Psychic Overlord

Chapter 21: Corpse Control?

Unsurprisingly, the outside of the sophomore dormitories was packed with operators, numbering almost 20. Most of them were just handling cleanup while a few of them occasionally went in and came out, either bringing new bodies or new captives to be executed, then tossed into the corpse pile, which now formed a small hill.

Looking at those faces, some of which were his classmates or juniors, full of despair as they died unwillingly, Kaizer became silent. He began to wonder whether his reluctance to kill was a mistake, as they were not creatures that should be spared, in his now revised opinion.

Kaizer raised a hand and grabbed the body of one of the male corpses near the back of the pile. He concentrated the full extent of his telekinesis on the corpse, causing it to rise to its feet in jerky, unsure movements that seemed like a puppet doll being manipulated.

However, the corpse soon steadied itself and seemed to gain some sort of semblance as Kaizer focused on controlling the bones and muscles with his telekinesis, rather than the external form. He then took a few confused baby steps around the corpse pile, eventually becoming more fluent with his movement by the time he arrived at the side where the killers stood.

Two of the killers were standing side by side, idly chatting as they scanned the area around them for any sign of trouble, not even looking at the corpse pile behind them. After all, each person within was confirmed dead by double tap and even triple tap, so unless there were ghosts and gods in this world, they shouldn't be able to cause trouble.

However, they were soon surprised when two bloodied and unstable arms reached out from behind and grabbed the head of one of the two men from behind, using its full strength to twist it to the side. The spine immediately dislocated, and one could even hear a 'pop' sound as the bones within broke, killing the man right away.

As the killer fell to the ground, his compatriot's head snapped to the side with shock, wondering what had just happened. However, when he saw what was for all intents and purposes a lifeless corpse—given its eyes, which were void of life and its facial expression, which remained the same no matter what—dash towards him with its arms outstretched as well.

"Ah! What the fuck?!" The guy screamed as he turned and unloaded his bullets into the corpse, which was stopped by the barrage and became riddled with holes, blood leaking out of many of them.

Before he could breathe a sigh of relief, the corpse shot forward and grabbed him by the head, trying to twist his neck as well. The fellow fought back, grabbing the hands of the corpse and trying his best to resist, but he simply could not defeat a fatigueless creature enhanced by telekinetic power.

Eventually, he too was killed, and the others nearby turned to glance this way in surprise since they did not expect shots to be fired by these two. When they saw the corpse that was damaged by bullets ambling towards them, they were also stunned for a split second, wondering if they were hallucinating or if this was some sort of nightmare.

"What the heck are you idiots waiting for? Fire at that unholy thing!" One of their men roared, causing the group to snap out of their horrified stupor and raise their weapons to fire at full blast.

Countless bullets loaded into the corpse, turning it from somewhat whole into extremely ruined, with pieces of flesh and bones strewn about around it. The corpse could not function like this as it lacked too much, eventually falling to the ground, dead as it always had been.

However, before these guys could sigh with relief, the corpse of their comrade rose up and released the safety of their gun, firing back at his 'teammates.' More than seven were killed by this sudden attack before they quickly sought cover and fired back at the corpse standing out in the open, piercing its combat gear to riddle it with bullets as well.

But this was futile as another corpse stood up from their side, emerging behind the group, who were now completely flustered and glancing around wildly as if looking for enemies in the shadows, opening fire once again.

This kind of scene repeated itself over and over until everyone at the front of the dorm was killed. Ideally, all Kaizer had to do now was raise another corpse and then walk into the dorm, which was visible within the range of his telesthesia, and rely on the element of surprise to kill those searching within.

However, the young man was currently laid flat on the ground, groaning in what seemed to be pain as a strange blue outline formed around his entire body that almost highlighted his position in the shrubbery. This outline was called strange because, unlike the typical blue color he manifested when using his abilities, similar to his eyes, this one was darker and more sinister.

In a certain world where the eyes could not see but only the mind could perceive, threads of blue light leaked from the corpses of those Kaizer personally killed using his abilities, all feeding towards him slowly and causing the blue outline around him to become deeper and more condensed.

This lasted for about 2 minutes before he pushed himself off the ground, touching his temples, which were throbbing, and relaxing them. The moment he focused, he was surprised to find that the range of his telesthesia had more than doubled to around 290 meters, almost three times his initial range!

Within that range, he could sense anything and everything as if he were personally there, and he could even see what was happening in the nearby sophomore dorm from top to bottom. He jolted out of his stupor and searched for his cousin Rina, his initial objective, but found that she wasn't here at all.

Kaizer suppressed two things at this moment: the first was the rising fear and worry building in his heart about the safety of his cousin and what he would end up doing if he found her body among such corpses. The second was the burning questions in his mind, screaming at the back of his head about the sudden spike in his power after killing for the first time in his life, consciously at least.

However, he chose to remain calm and focus on his task at hand. Rina was not at the Sophomore Dormitories for whatever reasons, so it was likely that some misinformation and trickery were involved in the whole process that he wasn't privy to.

As such, Kaizer kicked off and began moving through the campus grounds just as carefully as before, angling for the department buildings near where he had been whisked away from since Rina would likely have fled to one of them with his two bodyguards.

At this moment, Kaizer stopped and clutched his chest, feeling a heart-palpitation fear that caused his blood to churn within his body. Beads of sweat immediately formed across his body, soaking him through and through, and his eyes widened greatly like a prey animal caught in the sight of a predator.

He glanced upwards, seeing that a huge black curtain of light was rising from the roof of the Business Department building.

One look at the dark curtain, and a world formed in Kaizer's heart.

Death!
