Chapter 466: Chapter 466: The Lone Main God
The river of time flowed quietly.
Above the endless dense forest of the Radiant Forest, Garon and the Cloud Giant God continued their standoff.
After experiencing a series of mental manipulations and ultimately seeing through the illusions of the Cloud Giant God, Garon had gradually figured out the Cloud Giant God's abilities. Although he couldn't break them easily, he could respond more calmly.
The Cloud Giant God's mental power was like an endless wave, infiltrating every corner, ceaselessly sweeping towards Garon's mind, attempting to exert influence.
On the other side, Garon focused his thoughts, steadfastly guarding his mind like a rock standing firm amidst waves, unaffected by wind and rain.
Simultaneously, Garon searched for the Cloud Giant God's hidden true body through the ripples in his mind, aiming to strike. However, besides mental and spiritual powers, the Cloud Giant God was also a master of illusions, hiding among the clouds with numerous false bodies, making it difficult for Garon to determine the real one, often attacking in vain.
Thus, the battle between the two was at a stalemate, with neither able to gain the upper hand.
"I'm not a match for the second-generation Giant Gods, but I can hold my own against the third-generation ones."
Bathed in the divine light from the numerous gods' descent, Garon introspected silently.
Authority of Mind: Tombstone of Decay!
The Cloud Giant God, hiding somewhere, used his authority.
Invisible but able to affect the real world, divine mental power gathered above Garon, forming hundreds of semi-phantom sharp tombstones. These tombstones carried a deadly aura, capable of causing spiritual decay and mental collapse, descending from the sky.
Garon's majestic body showcased extraordinary agility, dodging among the tombstones. Though he couldn't avoid them all, he managed to evade most. The rest he blocked directly with his Chrono Barrier.
Boom!
Garon's head buzzed as if struck by a giant stone, his mind stirred with heavy waves, dizzy and dazed.
The Cloud Giant God's mental, spiritual, and thought powers somewhat countered Garon's Chrono Barrier. Though the barrier remained intact against the Tombstone of Decay, the residual mental power shook and penetrated Garon's mind with each contact.
"To the left!"
Garon shook his head, flapping his wings, tearing through the clouds, heading straight for the Cloud Giant God's hiding spot.
Despite the swift and fierce dragon's attack, the Cloud Giant God reacted quickly, dodging immediately and summoning numerous illusions to hinder Garon. However, Garon tore through them relentlessly.
Slash!
The Cloud Giant God's deep blue robe was left with deep claw marks.
Ethereal blood, like mist, flowed down the golden skin, dripping into the dense forest below, instantly creating strange illusions. Ordinary creatures entering would become completely lost until they perished.
Despite being cautious while using his powers, the Cloud Giant God's location was still detected by Garon.
Unless he did nothing and remained hidden, he would give Garon opportunities.
"Damn dragon god, why is your mental will so tenacious?"
"He is gradually adapting to my mental influence."
The often-injured Cloud Giant God felt uneasy.
Gods are not omnipotent and have their strengths and weaknesses.
The Cloud Giant God excelled in mental control but lacked the physical prowess of other giant gods. His strength, speed, and defense were inferior to other mid-level giant gods, making it dangerous when Garon discovered and closed in on his true body.
Just now, had he dodged a bit slower, Garon's claw would have pierced his divine body.
Time flowed quietly.
With each mental and physical clash, as Garon's resistance grew stronger, the Cloud Giant God slowly fell into a disadvantage.
"Something's wrong. Even my second-generation brothers can't adapt and break free from my mental control so quickly."
"What's going on?"
Seeing the vigorous silver dragon, the Cloud Giant God's face grew serious as he narrowly avoided a spear attack.
In reality, Garon and the Cloud Giant God were equally matched, even slightly weaker due to a gap in divine rank. However, Garon's essence was a time abomination.
Abominations are horrifying products of failed divine experiments, with twisted and unique minds.
The first-generation Iron Dragon King erased the time abomination's mind, but its essence remained unchanged, and even with a new personality shaped by Garon, its nature as an abomination persisted.
Had the Cloud Giant God known Garon's essence, he could have used abilities targeting abominations, altering the situation. Unfortunately, he treated Garon as a normal dragon god.
In typical situations against mentally resistant enemies, the Cloud Giant God would use his secondary time authority for support. However, Garon, a famous time dragon god, wielded time authority as his main power, leaving the Cloud Giant God unwilling to show off before him.
"Forget it, if I can't kill him, I'll just go through the motions. I can't risk my life for this."
With this thought, the Cloud Giant God started to slack off.
He stopped actively attacking Garon mentally, instead subtly influencing Garon's wariness and hostility, while focusing on hiding and creating illusions to confuse Garon.
