Chapter 11: Retribution
Aunt Yue was alarmed. "Hanxue, don't act recklessly."
Hanxue's eyes glistened with tears as she protested, "Aunt Yue! How can you endure being treated like this? Today it's Noble Consort Yu; tomorrow, it might be Noble Consort Hui! When will it ever end?"
Aunt Yue chuckled softly. "You silly child."
She sighed again. "We have no power or influence. It's a blessing if we can live in peace. Don't stir up trouble—just endure, and this will pass."
Hanxue said nothing, but her expression showed her unwillingness to comply.
Yuanjiu had never been someone who repaid grievances with kindness.
After a moment of thought, she subtly infused a sliver of her consciousness that was wrapped in wind-type energy, into Hanxue's body.
She had just come up with an idea to punish Noble Consort Yu and embedded it within this sliver of her consciousness.
Once it entered Hanxue's mind, it would manifest as though Hanxue herself had thought of the idea.
Sure enough, Hanxue smirked, her expression suddenly mischievous. "Aunt Yue, I have a way to deal with that Noble Consort Yu!"
Aunt Yue was alarmed. "Oh no, my dear girl, don't act recklessly!"
Hanxue pretended not to hear her, she carrying Yuanjiu around the hall as she hummed a cheerful tune. "Don't worry, Aunt Yue. This plan won't cause any trouble."
Yuanjiu's idea was, in fact, quite simple.
Earlier, outside, she had overheard the conversation between Noble Consort Yu and her maid, learning that it was against the rules for the consort to visit the Cold Palace.
All they needed to do was make this transgression known to others.
Once it became public knowledge that Noble Consort Yu had broken the rules and entered the Cold Palace, she would inevitably face punishment.
Even if Yuanjiu's so-called father, the emperor, was too fond of the consort to discipline her, the court's whispers would be impossible to suppress.
That night, after feeding Yuanjiu, Hanxue made up an excuse for Aunt Yue to stay and watch over the baby while she sneaked out of the room.
Using illusion magic to alter her appearance, she headed toward the palace maids' quarters.
"Who are you?" A girl in a green dress stepped forward, blocking her path with a wary look.
Hanxue offered a shy smile. "Sorry, I went into the wrong room. Sister, are you new here too?"
The girl relaxed at Hanxue's friendly demeanor. "No, I'm from Moonstone Glaze Palace. Where are you from?"
Relieved that the girl wasn't one of Noble Consort Yu's people, Hanxue quickly responded.
"Oh, I'm from the laundry quarters, Sister. Btw, did you hear that?" Hanxue leaned in conspiratorially.
"Hear what?"
"That Noble Consort Yu—she's so bold! She actually sneaked into the Cold Palace today."
"What?" The girls who are sharing the room with the girl in green dress immediately gathered around. "Isn't the Cold Palace doesn't allowed anyone to enter?"
Hanxue swayed her head as she spoke, looking completely serious. "I saw it with my own eyes. Noble Consort Yu is His Majesty's favorite. Even if she went to the Cold Palace, His Majesty probably wouldn't blame her. Anyway, I'd better get going. The steward will be making his rounds soon."
