Pokemon: Ace's Adventures!

Chapter 43: Chapter 43:Ace's Team Power's Up!

It had been a full day since Ace woke up in the hospital after his surreal encounter with Arceus. The memory of that divine conversation lingered in his mind, making him feel both empowered and uneasy. However, his thoughts had been interrupted by the girls earlier that morning, who had shown up with stern expressions, ready to give him a piece of their mind.

"I can't tell you how close I was to have a heart attack!" May had exclaimed, arms crossed and eyes blazing with concern.

"You had us worried sick, Ace!" Dawn chimed in, her voice slightly softer but no less accusing.

Even Serena, usually the calmest of the trio, had joined in. "You need to take better care of yourself, Ace!"

Ace had scratched the back of his head sheepishly, offering an apologetic grin. "I get it, I get it. I'm sorry for making you all worry. I promise to be more careful next time."

The girls had eventually forgiven him, though not without extracting a promise to take care of himself better in the future. With that resolved, the group had made their way to the Celadon Gym.

When they arrived, Erika was already waiting for them outside, her serene smile lighting up her face. She bowed politely before addressing Ace. "It's good to see you up and about again, Ace."

Ace returned her smile with a grin of his own. "Thanks, Erika. I'm feeling much better now."

Erika nodded and reached into the sleeve of her kimono, producing a glittering Rainbow Badge. "Here, Ace. You've more than earned this. Your battle was impressive."

Ace's grin widened as he accepted the badge, holding it up to admire its vibrant colors. "Thanks, Erika! That makes four now!"

He opened his badge case and carefully placed the Rainbow Badge inside, its colors standing out brightly against the others. Erika then handed him a small TM case.

"This is for you as well," she said. "It contains Giga Drain. I hope it helps you on your journey."

Ace's eyes sparkled as he accepted the TM. "Wow, thank you! This is awesome."

"You're welcome," Erika said warmly. "So, where will you be heading next?"

The mention of their next destination made the group pause to consider. Erika added, "Saffron City is still on lockdown, so I'd advise against heading there for now."

May was the first to speak up. "How about Fuchsia City? I've heard it's really nice, and it's on the way south, where the Safari zone is present as well." Ace nodded thoughtfully, his mind drifting to the Grampa Canyon, where he knew an Aerodactyl awaited him. Catching it had been on his to-do list, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. "Fuchsia sounds good. And on the way, there's a spot I'd like to check out—Grampa Canyon. I've got my eye on something there."

The girls nodded in agreement, trusting Ace's instincts. "Sounds like a plan," Dawn said with a smile.

Before they set off, Ace suggested, "Let's stop by the Mart first. I need to stock up on a few things."

"Good idea," Serena agreed.

The group bid Erika farewell, thanking her once again for the badge and TM as they walked away from the Celadon Gym.

After shopping at the Mart, Ace stood in the Pokémon Center's battlefield with May and Dawn busily setting up a camera, while Serena held a notebook, ready to take notes. The girls moved with a sense of purpose, and Ace couldn't help but sweatdrop as he watched them.

"Is all this really necessary?" Ace muttered under his breath, scratching the back of his head.

The girls glanced at him, May shooting a grin his way. "Of course, it is! We're documenting your progress. This is part of our field study as well, Ace!"

Dawn added, "Yeah, and the evolution of a bunch of Pokemon will be a really nice bonus for us, maybe we will get a raise from our professors."

Ace sighed, resigned to the situation, as he stepped forward and released his Pokémon. Primeape, Nidorino, Scyther, and Clefairy stood before him, each one alert and eager. Smeargle and his other Pokemon sat with the girls, watching the unfolding scene with bated breath, as if they already knew something exciting was about to happen.

Ace turned to his team, his expression serious. "Alright, everyone, we've talked about this. You know what's going down, so let's make the most of it."

His Pokémon nodded, their confidence clear in their body language. Ace then glanced at the box of items he had painstakingly picked up during their shopping trip. The sight made his heart ache.

'Nearly 90% of my credit card balance… gone,' he thought, shaking his head. 'At least I can earn it back battling trainers… probably 200 of them.' The thought did little to comfort him, but he pushed forward nonetheless.