"Oh? Your attitude has become passive."
Garon keenly noticed the Cloud Giant God's change.
The destructive authority power ceased, focusing on self-preservation.
"I say, our standoff is pointless, just wasting divine power."
"Why not pretend to fight fiercely, put on a show for our respective gods?"
Surrounded by heavy illusions, constantly appearing and disappearing, almost covering the space where the Cloud Giant God and Garon were, making it hard for outsiders to see. The Cloud Giant God's voice directly entered Garon's mind, still carrying strong mental allure.
The silver dragon's eyes flickered, his actions slowed, conserving his divine power. With the Cloud Giant God's passive approach, focusing solely on self-preservation, Garon had no effective means to deal with him.
"Interesting, you really don't care about racial hatred."
"Aren't you afraid the Storm Lord will see through your intentions and clean house?"
Garon chuckled and asked.
The Cloud Giant God's attitude was relaxed, unconcerned, "I don't care. I didn't experience the Dragonfall War, so I don't have much hatred towards you. I'm only participating because of the circumstances and to break my seal."
"As for the Storm Lord... Haha, my ambitious brother needs me. Without solid evidence, after patricide, killing his siblings would prevent him from uniting the giant pantheon."
During the Dragonfall War, the Cloud Giant God was sealed in the Blazing Hell.
The Storm Lord wanted to free him but didn't act due to Annam's authority.
Thus, the Cloud Giant God didn't participate in the Dragonfall War.
Moreover, after being freed from the Blazing Hell, he wanted to enjoy his freedom, not get dragged into the war. However, the condition for his release was to fight for the giant pantheon, making his involvement inevitable.
While communicating with the Cloud Giant God, Garon examined his mind, finding the mental influence only dispelled hostility, without attempting to make him believe.
"You are a newly ascended dragon god, a legendary dragon different from ordinary true dragons."
"I understand, you don't harbor much hatred towards the giant pantheon like me."
"Maybe you are also forced to fight?"
The Cloud Giant God whispered.
Garon remained unmoved, "Whether it's hatred or compulsion no longer matters. The important thing is, in this war, if the dragon gods win, your giant pantheon will fall into the abyss, and vice versa."
Whether the Cloud Giant God was subtly influencing Garon or genuinely thought so, it couldn't change Garon's mind.
As a dragon god, Garon knew his prosperity was tied to the dragons' success.
This alone made it impossible for the Cloud Giant God to shake Garon's resolve.
The Cloud Giant God didn't seem to understand this, feeling the giant pantheon's fate was irrelevant to him despite being a member.
"It seems more than just the Cloud Giant God..."
"My avatar fought the Stone Giant God, who only defended and protected his people."
"And the Natural and Hunting God hasn't appeared to assist the Storm Lord."
"If other giant gods have their own agendas..."
With this thought, Garon looked towards the distant battle between the Storm Lord and the two dragon gods, a smile of pity appearing on his dragon face.
Garon's confidence in the dragon pantheon's victory had never been stronger.
"No wonder Annam gave up on the giant pantheon."
"Perhaps the only one fighting wholeheartedly is the Storm Lord, purely and pitifully striving for the giants' glory."
Next, Garon seemed to agree with the Cloud Giant God's suggestion, weakening his attacks while patiently waiting for a chance to kill him.
"A wise choice, haha, I didn't misjudge you."
"Let them fight until the world turns upside down. It has nothing to do with us."
"When the war ends, I'll be completely free."
On the other side, the Cloud Giant God, seeing Garon's weakened attacks, thought he was content to slack off, exchanging harmless yet flashy moves.
However, he remained hidden, not giving Garon any opportunity.
After some time, the battle in the Radiant Forest changed dramatically.
With the Natural and Hunting God still absent, the first-generation Iron Dragon King appeared.
Exposed during the War of Glory, the Iron Dragon King couldn't stay hidden as the enemy was on guard.
Boom!
Covered in dark iron-like scales, the ferocious first-generation Iron Dragon King roared, tearing through the planar barrier, heading straight for the three battling divine powers.
The Storm Lord, sensing the Iron Dragon King's arrival while fighting the two dragon gods, changed his expression.
The Iron Dragon King's overall strength was below the Metal Dragon God and the Immortal Dragon Queen, but his body was incredibly resilient, like divine iron.
Upon arrival, the Iron Dragon King
shattered the storm and approached the Storm Lord, launching a relentless attack.
The three dragon gods formed a triangular siege, surrounding the Storm Lord, attacking mercilessly with all their might.
The Storm Lord was strong, but fighting two dragon gods was already an impressive feat.
