield. The Pokémon stood confidently, its beady eyes fixed on Ace.

Ace pulled a Pokéball from his belt, his gaze unwavering. "Alright, let's do this! Dratini, you're up!"

He threw the ball, and in a flash of light, Dratini emerged. The dragon coiled gracefully, its smooth scales shimmering under the sunlight. It flicked its tail and let out a determined cry, ready to face its opponent.

The referee raised his flags, his voice booming across the arena. "Let the battle begin!"

"Dratini, use Twister!" Ace shouted as the battle roared to life.

Dratini opened its mouth, summoning a swirling vortex of dragonic energy that raced toward Vileplume with tremendous force. Erika, calm and composed, responded swiftly.

"Vileplume, counter it with Moonblast!"

A radiant orb of pink energy began to form above Vileplume's head, glowing brighter by the second. With a loud hum, it fired the Moonblast directly into the incoming Twister. The two attacks collided midair, erupting in a spectacular explosion of energy.

Smoke and dust filled the battlefield, momentarily obscuring both Pokémon. Erika's eyes scanned the field, her serene expression giving way to a hint of surprise. "Vileplume, get away—quickly!"

But it was too late. From the dust emerged Dratini, slithering with incredible speed. It wrapped its body tightly around Vileplume, locking it in a powerful Wrap attack.

"Good job, Dratini!" Ace shouted as Vileplume struggled, grimacing from the constriction.

Erika's tone grew firmer. "Vileplume, use Petal Blizzard now!"

Ace countered immediately. "Dratini, use Supersonic!"

Vileplume summoned a swirling storm of sharp petals, preparing to unleash them on Dratini. But before it could, Dratini emitted a glowing ball of light from its mouth, striking Vileplume. The attack took hold, leaving the Grass-type Pokémon confused. Its petals scattered chaotically, missing Dratini entirely.

"Great work, Dratini!" Ace called out. "Now release it and use Dragon Breath!"

Dratini uncoiled itself, retreating briefly before exhaling a blast of green, fiery energy. The attack struck Vileplume squarely, eliciting a pained cry as Erika called out, "Vileplume!"

Regaining its composure, Erika commanded decisively, "Vileplume, use Dazzling Gleam!"

A blinding wave of Fairy energy erupted from Vileplume, aiming straight for Dratini.

Ace panicked. "Dratini, Twister! Use it as a shield!"

Dratini quickly generated another Twister, its swirling winds clashing with the Dazzling Gleam. The two attacks neutralized each other, leaving the battlefield momentarily still.

Erika seized the moment. "Sunny Day!"

A glowing orb resembling the sun appeared above the field, bathing it in a warm, golden light. Ace's jaw tightened. 'She's setting up for Solar Beam. I need to finish this quickly.'

"Dratini, use Draco Meteor!" Ace commanded, surprising Erika and the spectators alike.

"Draco Meteor?" Erika murmured, her calm demeanor cracking slightly.

Dratini summoned a massive dragonic sphere of energy high into the sky. The ball ascended rapidly before splitting into countless meteorites that rained down across the battlefield.

"Vileplume, Solar Beam!" Erika shouted, determined not to give in.

Under the intensified sunlight, Vileplume charged and fired a blinding beam of concentrated solar energy straight at Dratini.

"Dratini, push through with Dragon Rush!" Ace bellowed.

Dratini roared, enveloping itself in a radiant blue aura as it hurtled toward Vileplume. The Solar Beam struck Dratini mid-flight, slowing its advance, but the determined dragon pushed forward, roaring louder with each inch gained.

The falling meteors from Draco Meteor bombarded the battlefield, striking Vileplume and causing it to falter. Its Solar Beam weakened, and Dratini broke through, colliding with Vileplume in a devastating explosion of energy.

The arena was shrouded in a thick cloud of dust and debris. Erika shielded her eyes, calling out, "Vileplume!"

Ace stood firm, his heart pounding. "Come on, Dratini! You've got this!"

As the dust cleared, Dratini stood proudly atop the fainted Vileplume, its body injuried from taking the sunny day solar beam head on, but was relatively fine.

The referee raised his flag. "Vileplume is unable to battle! The winner is Dratini!"

Cheers erupted from the crowd, even among Erika's loyal students, who couldn't help but admire the intense match.

Erika smiled warmly as she recalled Vileplume to its Pokéball. "You fought beautifully. Thank you for your hard work."

On the battlefield, Ace approached Dratini, kneeling down to pat its head. "You were amazing out there. Thank you, Dratini." He returned it to its Pokéball, giving it a moment to rest.