Ace approached Scyther first, holding up a set of TMs. "Alright, Scyther, let's start with you. These are going to take you to the next level."

Scyther tilted its head, its sharp blades twitching in anticipation. Ace carefully gave scyther the TMs for U-turn, Bug Buzz, Lunge, Skitter Smack, and Hard Press. Scyther stood perfectly still as it absorbed the knowledge from the discs, its body glowing faintly as the moves imprinted into its memory, while the TMs disappeared in its body.

Once the process was complete, Ace retrieved a shining Metal Coat from the box. "Alright, buddy, this is where it gets interesting." He handed the item to Scyther, who accepted it without hesitation.

As Scyther gripped the Metal Coat, its body began to shimmer. The metal substance seemed to react with its form, wrapping around it as it merged with Scyther's energy. Ace watched in awe as the transformation began. White light enveloped Scyther's body, the aura of evolution radiating off of it.

Ace's heart raced. He recalled his studies—unlike the games in his previous world, Scyther evolved in this world by learning new moves and immediately being given a Metal Coat. This unique process meant the Pokémon would gain a significant boost in power, making the moment even more monumental.

When the glowing light finally faded, a new form stood before them. Scyther had transformed into Scizor, its sleek, crimson body exuding strength and elegance. Its pincers, marked with eye-like patterns, clicked menacingly as it flexed its new limbs.

Ace couldn't suppress his grin as his other Pokémon cheered and congratulated their teammate. Pulling out his Pokédex, Ace scanned the newly evolved Scizor.

[Name: Scizor, the Pincer Pokémon.

Description: It swings its eye-patterned pincers up to scare its foes. This makes it look like it has three heads.

Gender: Male

Type: Bug/Steel

Ability: Technician

Moves: Agility, Quick Attack, Fury Cutter, Slash, X-Scissor, Wing Attack, Double Team, Swords Dance, Acrobatics, Aerial Ace, U-turn, Bug Buzz, Lunge, Skitter Smack, Hard Press, Metal Claw, Bullet Punch, Iron Head.]

Ace's grin widened as he saw 3 new moves alongside the 5 tm moves. "You've really outdone yourself, Scizor."

Scizor gave a firm nod, the sharp edges of its pincers glinting under the lights. Ace reached out and patted its shoulder, feeling the cold steel beneath his fingers. "Great job, buddy. I'm proud of you."

Satisfied, Ace turned his attention to Clefairy, who was bouncing in place with excitement. "Alright, Clefairy, you're up next."

Ace held up the collection of TMs and crouched down to Clefairy's level. "These moves will make you stronger and even more versatile in battle. You ready?"

Clefairy eagerly nodded, her tiny hands clasped together in excitement. Ace chuckled at her enthusiasm before giving the TMs for Draining Kiss, Dazzling Gleam, Misty Terrain, Misty Explosion, and Alluring Voice to Clefairy as they got absorbed into her body.

As Clefairy absorbed the knowledge from the TMs, her body glowed faintly, a soft pink aura shimmering around her as the new moves imprinted themselves into her mind. She closed her eyes, focusing intently, and when she reopened them, they sparkled with happiness as she mastered all 5 moves.

"Great work, Clefairy," Ace said with a smile, holding out the Moon Stone next. "Now, it's time for the big step. This will take you to the next level, and I know you're ready for it."

Clefairy hesitated for a brief moment, staring at the Moon Stone in Ace's hand. Then, with a confident nod, she reached out and touched it. The moment her fingers brushed the stone, her body began to glow brightly.

Ace and the girls watched in awe as the light enveloped Clefairy, her form shifting and growing. Smeargle leaned forward, barking softly in excitement, while May and Dawn captured the moment on camera. Serena furiously scribbled notes, her face lit with curiosity.

When the light faded, Clefairy had transformed into Clefable. Her new form exuded grace, her wings now fully formed and her frame more elegant. She looked at Ace with a happy smile, calling out her name with a melodic "Clefable~~!"

Ace smiled warmly and stepped closer, gently patting her head. "You look amazing, Clefable. You've come so far, and I'm really proud of you."

