Pokemon: Behold the Father of All Pokemons

Chapter 56: Chapter 54: Pokémon Paradise

GOOD NEWS!!!

The site is back up, and I can start translating and posting the missing chapters.

Another piece of news that might be good or bad depending on how you'll view it is that when I've reached 100 chapters on Patreon (which is not far at all) I'll start only updating 1 chapter for this fanfiction BECAUSE I have to start my main project which is a HxH Fanfic (it goes into other worlds) that I'm sure you'll love once you've read up to 30 chapters (I've already read up to 300 chapters out of 700)

Plus I can't pile too much work on myself, because I have a job IRL (Just came out of high skl) so not much time everyday to translate so many fanfiction, that's why I even started a Patreon to get some money to use it how I feel (Mostly to pay my monthly subscriptions Lol XD)

Ethan left the company with a light heart after saying goodbye to Luke from Nazarick Shipping. The moment he stepped outside, his phone rang. It was Secretary Elijah, and his tone was one of resigned annoyance.

"Ethan, I've almost got the zoo matter taken care of. It's just waiting for you to finish the negotiations."

Ethan smiled into the phone.

"Thank you for handling this, Secretary Elijah. You really are indispensable."

On the other end, Elijah chuckled dryly.

"At this rate, I'm less the mayor's secretary and more your personal secretary. Every time there's a complicated procedure, you pass it on to me!"

Ethan could only apologize. The reason he'd involved Elijah in the first place was precisely because Elijah's identity and connections made the process much smoother. Without his help, the paperwork and regulations would have been a nightmare.

---

About an hour later, Ethan drove to the outskirts of Tarvok City and arrived at the Tarvok Wildlife Park. Covering some sixty hectares, the park had varied terrain - flat plains, forests, and even a large lake.

Despite being only a few hundred yards from a nearby subway station, the park never attracted the crowds that other large city zoos enjoyed. The collection of animals was small, the maintenance costs were high, and the number of visitors dwindled each year. Eventually, the owners decided to transfer management rights altogether.

Ethan had heard from Secretary Elijah that the rough transfer price was several million a year, enough to scare off most potential buyers.

Still, it was within a range Ethan could handle, especially since he had no intention of running it as a standard zoo. Of course, such a drastic change in purpose meant moving the existing animals to other facilities. Normally, that alone would require endless paperwork and time. Thanks to Elijah's influence, however, the process had moved quickly.

When Ethan arrived, he found Elijah already negotiating with the soon to be ex-owner. The talks concluded much more quickly than Ethan had expected. Both sides signed the contracts and the formalities were completed just as the sky took on a reddish glow in the late afternoon.

"Ethan, you have no idea how much time this project of yours has taken," Elijah complained as they walked around the now officially transferred property. "Running back and forth between offices - I still have a stack of my own work waiting."

Ethan grinned.

"Didn't you once say that you wanted Pokémon Biotech to become a unique symbol of Tarvok City? This is part of making that vision a reality."

"Spare me," Elijah muttered, rolling his eyes. "Anyway, it's done. Now you have the management rights, but you better know what you're doing."

Ethan surveyed the area. The land was vast, with a good mix of terrain: rolling plains, lightly wooded hills, and a small lake shimmering in the distance, perfect for his needs.

"It's not great to have so many Pokémon locked up in the lab. Within a week or so of their birth, they'll be mature enough to come here. When they're a few months old, we can find out if they want to go somewhere else. In the meantime, the lab won't be so cramped, and taking care of them outdoors is straightforward - no overly complicated procedures."

He glanced at the old ticket booth near the entrance and added, half-jokingly:

"Maybe I'll even sell tickets. A 'Pokémon Paradise' could attract more visitors than a typical zoo ever could."

Elijah's face visibly twitched.

"Sell tickets? Are you sure about that? The previous owners never recovered their investment."

Ethan just shrugged.

"They ran an ordinary zoo. Pokémon, on the other hand, are completely new. People will be curious, at least for the novelty. And who's to say we won't make other types of Pokémon later on? That'll keep the interest going."

"Well, that's your business, not mine," Elijah said, sounding unconvinced. "Just don't let it distract you from your main biotech work. A zoo, even if you call it a park, is hard to manage. Don't be surprised if it ends up like the last one."

Ethan just chuckled. He could already picture children and families strolling along winding paths, encountering different Pokémon in natural, open habitats - no cages required.

For now, though, the relocation of the original zoo's animals would begin the next day. Those animals would find new homes in a larger facility elsewhere.

---

Over the next two days, vans and trucks arrived to move the original zoo's animals. By the end of this hectic period, the place was nearly empty - except for the staff. Ethan decided not to fire everyone; he kept most of them on board. The park still needed groundskeepers, booth attendants, and janitors, but their future duties would revolve around Pokémon instead of zebras and tigers.

When some employees heard that these "genetic creatures" cost hundreds of thousands of dollars each, rumors spread quickly.

What if they hurt one? Could they be held liable if they accidentally harmed a Pokémon?

Tales of powerful and "deadly" Pokémon caused some to consider quitting. To reassure them, Ethan offered a modest raise and stressed that the work was no more dangerous than caring for ordinary animals-especially since these Pokémon were docile or well-trained. The staff just needed new guidelines.

Still, uncertainty lingered. They'd never managed creatures that could unleash a torrent of water like Squirtle, or generate electricity like Pichu.

To make matters worse, Ethan insisted that they wouldn't keep the Pokémon in cages. The entire park would be semi-open, allowing Pokémon and visitors to mingle, with some reasonable boundaries. Some employees braced themselves for chaos.

Meanwhile, the main entrance was being renovated: the "Tarvok Wildlife Park" sign was removed, though its replacement, "Pokémon Paradise," hadn't yet been fully installed. Workers tore down old enclosures and rusty fixtures, and redesigned walkways. Ticket booths remained closed, confusing vacationers who arrived expecting a normal zoo visit.

"What's going on?" muttered more than one confused tourist, looking at the half-finished sign. "It was open last week!"

But the gates remained locked, a "Closed for Renovation" notice posted. Behind those walls, Ethan walked through empty cages, imagining how the facility might evolve into something more open and welcoming - perhaps a playground, observation decks, places for Pokémon to roam freely...

That night, after a final inspection, his mind buzzed with possibilities. Pokémon Paradise was just a placeholder name for now, but once it opened, the world would see a place unlike any zoo they'd ever visited. If successful, it could herald a future in which genetically engineered Pokémon coexist with humans - not confined or exploited, but treated as companions and sometimes partners.

"We'll see how this goes," Ethan muttered as he stepped outside the park's gates. The wind rustled behind him, stirring the half-removed sign. "It'll be a challenge, but if we do it right, it'll be worth it."

He locked up for the night, turning off the last security light. Tomorrow, the first shipments of Pokémon would arrive from the lab. The staff would meet them in person. And Pokémon Paradise would take its first real steps toward becoming the living environment Ethan had envisioned.
