Pokemon: The Master Of Monsters

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Playing Pinball With Psychic

"Great, I won 5,000 game coins!"

In just over ten minutes, Sabrina had earned 5,000 game coins, a significant step toward their goal of 100,000.

"Let's switch machines." Gary wasn't bold enough to continue draining one pinball machine for too long.

Sabrina had been playing for more than ten minutes, and no one in the game hall had noticed yet. It was clear that losing a few thousand coins in a machine wouldn't trigger any alarms.

Gary felt it was time to move on before the machine's pinballs ran out.

After winning 5,000 game coins from each pinball machine, they moved on to another. Thankfully, there were plenty of pinball machines in the hall.

Gary and Sabrina only needed 100,000 game coins—5,000 per machine meant they needed to win on 20 machines. There were 100 pinball machines here, so they had plenty of options.

One hour later:

Gary was now holding a basket full of game coins, with another basket beside him. Together, they had exactly 100,000 game coins.

The marbles won from the pinball machines could be directly exchanged for game coins at the machine, so they hadn't had to go to the counter, which might have attracted attention.

"Sabrina, we can go now," Gary said, glancing at the baskets.

"Is this really okay?" Sabrina's heart raced as she looked at the two large baskets of coins. 100,000 game coins were worth about 10 million, probably equal to a month's profit for the game hall.

If anyone saw this many coins, would they let them go?

"Don't worry, it'll be fine. Let's go." Gary reassured her.

"Okay," Sabrina nodded, trying to calm her nerves.

With baskets in hand, they approached the front desk to exchange the game coins.

"Wow... You won so many game coins!" The young lady at the counter was stunned. She had never seen anyone win so much at once.

"Yes, I'd like to exchange them for two Eevee coins," Gary said casually.

"Sure, but we'll need to count them first. There are a lot of coins."

"Then count them quickly."

The front desk ladies rushed over to start counting the coins, using a machine to speed up the process.

Just then, the lady at the counter led in a woman wearing a professional manager's uniform.

The woman had short purple hair, black-framed glasses, and an air of competence that suggested she was a seasoned professional.

"...Manori!" Gary recognized her immediately.

Manori was Itaki's secretary. If she was here, that meant Itaki might be in the underground base.

"Hello, my name is Mayu, and I manage this game hall. I was watching the surveillance of you two playing the pinball machines. You've won every time, and the pinballs always fall into the correct channels. Can you explain why?" Mayu asked, eyeing them suspiciously.

Sabrina's heart skipped a beat. They had been caught cheating, and she felt nervous, but her cold expression masked any anxiety.

"Why? Of course, I'm just lucky. What's the problem? Do you only allow customers to lose money in your game hall, but not to win?" Gary shot back, his voice calm.

Mayu seemed to think Sabrina was the mastermind behind the operation, but Gary's response caught her off guard.

His explanation sounded far-fetched. Even if he were lucky, it was impossible for the marbles to always fall into the right channels. Did he really think she would believe that?

"Of course not," Mayu responded sternly. "We have both winners and losers in our game hall. If you truly won by luck, you can take your prize. But if you're using some unknown method, we'll track you down."

Her voice lowered deliberately at the end, clearly meant as a warning.

"You mean I cheated? Fine, call the police then," Gary said nonchalantly, pulling out his phone to dial.

"Wait!" Mayu immediately stopped him.

"What? You suspect I cheated? Then call the police," Gary retorted.

Mayu was seething inside, but her options were limited. If the boss had been present, she would've already called the authorities, but now she had no choice.

"I hope you'll explain yourself. I can see you're young, so I'll let this go this time. If this goes any further, it won't end well. Your parents will hear about it," she warned.

"Just tell me whether you'll change the Eevee coins or not. If not, I'll call the police. You've got one minute to decide." Gary didn't flinch.

Mayu gritted her teeth, glaring at him. She was frustrated but didn't know how to proceed. Calling the police would bring unwanted attention.

At that moment, aria, the receptionist who had helped Gary earlier, came over.

Mayu was annoyed at the interruption but gave her a chance to speak.

"What is it?" Mayu asked curtly.

Aria whispered something in Mayu's ear, and the manager's eyes widened in shock as she turned to look at Gary.

Gary was confused by the exchange. He had no idea what aria had said.

Although aria was just a receptionist, there was a chance she was part of Team Rocket, which owned the game hall. She could have insider knowledge.

Mayu didn't waste time. She nodded at the counter staff.

"Give him the two Eevees," she ordered.

"Uh, yes, Manager Mayu," the staff responded, still surprised.

The counter staff rushed into the back room and returned with two Poké Balls, placing them on the counter.

"Here are the two Eevees you requested."

The lady opened the Poké Balls, releasing two Eevees.

"Boop-boop!" the Eevees barked happily as they appeared. They were brown fox-like creatures, with thick, oval-shaped tails.

The Eevees weren't scared of the humans around them, indicating they were used to human contact. They likely came from a breeder's facility.

Gary recognized them immediately—Eevee, a Pokémon known for its adaptability. It was likely bred in a Team Rocket facility, which specialized in breeding Eevees with strong potential.

Gary knew that Team Rocket often experimented with Pokémon. For instance, Cassidy and Butch had a special Drowzee that could directly manipulate targets with its hypnotic wave, something not found in regular Drowzees.

While Gary and Sabrina prepared to leave with their Eevees, Gary couldn't help but feel uneasy about the strange circumstances. Had they truly escaped the situation unscathed? Only time would tell.