Clefable beamed, leaning into Ace's touch. After a moment, Ace pulled out his Pokédex to scan her new form.

[Name: Clefable, the Fairy Pokémon.

Description: A timid fairy Pokémon that is rarely seen. It will run and hide the moment it senses people.

Type: Fairy

Ability: Magic Guard

Gender: Female

Moves: Charm, Copycat, Defense Curl, Disarming Voice, Pound, Sing, Life Dew, Gravity, Metronome, Healing Wish, Heal Pulse, Heal Bell, Water Pulse, Charge Beam, Iron Tail, Facade, Draining Kiss, Dazzling Gleam, Misty Terrain, Misty Explosion, Alluring Voice, Moonblast, Meteor Mash, Moonlight.]

Ace's grin widened as he noted the additions to her move pool. He gave her one last pat before stepping back.

Ace turned his attention to Nidorino, who was already stepping forward, eager for his turn.

Ace stood in front of Nidorino, holding the selection of TMs he had carefully chosen. "Alright, buddy, it's your turn. We've got a lot to cover, but I know you're ready for this."

Nidorino snorted in determination, pawing at the ground as if to say, 'Bring it on!'

Ace gave the TMs for Avalanche, Giga Impact, Strength, Focus Punch, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Smart Strike, and Hyper Beam one by one into his Pokédex. Nidorino absorbed each move, his body faintly glowing with each new ability he learned.

Ace grinned as he watched. 'Nine moves. I'm going all out for him. He's going to be the key player in taking down that Aerodactyl. No way am I leaving anything to chance.'

Once the process was complete, Nidorino looked at Ace, his eyes gleaming with newfound strength. Ace stepped forward, holding out the Moon Stone. "Alright, Nidorino, it's time."

Nidorino stepped forward, touching the Moon Stone with his snout. The moment he made contact, his body was engulfed in an intense white light. The Moon Stone dissolved into his body as the transformation began.

The light grew so bright that everyone instinctively shielded their eyes. Even Ace's other Pokemon had to shield themselves. The battlefield trembled slightly under the energy being released.

When the light finally faded, a towering Nidoking stood in Nidorino's place. He let out an earth-shaking roar that echoed across the Pokémon Center's battlefield, causing Ace, the girls, and their Pokémon to stumble slightly from the sheer force of it.

Ace's grin widened as he looked at the fully-evolved Nidoking. 'My own monster of a Pokémon, Nidoking. Just as I thought—he's on the same level as, if not more gifted than, Ash's Charizard. This is going to be fun.'

Nidoking let out a low grunt before giving Ace a thumbs up, his sharp grin reflecting his confidence. Ace returned the gesture with a smile. "That's what I'm talking about. Welcome to the team, Nidoking."

Smeargle, eager as ever, ran over and climbed onto Nidoking's back, wagging his tail as he congratulated his teammate. Nidoking turned his head and gave Smeargle a thumbs up as well, his earlier ferocity replaced with camaraderie.

Ace chuckled at the sight, pulling out his Pokédex to scan Nidoking.

[Name: Nidoking, the Drill Pokémon.

Description: It uses its powerful tail in battle to smash, constrict, then break the prey's bones. Its steel-like hide adds to its powerful tackle. Its horns are so hard, they can pierce a diamond.

Type: Poison/Ground

Ability: Sheer Force

Gender: Male

Moves: Disable (Egg Move), Toxic, Venom Drench (Egg Move), Fury Attack, Confusion (Egg Move), Poison Tail (Egg Move), Thrash (Egg Move), Amnesia (Egg Move), Double Kick, Toxic Spikes, Dig, Peck, Horn Attack, Poison Jab, Venoshock, Avalanche, Giga Impact, Strength, Focus Punch, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, Smart Strike, Hyper Beam, Megahorn, Sludge Wave, Horn Drill, Head Smash, Earthquake.]

Ace whistled as he read through Nidoking's extensive move set. "That moveset is insane. You're going to be a beast out there, Nidoking."

Nidoking flexed his massive arms, giving a satisfied growl as he stood tall, exuding raw power.