The referee's voice boomed again. "The challenger has returned his Pokémon. Both trainers, please send out your next Pokémon!"

Erika pulled out another Pokéball, her gentle smile returning. "Let's continue. Victreebel, I choose you!"

In a flash of light, a Victreebel appeared, its large, toothy mouth letting out a shrill cry. It swayed slightly, its leaves sharp and glistening.

Ace grabbed his next Pokéball, determination blazing in his eyes. "Alright, Nidorino, it's your turn!"

The Poison-type Pokémon emerged, stomping its feet and lowering its horn as it faced Victreebel, ready for the next round.

The referee raised his flags. "Begin!"

Erika took the initiative as she raised her hand confidently. "Victreebel, use Solar Beam!"

Ace's heart raced. 'Sunny Day is still active; that Solar Beam will charge instantly!' He quickly shouted, "Nidorino, use Disable!"

Victreebel's glowing aura flickered and faded as the Solar Beam was canceled mid-charge. Erika's calm expression turned into a grimace, while Ace exhaled in relief.

"Good job, Nidorino! Now, use Toxic Spikes!"

Nidorino stomped the ground, preparing to scatter the poisonous spikes across the battlefield. Erika, however, wasn't ready to let the strategy unfold.

"Victreebel, use Leaf Tornado to stop the Toxic Spikes!"

Victreebel spun rapidly, summoning a swirling vortex of sharp leaves that intercepted the Toxic Spikes. The Leaf Tornado didn't just neutralize the spikes but also carried them toward Nidorino.

The Poison Pokémon cried out in pain as the toxic spikes laced in the tornado struck its body, leaving it poisoned.

"Nidorino!" Ace shouted, panic in his voice. 'Damn, that backfired! I've got to turn this around!'

"Nidorino, use Confusion!"

Despite the effects of the poison, Nidorino roared, focusing its psychic energy. Pink waves of energy enveloped Victreebel, making it cry out in pain and struggle to maintain balance.

Erika frowned but maintained her composure. "Victreebel, use Vine Whip to close the distance, then follow up with Leaf Blade!"

Victreebel shot two vines into the ground, using them like grappling hooks to launch itself toward Nidorino.

"Nidorino, block it with Horn Attack!" Ace shouted.

Nidorino's glowing white horn clashed with Victreebel's sharpened, glowing leaves. Sparks flew as the two attacks collided.

"Now's your chance, Nidorino! Use Toxic!"

"Victreebel, retreat!" Erika called, but it was too late.

Nidorino unleashed a burst of poisonous energy, infecting Victreebel. Both Pokémon now struggled as the poison began to take its toll.

"Victreebel, hang in there!" Erika encouraged. "Use Giga Impact!"

Ace's eyes widened in disbelief. "It knows Giga Impact?!"

Victreebel covered itself in a white, glowing aura, launching itself at Nidorino with incredible speed.

"Quick, Nidorino! Use Venoshock!"

Purple lightning crackled around Nidorino's horn before shooting toward Victreebel. The attack struck Victreebel mid-charge, causing it to shriek in pain, but it pressed on, slamming into Nidorino with the full force of Giga Impact.

The battlefield erupted in another explosion. Both Pokémon were thrown back, struggling to rise.

"Nidorino!" Ace called out as his Pokémon roared weakly, its horn sparking with remnants of Venoshock energy.

Victreebel also twitched, struggling against the combined effects of its injuries and poison. Suddenly a black aura appeared and disappeared around it, meaning that disable was over and Victreebel could use solar beam again.

"Sunny Day's almost over," Erika noted, glancing at the artificial sun in the sky. "Victreebel, use Solar Beam! Give it your all!"

"Venoshock, full power!" Ace shouted.

Victreebel and Nidorino launched their respective attacks. A blinding beam of green light collided with a storm of purple lightning, shaking the ground with a massive explosion.

When the dust cleared, both Pokémon lay motionless on the ground.

The referee raised both flags. "Both Pokémon are unable to battle! This round is a draw!"

Ace sighed, recalling Nidorino. "You did great, buddy. Rest up."

Erika smiled softly as she returned Victreebel. "Thank you for your hard work, Victreebel."

The referee gestured to both trainers. "Please send out your next Pokémon!"

Erika reached for her third Pokéball. "Exeggutor, it's your turn!"

A large Exeggutor appeared on the field, its multiple heads swaying slightly as it let out a deep cry.

Ace's expression turned serious. 'First Vileplume, then Victreebel, and now Exeggutor? Erika's team is much stronger than I expected. What's her last Pokémon?'

He reached for his Pokéball. "Alright, Fearow, you're up!"

