Rebirth Counterattack: I Heard That the Imperial Marshal Has a Crush on Me

Chapter 83

After a while, Mr. Barlow emerged, holding a box in his hand.

Chu Muxi asked knowingly, “Teacher, what are you holding? Is it a gift for me?” After speaking, he reached out to take it.

Mr. Barlow glared at him and swatted his hand away. “Be careful, brat, don’t touch it carelessly, or you might break it.” He touched the box, with a distressed and reluctant expression on his face.

Chu Muxi blinked. “What’s in this? Could it be a treasure that Teacher has treasured for many years?”

“Look at that greedy look on your face. But indeed, this is something I’ve treasured for many years—”

“So, Teacher, are you giving it to me now?” Chu Muxi leaned over with a smile. “Oh, that’s embarrassing. I just received such a big gift when I became an apprentice. I’m not worthy of it.”

“You little rascal, leave it here. Go away, who said I was going to give it to you!” Mr. Barlow avoided him, endured it, gritted his teeth for the last time, placed the box on the bar, and pushed it over. “No, let’s open it and take a look.”

Chu Muxi took the box and examined it. “No key?”

“Haha, you have the key and you still want to open it?” Mr. Barlow said with a mischievous smile. “Boy, if you can open it yourself, I might really give you the things inside. But if you can’t, then just make me some desserts.”

Chu Muxi’s heart stirred. What did Mr. Barlow mean by this? Could it be that he suspected something? He raised his head. “Teacher—”

“No acting like a baby! But because you’re my only apprentice, I’ll give you three days. If it takes longer—”

There was a click, and Mr. Barlow’s jaw dropped, staring in disbelief.

Chu Muxi peered into the box. “Teacher, what’s this small disc? Teacher? Teacher?” He turned around, confused, and saw Mr. Barlow’s old face approaching him, immediately stepping back in fright. “Teacher, what are you doing?”

“You, you— you opened it?!!!” Mr. Barlow was so shocked he couldn’t finish his words. “How did you open it?!”

Chu Muxi blinked innocently. “I just pulled it, and then did this, and it opened. It seemed quite simple. Did you not have the key at all, Teacher?” He looked at his teacher with suspicion.

Mr. Barlow’s beard bristled, and he said angrily, “Forget it, you’re really lucky! Humph!” Impossible, this box had been passed down in his family. While the items inside were valuable, the most precious thing was the box itself.

In their family, whoever could open the box the fastest without external force would inherit the box and become the clan leader.

This kid must have stumbled upon it by accident. He was just lucky, hum.

.

Chu Muxi picked up the disc, examined it closely, and couldn’t help but exclaim, “This is so exquisite!” The disc looked like a dial, very small, but intricately made, consisting of hundreds of gears and a subtle organizational structure. Though motionless now, its value was evident.

“Teacher, what is this?”

“I won’t tell you yet.” Mr. Barlow breathed a sigh of relief. “Take this thing back. If you can repair it within three days and get it to rotate again, I’ll tell you what it is.” After Mr. Barlow spoke, someone threw a capsule to Chu Muxi.

Chu Muxi took it. “Space capsule?”

“Yes, just follow the instructions inside and learn.”

“What if I broke it?” Chu Muxi asked deliberately.

Mr. Barlow snorted coldly. “Then I’ll tear you apart.”

“Teacher is really scary. Alright, I’ll take on this task. If I fix it, will there be any reward?” Chu Muxi raised his eyebrows.

“Fix it first, you little rascal. Get out of here, don’t bother my business.” Mr. Barlow handed over the items and started chasing Chu Muxi away.

“I understand, Teacher. I’ll go back now. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely be able to fix it for you.” Chu Muxi left the dessert shop with a smile.

Mr. Barlow watched him go and thought to himself, ‘that little rascal! Don’t think I don’t see through your intentions! Snort! If this kid can really handle it, perhaps there’s something to teach.’

As soon as Chu Muxi left the dessert shop, he couldn’t help but send a message to Lu Junzhi.

[Want to come to Shen Garden tonight? I learned a new cake recipe today, and it’s super delicious.]

[Sounds good.] Lu Junzhi replied almost instantly.

Setting down the communication device, Lu Junzhi’s face immediately turned serious. “How is it?”

“The old man is an expert at hiding. We’ve been tracking him for so long, but we only know he’s somewhere near or at the Central Star. But his exact location eludes us,” Zhou Xu shrugged. “You know as well as I do, this old man excels at two things: fixing mechas and hiding.”

Lu Junzhi watched the video message sent from the Deep Space Fortress, and the Chunjun stationed in the deepest part of the fortress glowed with an indifferent silver sheen.