At the level of powerful divine beings, few could fight multiple opponents alone.
Facing the third dragon god, the Storm Lord quickly fell into a disadvantage, his eight-armed defensive formation collapsing, his divine body torn by dragon claws, blood flowing like a waterfall.
"Siati!"
"What are you waiting for!"
The Storm Lord, defending against the three dragon gods, roared with bulging veins.
Boom!
Thunder rumbled, covering millions of kilometers with dark clouds, creating a suffocating atmosphere as if the world would end in the next second.
Endless thunder descended, wrapping around the Storm Lord, gathering, brewing, and exploding on his divine body.
A blinding white thunderball, larger and brighter than the sun, erupted from the Storm Lord, vaporizing everything in its path, even the three dragon gods were blasted away.
Whoosh.
A strange beast suddenly appeared.
It seemed like a semi-transparent energy being, constantly changing forms, displaying various beasts' shapes: lion, tiger, elephant, snake, rabbit.
A powerful divine aura flowed around the beast.
The Beast Lord.
The Beast Lord transformed into a giant elephant with lightning markings, raising its trunk and absorbing the thunderball's energy, preventing widespread destruction in the Radiant Forest.
It coldly observed the battle between the dragon and giant gods, only handling the aftermath without assisting any side.
In a second, the three dragon gods, covered in lightning arcs, attacked the Storm Lord again.
The Storm Lord quickly became overwhelmed, heavily injured.
"Siati, have you seen enough!"
The Storm Lord, with fury in his eyes, roared angrily.
"My great brother, you killed our father, but your gained power is only enough to handle two dragon gods?"
"Father must be disappointed."
A mental wave filled with resentment came.
Another giant god arrived.
This female giant god was rare in beauty, with a well-proportioned and athletic body. She wore a simple skirt armor, revealing her long, round legs. Carrying a longbow and spear, with a divine glowing rope at her waist, she appeared valiant like a wild leopard.
The Natural and Hunting God Siati, a powerful divine being, and Annam's eldest daughter.
"Siati, I know you're displeased with me, but this is no time for venting emotions."
"Next time, I'll strip your divine authority."
The Storm Lord scolded.
As the leader of a pantheon, a main god often has special authority.
For example, promoting pantheon members or stripping their power for punishment. The Cloud Giant God's banishment was one such example.
Now, being besieged by three dragon gods, the Storm Lord was furious.
"Hmph."
Siati snorted, no longer provoking the Storm Lord.
She took her giant hunting bow, aiming at the Iron Dragon King, drawing the bowstring.
Green vines grew around the bow, blooming with fragrant flowers, forming a strange, vibrant, natural arrow.
Whoosh!
After being filled with divine power, Siati released the vine arrow, which instantly disappeared, reappearing lodged in the Iron Dragon King's faceplate, near his eye socket.
The Iron Dragon King shook his head, avoiding a fatal hit.
Vines crawled over the Iron Dragon King's faceplate, trying to penetrate the scales.
Crack! Black scales turned gray and fragile, with cracks spreading, while the flowers on the vines became more vibrant.
The Iron Dragon King tore off the scales and vines, causing blood to flow, looking more ferocious.
With his robust body, the Iron Dragon King's wounds quickly healed, continuing his attack on the Storm Lord.
However, Siati seemed fixated on the Iron Dragon King, continuously shooting arrows at him, alleviating the Storm Lord's pressure.
Facing a powerful divine attack, the Iron Dragon King couldn't ignore it, unable to focus solely on the Storm Lord, causing several near-misses with the other dragon gods.
Yet, the Storm Lord, under the three dragon gods' siege, was in a worse position, so the Iron Dragon King continued his frantic assault despite the attacks.
Siati then shifted her aim.
In an instant, the Dragon God of Death and Judgment, the Rune and Trickery Dragon, and Garon, the Time Dragon God, felt a deep chill, as if being locked by a predatory gaze.
"If I had come a bit later, I could have taught the Storm Lord a good lesson."
The Immortal Dragon Queen felt regret, and at her behest, the Iron Dragon King roared, his dark body soaring, charging at Siati, preventing her from targeting other dragon gods.
In the Radiant Forest, the initial three-way divine battle quickly turned into a five-way clash.
Waves of divine and dragon power surged, where their aftermath passed, the landscape and creatures of Beastland were utterly destroyed, with mountains shattered, rivers dried, and forests incinerated.
Soon, the depths of the Radiant Forest became a wasteland.
With the space extensively shattered, the five powerful divine beings appeared to be fighting in a dark void from a distance.
If not for the Beast Lord mitigating the divine power's aftermath, the Radiant Forest would have faced even more terrifying destruction.