Fearow materialized with a loud screech, spreading its wings wide as it stared down Exeggutor.

The referee raised his flags again. "Begin!"

Erika wasted no time as she pointed at Fearow. "Exeggutor, use Psychic!"

Ace, already expecting this, smirked. "Fearow, Mirror Move!"

Fearow's eyes glowed as it mirrored the Psychic attack. The two energy waves clashed in the air, creating a ripple of force that shook the battlefield.

"Now, Fearow, use Uproar!"

Fearow unleashed a piercing screech, creating three powerful sound waves that circled Exeggutor. The Grass/Psychic Pokémon flinched as the sound waves battered it, one after another.

Erika clenched her fists slightly but kept her composure. "Exeggutor, use Protect!"

A shimmering green barrier surrounded Exeggutor, absorbing the first sound wave. Erika quickly ordered, "Hold it and use Protect again!"

Ace's eyes narrowed. 'If that Protect fails…'

Fortunately for Erika, the Protect held, shielding Exeggutor from the remaining two waves.

Ace took advantage of the pause. "Fearow, use Work Up! Twice!"

Fearow's body glowed as it focused its energy, boosting its attack and special attack.

Erika smirked. "Exeggutor, use Ancient Power!"

Exeggutor's eyes glowed, summoning several glowing stones that shot toward Fearow.

"Fearow, destroy them with Drill Peck!" Ace commanded.

Fearow's beak spun like a drill as it gracefully maneuvered through the air, shattering the stones one by one.

But Erika wasn't done. "Exeggutor, use Skill Swap!"

Ace's eyes widened. "Skill Swap?!"

Exeggutor's eyes shimmered as it swapped abilities with Fearow. Erika chuckled. "Now Fearow has Harvest, while Exeggutor enjoys Sniper."

Ace groaned. "Great, just great…"

Erika capitalized on the moment. "Exeggutor, use Trick Room!"

A dazzling distortion enveloped the field as the Trick Room reversed the speed dynamics.

Ace gritted his teeth. 'She's pulling out every Psychic move that exeggutor can learn one after another. What is this, Sabrina 2.0?'

Erika wasn't done yet. "Grassy Terrain!"

The battlefield glowed green as lush grass began to grow, restoring Exeggutor's health.

"Fearow, use Aerial Ace!" Ace commanded.

Fearow swooped down, slamming into Exeggutor with enhanced strength from the two Work Ups. Exeggutor cried out, the damage cutting through its recovery.

Erika, however, remained calm. "Exeggutor, Stomping Tantrum!"

Ace's heart raced as Exeggutor prepared its ground-shaking attack. "Fearow, Fly! Now!"

Fearow soared into the air, gripping Exeggutor with its claws before carrying it high above the battlefield.

Erika's smile didn't waver, which unsettled Ace. 'What's she planning?'

Fearow roared as it dived, slamming Exeggutor into the ground with a thunderous impact. The referee raised his flag. "Exeggutor is unable to battle! Fearow wins!"

The crowd erupted into cheers, but Erika simply smiled as she returned Exeggutor.

Ace narrowed his eyes. 'She's way too calm. Was this all part of her strategy? She used skill swap to make sure Fearow doesn't critically hit her so she can set the moves up? Just what is her final Pokemon?'

The referee turned to Erika. "Gym Leader Erika, please send out your final Pokémon."

Erika held up her last Pokéball, her calm demeanor replaced by a confident smirk. "Alright, time to finish this." She tossed the Pokéball, and with a burst of light, her final Pokémon appeared.

Ace's jaw dropped as a massive Venusaur stood on the field. It was already intimidating, but the giant stone helmet adorning its head made Ace's heart sink.

"That's a Mega Stone…" Ace muttered in disbelief.

Erika chuckled, seeing his expression. "Impressed? You should be."

The referee raised his flags once more. "The final round begins now!"

Erika looked at Ace with a calm but confident smile. "Judging by your expression, I can tell you know about Mega Evolution," she said, her voice gentle yet commanding.

Ace's grim face confirmed her suspicion, making her smile widen. In the stands, Serena gasped. "Mega Evolution?!" she exclaimed, drawing Dawn and May's attention.

"What's Mega Evolution?" Dawn asked, clutching Piplup tighter.

Serena explained quickly, her tone worried. "It's a special evolution that temporarily makes Pokémon incredibly powerful during battle. It's way beyond a normal evolution."

May's eyes widened in realization. "That's why Ace looks so tense. If that Venusaur can Mega Evolve…"

The three girls exchanged nervous glances, their concern for Ace growing.

