Chapter 349: Chapter 31: Snorlax
"These thieves are absolutely despicable!" Tracey fumed as he surveyed the ruined orchard.
"Not only did they steal the fruit, but they also destroyed the trees themselves. This is beyond disgusting!"
Misty nodded, her face reflecting equal anger. "How can anyone be so heartless? This is just cruel."
Ash, however, wore an odd expression. The scene in front of him stirred a faint memory.
After a moment of thought, he recalled the true culprit. Contrary to what he initially suspected, the destruction wasn't caused by Team Rocket. It was the work of a Pokémon—a Snorlax.
Specifically, this was no ordinary Snorlax. Ash remembered that in the original story, Grapefruit Island was visited by a unique Snorlax. It was slightly smaller than usual but just as powerful.
More remarkably, this Snorlax could swim, a rare trait for its species. The constant swimming had enhanced its physical fitness, making it not only incredibly strong but also surprisingly agile and fast.
Ash's musings were interrupted when he heard a faint sound. His sharp ears caught a distinct noise coming from within the woods—a rhythmic chewing sound.
"There's something over there!" Ash said, pointing toward the source of the sound.
Casey and the others, though they hadn't heard anything, trusted Ash's instincts and followed him deeper into the groove.
---
It didn't take long to find the culprit. Amidst the ruined trees, a massive figure was munching on branches laden with Sitrus Berries.
"It's a Snorlax?!" Casey gasped in disbelief, her eyes widening at the sight of the hulking Pokémon.
"What do we do now?" Casey looked helplessly at the others. As a non-Trainer, she had no idea how to handle the situation. Worse, none of the staff had arrived yet to assist.
"Leave it to me," Ash said with a determined gleam in his eye. He had already decided—this Snorlax was too extraordinary to pass up.
Even though its appetite rivalled that of a Gyarados, Ash was determined to capture it. He could tell that it had the potential to become one of his strongest Pokémon.

"This Snorlax is at the Silver level," Tracey observed, his trained eye assessing its strength. "Be careful, Ash."
"Got it," Ash replied with a nod. He turned to Pikachu, who stood ready at his side. "Pikachu, let's do this. Start with Thunderbolt!"
"Pikaaaaaa!" Pikachu leapt forward, its electric sacs crackling with energy. A powerful Thunderbolt surged from its body, striking the unsuspecting Snorlax mid-bite.
The attack landed squarely, enveloping Snorlax in golden lightning. The hulking Pokémon let out a pained roar as the Sitrus Berries in its grasp were reduced to ashes.
When the Thunderbolt subsided, smoke rose from Snorlax's body. Despite the powerful attack, the massive Pokémon remained standing, its expression shifting from placid to ferocious. An angry Snorlax was no small threat.
Ash was impressed by its resilience. Even though Pikachu had held back, its Thunderbolt wasn't something most Pokémon at this level could withstand without serious damage.
"This Snorlax is something else," Ash muttered to himself.
Snorlax's gaze locked onto Pikachu, recognizing it as the source of the attack. Normal-type energy surged through its body as it raised a massive fist, preparing to strike with Mega Punch.
With a roar, Snorlax charged. Despite its size, its speed was startling, leaving Misty and Tracey in awe.
"Pikachu, dodge and use Thunderbolt again!" Ash commanded.
Pikachu swiftly leapt out of Snorlax's path, evading the attack. Snorlax's punch slammed into the ground, creating a shockwave that sent dirt flying and left a crater nearly a meter wide.
As soon as Pikachu landed, it unleashed another Thunderbolt. The golden lightning arced toward Snorlax, striking it once more.
"Kirbyyyyy!" Snorlax roared in pain but didn't falter. This time, it roared loudly and somehow forced the electric current away from its body, dispersing the attack entirely.
"What?!" Ash's eyes widened in disbelief. Pikachu's Thunderbolt was no ordinary attack. For Snorlax to dispel it like that was beyond impressive, especially for an elite-level Pokémon.
The Snorlax growled and summoned more Normal-type energy. Then, with surprising agility, it leapt high into the air, aiming to crash down on Pikachu with a devastating Body Slam.
"Quick Attack, Pikachu! Get out of there!" Ash yelled, his tone more urgent now.
Pikachu dashed away in a blur of light, narrowly avoiding the attack.
Snorlax's massive body slammed into the ground with earth-shaking force. The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward, uprooting nearby trees and sending dirt flying.
Even Casey, Misty, and Tracey, who had retreated over 20 meters away, struggled to keep their footing.
"This thing is incredible!" Ash exclaimed, his admiration for Snorlax growing with each passing moment.
Pikachu returned to Ash's side, its expression serious. Both Trainer and Pokémon knew they couldn't afford to underestimate their opponent.
"Pikachu, one more Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded, his voice now steadier.
Pikachu's cheeks sparked intensely as it unleashed a Thunderbolt even stronger than before.
The bolt of lightning struck Snorlax with such force that the surrounding area dimmed momentarily from the sheer brightness.
As the attack subsided, Snorlax remained standing, its body smoking but its spirit unyielding. This battle was far from over.
