"Crackle~~~"

"Boom!!!"

A loud noise suddenly echoed across the area, snapping Satoshi out of his thoughts about which Pokémon to catch next.

"Wait, was that thunder? Hey, it's the middle of the day! The sky is clear, not a cloud in sight, and the sun is shining. Where'd the lightning come from?"

Satoshi moved to the window, catching a glimpse of the distant flash of lightning. It was brief, disappearing as quickly as it had come.

"There shouldn't be any lightning in this weather, so the only explanation is that it came from an Electric-type Pokémon. But are there any Electric-types nearby?"

Curiosity piqued, Satoshi turned off his panel. Before heading out, he activated Exp. Share to ensure his Pokémon could gain experience while he explored.

"That direction… it's near the outskirts of Pewter City, close to the Evergreen Forest—the area I just passed through. I don't recall there being Electric Pokémon there, or did I miss something?"

The possibility of encountering a strong Electric-type Pokémon intrigued him. Whether it was wild or owned by a Trainer, he wanted to check it out.

"If it's wild, I'll catch it. If it's owned by a Trainer, I'll battle them. Either way, it's worth a look."

With Charmeleon and Frogadier refreshed from their meal, Satoshi decided to recall them to their Poké Balls to allow for maximum rest before their next battles.

Arriving near the outskirts, Satoshi stumbled upon a battle scene. A Charmander and a Bulbasaur were locked in a fierce exchange of powerful attacks.

Charmander unleashed a fiery Flamethrower, while Bulbasaur countered with a dazzling Solar Beam. The two attacks clashed in a burst of energy, neither Pokémon giving an inch.

Satoshi's jaw dropped at the spectacle.

"Charmander's Flamethrower and Bulbasaur's Solar Beam… seriously? There's so much to unpack here, I don't even know where to start."

Watching a Charmander use Flamethrower and a Bulbasaur use Solar Beam at this stage was baffling. These were high-level moves, far beyond what these Pokémon should know.

"Charmander only learns Flamethrower at level 36, which is normally when it's already evolved into Charizard—unless it used a TM to learn it. And Bulbasaur can't even learn Solar Beam through leveling; it has to use a TM or rigorous training!"

While ordinary players and Trainers required extensive time and effort to teach their Pokémon advanced moves like these, Satoshi knew there were exceptions—prodigies who could train Pokémon faster than usual.

"So, these two Pokémon are probably gifted… geniuses. To be this strong so early, they must have received exceptional training. Let's see what I'm dealing with."

Curious about their potential, Satoshi pulled out his Pokédex and scanned the two Pokémon.

[Name: Charmander

Type: Fire

Ability: Blaze

Level: 22 (Intermediate)

Potential: Champion

Name: Bulbasaur

Type: Grass

Ability: Overgrow

Level: 20 (Intermediate)

Potential: Champion]

Satoshi's breath hitched. "Champion potential for both?! And at these levels? I thought my Charmander was impressive after evolving to champion potential through so much effort, but these two… they started with champion potential! That's just insane."

Compared to other players, most of whom were thrilled to get Elite-potential Pokémon, Satoshi had considered himself fortunate to receive a Charmander with Quasi-Elite potential. After countless battles and strategic planning, he had painstakingly raised it to Champion potential.

But here were a Charmander and Bulbasaur, naturally blessed with Champion potential from the start.

"The gap between us is unreal. These Trainers must have incredible luck or skill to have Pokémon like these."

The battle reached its climax as Charmander and Bulbasaur roared and unleashed their full power. The resulting explosion sent both Pokémon flying backward, landing hard on the ground.

"It's a tie," Satoshi observed. "But strictly speaking, Charmander lost. Its level is higher, and its Fire-type has a natural advantage over Bulbasaur's Grass-type. A tie under those circumstances is basically a loss."

The two Trainers, however, were locked in an argument over the outcome. Each claimed their Pokémon had the upper hand.

Satoshi sighed, watching the scene unfold. After a few moments of consideration, he decided to approach.

"Maybe I can settle this for them… or at least get a better look at their strategies."