Back on the battlefield, Erika brushed her braid over her shoulder, revealing a delicate flower pin with a shimmering keystone at its center. She raised her voice, her words resonating with confidence. "Let our bond bloom into a magnificent flower. Venusaur, Mega Evolve!"

The keystone on her flower pin and the Mega Stone on Venusaur's helmet gleamed brightly. Yellow lightning crackled and connected the two, creating a dazzling light.

Venusaur's body was enveloped in a radiant glow as its form shifted. When the light faded, Mega Venusaur stood tall, its bulkier frame and more menacing demeanor exuding immense power.

Ace clenched his fists, feeling the pressure. "Fearow, use Uproar!" he shouted, trying to take advantage of the opening.

But Erika's smile remained serene. "Trick Room is still active. Venusaur, use Vine Whip!"

Vines shot out from Mega Venusaur at lightning speed, binding Fearow before it could react. The massive bird screeched as it was slammed mercilessly into the ground.

"Fearow, Tri Attack!" Ace called out desperately.

Fearow managed to release a beam of fire, ice, and electricity, but Erika quickly countered. "Seed Bomb!"

A large seed hurled from Venusaur collided with the Tri Attack, neutralizing it in a burst of energy. The vines tightened their grip on Fearow, drawing a pained scream from the Pokémon.

Ace gritted his teeth, determination flaring in his eyes. "Fearow, use Aerial Ace and cut through those vines!"

Fearow's body shimmered with flying-type energy as it slashed through the vines, breaking free and darting toward Venusaur. The attack landed cleanly, but Mega Venusaur barely budged, letting out a low grunt.

"Now, Toxic," Erika commanded calmly.

Mega Venusaur released a poisonous mist that enveloped Fearow, badly poisoning it.

Ace panicked. "Quick Attack! Get some distance!"

But Venusaur's vines shot out again, binding Fearow once more. Erika didn't miss a beat. "Venoshock."

Purple lightning coursed through the vines, striking Fearow and eliciting a heartbreaking scream. The bird Pokémon went limp, its energy completely spent.

The referee raised a flag. "Fearow is unable to battle!"

Ace returned Fearow with a pained expression. "You did your best, buddy," he murmured, trying to stay focused.

The crowd erupted in cheers for Erika, while Serena, Dawn, and May watched anxiously.

"That Venusaur took Fearow down so easily," Serena muttered, her voice shaking.

Dawn held Piplup tightly. "What can Ace do now?"

May's gaze hardened. "I didn't think Mega Evolution could make a Pokémon this strong."

Ace steeled his resolve and sent out Dratini. "It's your turn now!"

The referee signaled for the match to resume.

"Dratini, Draco Meteor!" Ace commanded, wasting no time.

"Vine Whip," Erika said calmly.

Vines shot out to stop Dratini, but the tiny dragon managed to launch the massive dragonic sphere into the air. As the Draco Meteor rained down, Venusaur took the hits head-on, roaring in defiance.

Even as it absorbed the powerful attacks, Venusaur lashed out with its vines, repeatedly slamming Dratini into the ground. Dratini cried out in pain before falling limp, unable to continue.

The referee raised his flag again. "Dratini is unable to battle!"

Ace returned Dratini, his expression grim as the audience cheered loudly for Erika. His three friends in the stands could only watch in despair.

"I can't believe Dratini didn't stand a chance," Serena said, her hands gripping the railing tightly.

Ace drew his next Pokéball, a flicker of determination returning to his eyes. "We're not done yet. Smeargle, let's show them what we can do!"

Smeargle leapt onto the field, barking confidently despite the overwhelming power radiating from Mega Venusaur.

Ace clenched his fists and pointed forward. "This is our last shot. Let's win this, Smeargle!"

The referee signaled for the final round to begin.

Erika smirked, confident in her Venusaur's power, as she pointed forward. "Vine Whip!" she commanded. Massive vines erupted from Mega Venusaur, lashing toward Smeargle at incredible speed.

Ace, unshaken, yelled, "Smeargle, use Cut, Night Slash, and Iron Tail! Start Overdrive Mode!"

Smeargle's body glowed as two ethereal sabers—one shimmering with the light of Cut and the other crackling with the dark energy of Night Slash—manifested in its paws. Its metallic tail shone with the gleam of Iron Tail. With a burst of agility, Smeargle dashed forward, slicing through the incoming vines with precision. It lunged at Mega Venusaur, striking a decisive combination of attacks. The dual sabers slashed across Venusaur's thick body, followed by a crushing blow to its head with Iron Tail.

