Chapter 28: Chapter28-Dragon Barbecue
"These advanced mana stones were indeed given to me by Velen," William said, nodding as he confirmed to the stunned Jake and the others.
"How many mana stones did Velen give you?"
William took a deep breath and directly presented the storage pouch containing 10 million advanced mana stones.
This was an astronomical amount, and the Ducal Manor was in dire need of them. With so many advanced mana stones, the Starlight Array could operate for decades, if not centuries.
The array wouldn't always be active, nor would it run at full capacity. This meant the mana stones could last even longer.
William understood what they were implying and said slowly:
"From now on, we'll operate the array at maximum capacity. As the Ducal Manor, we cannot lose face!"
"Velen has assured me that if we need more, he has plenty and told me to just ask."
Jake and the others were utterly shocked.
If anyone else had made such a claim, they would've laughed it off as a joke or exaggeration. But Velen said this—the same Velen who had already given them 10 million advanced mana stones.
Such a staggering amount of mana stones was enough to purchase the entire Ducal Manor!
"Additionally, Velen gave me an enhanced version of the Starlight Array. Although it demands more advanced mana stones, its power and range have been significantly enhanced!"
"Even a peak Ascended Rank Lv9 powerhouse would find only death if they ventured into the enhanced Starlight Array."
Hearing this, Jake and the others were left speechless, their shock reaching new heights.
Meanwhile, at the Forbidden Tower within the Ducal Manor.
Under Anthony's guidance, Velen entered the tower. He observed his surroundings, noting the many spellbeasts imprisoned in iron cages, their roars echoing through the air.
After watching for a while, Velen asked curiously, "Duke, why not eliminate these spellbeasts instead of going through the trouble of keeping them imprisoned?"
Anthony smiled and explained, "The primary purpose of imprisoning them is to prepare trials for others in the Ducal Manor."
"Whether traveling among the stars or venturing into the Singularity Battlefield, spellbeasts are an unavoidable presence."
"If someone encounters a powerful spellbeast outside the Ducal Manor without sufficient experience, it could easily cost them their life."
"That's why we built the Forbidden Tower, allowing our members to train and gain experience here."
After hearing the explanation, Velen nodded thoughtfully. Then, looking at Anthony, he said, "I'll be entering the Singularity Battlefield soon. Could I test my skills here?"
Anthony glanced at Velen and shook his head. "Most of the spellbeasts here were brought back from the Singularity Battlefield. With your strength, defeating them would be as easy as slicing through melons."
He knew how terrifying Velen's combat abilities were. Over 200 of the Ducal Manor's prodigies had fallen to him. Asking him to fight here would be nothing more than senseless slaughter.
Disappointed by the refusal, Velen wondered if he would have to wait until entering the Singularity Battlefield for a true challenge against spellbeasts.
Still, since he was already here, Velen asked Anthony earnestly, "I'm curious—what is an Apprentice Rank Lv9 spellbeast worth in gold coins or mana stones?"
Anthony immediately understood Velen's intent and chose to ignore him, lest Velen set a price he couldn't refuse. Anthony wasn't someone without principles, after all.
Seeing this, Velen shook his head slightly. Under Anthony's guidance, he toured the Forbidden Tower. Although there were many spellbeasts, none piqued Velen's interest. Feeling a bit disappointed, he returned to his room.
Checking his system interface, Velen saw that after drawing various attack skills, he had only 2,810 luxury points remaining. He planned to save up to 9,000 points to advance directly to Adept Rank Lv9.
The next morning.
After a restful night, Velen opened his eyes and looked at the system interface.
Today's special item: A dark dragon corpse.
A dragon corpse?
Velen was stunned. He hadn't expected the system to offer something so unique.
Dragons were synonymous with power, no matter where they were. Even as a corpse, it was bound to be extraordinary.
But how could he use this to flaunt his wealth?
Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, Velen sought out Hael.
"You're asking how to handle a spellbeast corpse?" Hael blinked at Velen's question before replying slowly.
"If it's a high-level spellbeast, you can have an alchemist extract its blood. This would be incredibly beneficial for berserkers."
"Berserkers don't channel mana into cores or form mana patterns. Instead, they crudely infuse mana into their bodies, becoming living weapons. They're a fierce bunch, and the extracted blood from a powerful spellbeast is better for them than most natural treasures."
Hearing this, Velen nodded. He then asked, "What about just roasting it for food?"
At this, Hael paused, considering Velen's extravagant tendencies, and replied cautiously:
"If it's an ordinary spellbeast, roasting it is fine. But if it's a high-level spellbeast or one with a special bloodline, it's better to let an alchemist refine its blood. That would maximize its potential. Eating it directly wouldn't fully utilize its value."
"Got it," Velen said with a nod. "Are there any skilled berserkers in the Ducal Manor?"
Hael nodded again. "Of course. Senator Jake isn't just a master blacksmith; he's also a legendary berserker. One strike of his hammer could shatter a mountain."
Hearing this, Hael grew even more convinced that Velen possessed a powerful spellbeast corpse. Knowing Velen's tycoon-like nature, anything seemed possible.
"Great," Velen said. "Please gather everyone in the Ducal Manor. I'm treating them to a barbecue today."
"A barbecue?" Hael was stunned. "Velen, there are nearly ten thousand people in the Ducal Manor. Organizing a barbecue for that many—"
Before he could finish, a thunderous sound echoed as something massive landed, causing the ground to quake and sink slightly.
A colossal dark dragon corpse appeared in the square in front of the Hatchling Order's dormitory, taking up nearly half the space.
As the dark dragon's corpse materialized, an oppressive dragon's aura instantly spread through the air!
The stone tiles on the ground cracked under an invisible weight, the effect rippling throughout the entire Ducal Manor. Everyone felt the suffocating pressure, struggling to even stand upright.
Sensing this aura, everyone instinctively looked toward the square and saw the towering dark dragon corpse.
"My god!"
"A dragon! A massive dragon!"
"Even in death, it radiates such terrifying power. It must have reached maturity! Mature dragons are usually at the Ascended Rank!"
"How did this dragon corpse end up here?"
The crowd was filled with shock and confusion as they gazed at the dragon corpse, speculating amongst themselves.
"Everyone, come on over. Let's relax today and enjoy some dragon barbecue!"
Velen's voice, infused with mana, spread far and wide.
Hearing this, the crowd's shock deepened.
Such a powerful dragon corpse, instead of being refined for its blood, was going to be roasted and eaten? Velen was outrageously extravagant!
Yet, their shock quickly turned to excitement.
Ordinary people didn't even get to see dragons, let alone eat one. This was a rare opportunity, and they were ecstatic.
However, as they gathered under the immense pressure of the dragon's aura, they encountered a problem: the dark dragon's body was covered in impenetrable scales.
Swords and knives shattered against its scales. Even targeting its weak points, such as its eyes, proved futile.
"Velen, the dragon's scales are too tough. Even the weak spots are impenetrable!"
"What should we do?"
The crowd looked at Velen helplessly. The dragon's corpse was right in front of them, but they couldn't eat it. This left them on the verge of despair, their hopes pinned entirely on Velen.
Velen sighed inwardly and asked the system, "If I can't eat this dragon, how am I supposed to flaunt my wealth properly?"
The system replied: "Dragonslayer Blade temporarily lent to the host. Must be returned after use, or a large number of luxury points will be deducted."