The girls clapped from the sidelines, Serena jotting down notes feverishly. "This is amazing! Nidoking is so intimidating, but he seems to really like you, Ace," Serena said with a smile.

May nodded in agreement, adjusting the camera to capture Nidoking's towering presence. "No kidding. That roar alone could scare most trainers off from fighting Ace."

Ace then turned to Primeape, who had been watching Nidoking's transformation intently. The Fighting Pokémon clenched its fists, bouncing slightly on its feet, eager for its turn.

Ace grinned, stepping closer to Primeape. "Alright, buddy, you're up."

Primeape let out a fierce cry, pounding its chest in anticipation. Smeargle hopped down from Nidoking's back and joined the girls and his other teammates.

Ace handed Primeape the TMs for Poison Jab, Throat Chop, Fling, Giga Impact, and U-turn, watching as the Fighting Pokémon eagerly absorbed the moves. He then knelt to Primeape's level, a smirk on his face. "Alright, big guy, we're going to evolve you first before I give you the rest of the TMs. Sound good?"

Primeape growled in excitement, punching the air to show its readiness.

"Smeargle, I need you," Ace called, and the artistic Pokémon jogged over from the sidelines. Smeargle gave Ace a curious look, holding its tail paintbrush high.

"Here's the plan," Ace said, gesturing between Primeape and Smeargle. "You're going to spar with Primeape. Primeape, I want you to focus on using Rage Fist. No other moves, got it?"

Primeape nodded, clenching its fists tightly while Smeargle gave a determined nod of understanding.

Ace stepped back, giving them space. "Let's go, Primeape! Smeargle, keep dodging and drawing out those Rage Fists!"

The battle began with Primeape charging at Smeargle, shadowy fists forming around its arms as it unleashed its first Rage Fist. Smeargle dodged skillfully, leaping and rolling to avoid the attacks while Primeape grew more agitated.

By the time Primeape launched its tenth Rage Fist, its fury was evident in its wild movements. Ace noticed the change and called out, "Primeape! Stick to Rage Fist!" But Primeape, consumed by its anger, was about to switch to another move.

"Smeargle, Encore!" Ace shouted.

Smeargle's tail glowed as it used Encore, locking Primeape into using Rage Fist. Primeape roared, its shadowy fists growing larger and more erratic with each use. The battlefield trembled under the weight of its anger.

"Come on…" Ace muttered under his breath, his fists clenched as he watched.

By the time Primeape unleashed its twentieth Rage Fist, the entire area seemed to vibrate with ghost type energy as Smeargle barely dodged the giant ghostly fist. Suddenly, Primeape was enveloped in a bright white light.

"It's happening!" Ace exclaimed, grinning widely.

The light intensified, forcing everyone to shield their eyes. When it faded, a new Pokémon stood in Primeape's place. Annihilape stood tall and imposing, its ghostly hair flowing in an ethereal breeze. Its anger had dissipated, replaced by a calm but intimidating presence.

Annihilape flexed its arms, the energy radiating off it palpable. Ace stepped forward, placing a hand on its head. "You did it, buddy. Congratulations."

Annihilape let out a deep growl of approval, and the rest of Ace's Pokémon gathered around to offer their congratulations as well. Even Smeargle climbed onto Annihilape's shoulder, giving it a friendly pat.

Ace pulled out the remaining TMs, holding them up with a smile. "Alright, let's finish what we started. These are for you: Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball, and Phantom Force."

Annihilape absorbed the TMs, its power growing with each new move it learned.

With all his Pokémon gathered together, Ace took a moment to scan Annihilape with his Pokédex.

[Name: Annihilape, Rage Monkey Pokémon.

Description: It imbues its fists with the power of the rage that it kept hidden in its heart. Opponents struck by these imbued fists will be shattered to their core.

Type: Fighting/Ghost

Ability: Inner Focus

Gender: Male

Held item: Black Belt.