Mega Venusaur roared in pain, though it stood firm, its immense bulk barely moving. Erika's eyes widened in shock. "Three moves at once?! Unbelievable!"

Before she could react, the shimmering aura of Trick Room faded, returning the battle to normal speed dynamics. Erika sighed but quickly countered, "Venusaur, Petal Dance!"

Bright, glowing petals swirled around Mega Venusaur, forming a vortex of energy that shot toward Smeargle.

Ace smirked. "Smeargle, counter with Gust and Flamethrower!"

Smeargle whipped up a fierce wind with its tail, channeling a stream of flames into the gust, creating a blazing tornado that collided with the Petal Dance. The moves neutralized each other in a fiery explosion.

"Now, use Sketch, Swift, and Quick Attack!" Ace commanded.

Smeargle's tail glowed briefly as it copied the Petal Dance technique. It then darted around Mega Venusaur with incredible speed, its swift movements dodging each attempt by Venusaur to retaliate with its vines. Smeargle unleashed a barrage of shining stars from Swift, pelting Venusaur relentlessly.

"Bulldoze!" Erika shouted.

Mega Venusaur slammed its massive body into the ground, sending shockwaves across the battlefield.

"Smeargle, Fly!" Ace countered.

Defying logic, Smeargle leaped into the air, hovering as if with invisible wings, avoiding the earthquake entirely.

Suddenly, Smeargle let out a howl as a rainbow-colored aura burst forth from its body. Overdrive Mode had fully activated.

In the stands, Serena, Dawn, and May were on their feet. "Overdrive Mode is here!" Serena exclaimed, while Dawn and May cheered for Ace.

The audience gasped, watching as Smeargle's power reached a new peak.

"Smeargle, Stored Power, Flamethrower, and Gust!" Ace shouted.

Smeargle unleashed a swirling rainbow fire tornado that roared across the battlefield. Erika's eyes widened as she yelled, "Venusaur, Frenzy Plant! Block it!"

Massive roots and vines erupted from the ground, forming a shield around Mega Venusaur. The tornado burned through the vines, but the shield held, dissipating the flames.

"Smeargle, Sketch Frenzy Plant! Then use Stored Power!" Ace commanded.

Smeargle's tail glowed as it copied Frenzy Plant. Slamming its paws into the ground, it summoned enormous glowing roots and vines that surged from the earth, hurling Mega Venusaur away.

"Venusaur, Power Whip! Break free!" Erika yelled in desperation.

Mega Venusaur lashed out with its vines, but Ace wasn't done. "Smeargle, Fly and Acrobatics!"

Smeargle darted through the air, dodging the vines with ease. However, one managed to strike it, sending Smeargle crashing into the ground.

"Earthquake!" Erika shouted.

The ground rumbled violently as rocks and debris flew everywhere. Ace clenched his fists and yelled loudly as adrenaline courses through his veins, "Smeargle, we can't lose! Use Stored Power Frenzy Plant and set it ablaze!"

Unbeknownst to Ace, his eyes began to glow, flickering with 18 colors—a brilliant rainbow of light. Smeargle's opened its eyes, which mirrored Ace's, radiating the same multicolored brilliance.

Smeargle howled as it slammed its paws into the ground, summoning colossal, fiery vines and roots. These massive structures wrapped around Mega Venusaur, lifting it high into the air. The rainbow flames intensified, engulfing Venusaur in a blazing inferno.

Erika screamed, "Venusaur!" as her Pokémon roared in agony.

"Finish it, Smeargle! Stored Power!" Ace roared, his voice echoing through the arena.

Smeargle unleashed a massive rainbow beam of energy that tore through the gym, blasting a gaping hole in the ceiling. The sheer force of the attack sent winds ripping through the arena, causing everyone to shield their faces. Erika was forced to the ground, while the referee clung to his stand for dear life.

When the light and dust settled, the battlefield was in ruins. The ceiling had a giant circular hole, and Mega Venusaur lay motionless on the ground, its mega form reverting to normal. Smeargle stood shakily in the center, panting heavily but victorious.

The referee, still trembling, raised his flag. "Mega Venusaur is unable to battle! The winner is Smeargle, and the match goes to Ace Drago!"

The crowd was silent, too stunned to cheer. Then, without warning, Smeargle collapsed, its body giving out from the strain.

"Smeargle!" Ace cried out, rushing forward—but his own body betrayed him. His legs gave out, and he fell to the ground, unconscious.

The sudden turn of events broke the audience's stupor. Erika rushed toward Ace, calling his name in concern, while the referee hurried to his side. In the stands, Serena, Dawn, and May screamed, their voices filled with panic.

"Ace!"
