The battle began even before the referee's countdown had fully ended.
As the call reached about four-fifths of completion, Hitmonchan, who had been shuffling with small, calculated steps while keeping its intense gaze locked on Bellossom, made its move.
Without waiting for Heiya Heiji's command, it instinctively chose the best course of action.
Hitmonchan transformed into a brown blur, using the scattered rocks across the battlefield as springboards to propel itself forward with incredible short-distance speed.
Its fists, wrapped in a fiery red aura, ignited into roaring flames—it was launching a Fire Punch straight at Bellossom.
Similarly, Bellossom needed no instructions from Sato. Around her, a swirl of vibrant green energy leaves materialized—her well-practiced move, Magical Leaf.
The energy leaves, under Bellossom's graceful control, danced around her in a synchronized rhythm as she twirled elegantly. In an instant, they coalesced into a leaf tornado, surrounding her and obscuring her delicate figure within a swirling barrier of vibrant green.
The dense veil of leaves concealed Bellossom's exact position, causing Hitmonchan, now less than three meters away, to lose sight of its target.
Undeterred, the Fighting-type Pokémon charged forward with relentless determination, its fiery fists blazing.
Its fearless approach showcased the fiery spirit and bravery typical of Fighting-type Pokémon.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
As Hitmonchan reached the leaf tornado, its flame-enshrouded fists struck with rapid, machine-like precision, generating a storm of fiery punch shadows.
The relentless barrage caused the whirlwind of leaves to disintegrate under the intense assault. Many of the Magical Leaf fragments were incinerated, falling as ashes to the ground.
However, despite destroying the leaf tornado, Hitmonchan's fists failed to connect with its true target—Bellossom. Its instincts told it that it had merely struck a storm of energy leaves, not the opponent herself.
The phrase "hidden among the leaves" aptly described Hitmonchan's predicament, as the remnants of the disintegrating whirlwind still occasionally blocked its vision.
A few seconds later, the leaf tornado fully dissipated, but Bellossom was no longer where she had been. She had somehow repositioned herself 10 meters away, standing gracefully and already gathering another cluster of glowing energy leaves around her.
Some of the scattered Magical Leaf fragments from the earlier whirlwind had intentionally been redirected back into her control.
Meanwhile, Hitmonchan, having unleashed over a hundred punches in quick succession, was now in a momentary lull, its energy momentarily depleted. It stood in place, panting heavily as it tried to recover.
"Now's our chance! Use Magical Leaf to attack!" Sato called out decisively, unwilling to let such an opportunity slip by.
At his command, Bellossom's vibrant eyes lit up with a dazzling emerald glow, and she suddenly launched into a rapid, energetic waltz.
The Magical Leaf fragments surrounding her flared brightly, their green energy intensifying, before converging above her head.
The leaves merged into a powerful emerald stream, which surged forward with tremendous force, aimed squarely at the fatigued Hitmonchan.
Thanks to Bellossom's increased level and the support of the Miracle Seed, a treasured Grass-type item, her Magical Leaf had undergone significant enhancement.
Previously, she could only control up to 128 energy leaves at once. Now, she could command up to 180, and the increase in quantity had exponentially boosted the move's power.
The emerald torrent surged forward, roaring with energy, as it closed in on Hitmonchan!
"Retreat! Use the rocks as cover to minimize the damage from the attack!"
Seeing Bellossom controlling a massive torrent of Magical Leaf energy heading straight for Hitmonchan, Heiya Heiji's expression changed. He quickly commanded Hitmonchan to retreat temporarily.
Though reluctant, Hitmonchan didn't dare to disobey Heiji's instructions.
It immediately pushed off the ground, rapidly retreating and guiding Bellossom's Magical Leaf attack to collide with the scattered rocks on the battlefield, using them as sacrificial shields.
Hitmonchan executed Heiji's command with remarkable precision, weakening the Magical Leaf attack significantly by redirecting it to strike several rocks on the field.
Seeing this, Bellossom could only sigh inwardly and continued to manipulate the Magical Leaf to further exhaust Hitmonchan, forcing it to expend more energy defending.
Heiya Heiji and Hitmonchan, both naturally inclined toward aggressive combat, weren't content with remaining on the defensive.
The moment Bellossom's Magical Leaf began losing its power, Heiji ordered Hitmonchan to close the gap once more, aiming to regain the upper hand in battle.
However, as Hitmonchan advanced within 10 meters of Bellossom, the rock it intended to use as a springboard suddenly sprouted two emerald-green blades of grass.
The blades of grass grew precisely where Hitmonchan stepped and, in an instant, twisted together into a tight knot.
"Watch your footing!"
Heiji, who had been carefully observing the battlefield, noticed the sudden appearance of the green grass under Hitmonchan's feet. He immediately shouted a warning.
Focused solely on Bellossom ahead, Hitmonchan failed to notice the situation beneath it. Despite Heiji's quick reaction, Hitmonchan had already committed to its next move.
"Thud!"
With Bellossom's cleverly executed Grass Knot, Hitmonchan tripped and fell face-first onto the ground, creating a small crater upon impact.
A cloud of dust erupted into the air as the force of the fall dragged its body forward, leaving a deep scratch on the battlefield and covering Hitmonchan in numerous abrasions.
To make matters worse, Bellossom's Magical Leaf seized the opportunity to strike. The green blades rained down from above, delivering another heavy blow to the struggling Hitmonchan as it attempted to rise, forcing it back onto the ground.
Finally, Bellossom concluded the assault with a Energy Ball, adding the finishing touch to the barrage of attacks. Hitmonchan, overwhelmed by consecutive hits, now bore significant damage.
In just a minute or two, the battle had shifted dramatically. Hitmonchan, which started strong, was now entirely on the defensive, caught in Bellossom's rhythm and repeatedly overwhelmed.
The intense exchange, especially Bellossom's masterful control of Magical Leaf and Hitmonchan's unfortunate misstep, thrilled the spectators at the edge of the battlefield.
However, among the cheering crowd, some trainers wore grave expressions. Their gazes toward Bellossom and Sato were filled with fierce determination. Hitmonchan's strength was undeniable, yet it was now being completely outclassed by Bellossom.
This was proof of Bellossom's superior power and Sato's strategic prowess.