Moves: Focus Energy, Scratch, Leer, Low Kick, Counter, Night Slash (Egg Move), Mega Punch, Cross Chop, Seismic Toss, Brick Break, Bulk Up, Rock Tomb, Thunder Punch, Rage Fist, Giga Impact, Poison Jab, Fling, Throat Chop, U-turn, Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball, Phantom Force, Close Combat, Shadow Punch, Outrage, Curse.]

Ace grinned as he reviewed the data. "Your move pool looks solid, Annihilape. And Inner Focus? That's going to be a game-changer."

Annihilape nodded in agreement, giving a powerful flex that made even Nidoking whistle in approval.

Meanwhile, the girls were huddled together, reviewing the footage on their camera. Serena glanced up with a smile. "That was incredible, Ace. You've got a powerhouse team now."

"Yeah," May added, adjusting the camera. "But it looks like you'll need to money after this as 3 million pokedollars were gone just like that."

Dawn smirked. "Or you can just battle every trainer you see like you did in the past two get the 3 million back. I still remember my bet with May in the past where she had better that you will fight against 100 trainers, while I had said 200, but in the end you fought 350 trainers in a week."

Ace chuckled, shaking his head. 'They're not wrong. But with this team, those battles won't stand a chance. But the idea of fighting 350 trainers again is kinda exhausting.'

Ace then distributed the remaining TMs and held items from the box to his team, leaving it almost empty.

Smeargle was given the Leftovers, a held item that would passively heal him during battle.

Annihilape already had the Black Belt and had learned all the TMs Ace bought for him earlier, so he didn't receive anything additional.

Elekid was given the Choice Band, a powerful yet expensive item that Ace was initially shocked to afford. Unlike typical Choice Bands, this one didn't restrict Elekid to a single move but slightly reduced his speed when attacking. Ace also gave Elekid the TMs for Electric Terrain, Supercell Slam, and Trailblaze. The Pokémon absorbed the TMs and learned the moves immediately.

Starmie received the Weakness Policy, which boosts Attack and Special Attack when hit by a super-effective move. Ace also gave Starmie TMs for Ice Beam, Dazzling Gleam, Meteor Beam, Flip Turn, and Expanding Force, which it quickly absorbed to expand its arsenal.

Clefable had already learned all the TMs Ace previously gave her, so she was handed the Toxic Orb. Although the item inflicts poison on its holder, Ace wasn't worried—Clefable's Magic Guard ability nullified damage from status effects. Ace also had plans to synergize the Toxic Orb with Clefable's Facade move.

Nidoking, who had already mastered the TMs given earlier, was entrusted with the Life Orb. Despite the item's usual drawback of draining health for enhanced move power, Ace knew that Nidoking's Sheer Force ability prevented this penalty. Together, Sheer Force and the Life Orb made Nidoking's attacks devastating, with boosted power that could overwhelm even the toughest opponents. Ace grinned mischievously, imagining the trainers he'd face using Nidoking to reclaim his expenditures.

Scizor, like Elekid, was given a Choice Band. Since Scizor had already absorbed all the TMs Ace had given him before, there was nothing further to add to his repertoire for now.

Fearow received the TMs for Return, Tailwind, Steel Wing, and Toxic, which it absorbed. Ace then gave Fearow the Scope Lens, a held item that increased its critical hit ratio, setting it up for a sharp edge in future battles.

Lastly, Dratini was handed TMs for Dragon Cheer, Dragon Dance, and Protect. Once the TMs were absorbed, Ace gave Dratini the Leftovers, just like Smeargle, to provide passive healing during battles.

With the box now empty, Ace saved the remaining items—a Rocky Helmet, a Magmarizer, an Electirizer, and five TMs—for future use. He planned to use the Electirizer to evolve Elekid into Electivire and the Magmarizer for a Magmar he intended to catch at Cinnabar Island to evolve into Magmortar. These additions, along with an Aerodactyl Ace aimed to find in Grandpa Canyon who will get the Rocky helmet, would eventually expand his team to 11 Pokémon. He hadn't yet decided on the final member of his team.

Shaking off those thoughts, Ace decided to scan his Pokémon one by one with his Pokédex while the girls headed off to pack for their upcoming departure from Celadon City. They reminded Ace to return soon, and he nodded in agreement.
